Art was perhaps my first friend (and a good one) when we moved to Richardson in 1962. We moved in the two story home across the street (on Vernet) from the Lavergnes.....whose home backed up to the Arapaho Drive-In. We hung out for one year of grade school and then became best friends again when I transferred to RHS.

Highly competitive and fun to be around I remember his first favorite musician was "Tiny Tim" My first reaction was "Yuk, Art!" But he just had different tastes.

Speaking of which...the first time I EVER got inebriated was with Art and another friend, Robby Wright. We had a friend pick up a case of "Schlitz" at the "Creek" on Greenville...and headed up to Lake Dallas to camp out. We were just sophomores!

Boy...did we ever get blitzed! Plus Art and I were p.....d at Robby...because he deliberately didn't drink as much as us. Very wise for Robby.....WE got sick!

Anyway....I went to his viewing....and it was very sad. I have a lot of respect for that family....and I miss Art~j

I remembered another one from when we both played RSI football our Senior year.

His "North" team was running some plays in the back of the end zone at Mimosa Park.....as our team (the "South") was playing a game against the "West" team.

I broke free for a long touchdown (running towards the end zone they were in) Our sideline and team were getting loud as I was out running this guy...and it caught Art's attention.

When I scored Art came up to me in the end zone and shook my hand....saying, "Way to go Jerry. Just don't do that against us!" (I think we had them the next week!)

Went to Philmont Scout Ranch with Art. Tireless worker and funny dry wit.

I remember playing back yard football with Art when we lived on Provincetown. He lived on Vernet and Lynn Decatur lived on the same street in the corner two story house. Loved them both. Miss those days.
