Many years ago I made a big mistake. I remembered a skit from the 3 stooges when Curly (and my wife) said something like "I was trying to think...."

I followed up with Curly's finish on the line - "and nothing happened". 

One of those learning moments in marriage that I'll never forget.

Lance, thanks for posting the video of Bolero. It has always been one of my favorite ballets and this version is spectacular. Many years ago I saw the Dallas Ballet perform this with different choreography and gorgeous costumes that someone stole so they never did it again.  I'll be glad when TITAS can bring dance troupes back for live performances.

Apparently, German banks are requiring depositors to pay 1/2 % to accept deposits of a certain amount.   So, Germans are looking elsewhere to deposit their savings.   It is due to the shrinking of the Covid economy.  Makes you think interest rates are going to be way down for a while, hence, this expanding market....but then what?   And When?

We've watched a couple of episodes of The Muppet Show, one of which featured Rita Moreno, who was in one of the dance scenes. About 35 years ago I saw a different-sex version of The Odd Couple in Chicago with Rita and Sally Struthers (All in the Family). I can't remember which lady played which role because I had already imagined each of them in both roles.

I was thinking about my Russian emigre stove repairman and it occurred to me that the US is like the old Soviet Union in the 1980s.  Trump was a sort of Gorbechev trying desperately to save the system from itself; Biden, the Swamp, and the tech billionaires are like the old Soviets who undermined his reform efforts and thereby destroyed their system.  I could go on, but I think it's pretty obvious that things are falling apart rapidly and the Democrats are devouring themselves now that Trump is gone and they don't really have anyone to focus the hate on.  That not even close to believable imaginary white nationalist menace the government is supposedly so afraid of is a pretty blatant excuse to scare the left side of the bell curve and take away our rights -- the National Guard deployed around the Capital -- oh come on! 

It's like the old Buffalo Springfield song -- "there's something happenin' here; what it is ain't exactly clear.  There's a man with a gun over there telling me I got to beware."

What I was thinking was a Walker Percy type dystopia is very likely our society's elite self-destructing.

Actually, Lance,your request is a valid one as it is a friendly web forum, designed for RHS grads who interests basically WERE common in that we all graduated there and many of us grew up and went there. 

It's not a political rallying site, left or right.   Engaging lighthearted fun communications is what this is all about. 

Some have developed chips on their shoulders (since the forum started, or somewhere else along through life.)  I guess there are those who developed those chips issues during school days.

But if Trump luvers like Ron want to continue their blind raving here...I'll read and pray.

At the end of high school and into a few years of college, I was around smokers....I began to smoke cigarrettes.  Marlboro's, and them Winston's.  

Cigarrettes were 35 cents to start with.   When I returned from Austin to stay in 1973, I think I was going through 3 packs a day. 

I moved into a place of my own on Oram, (Lower Greenville) and was surrounded by women in the complex.  None of them smoked.  I resolved to quit.   My secret was to substitute a pitcher of ice water and a glass to take a drink each time I wanted a smoke.   But, another secret was I didn't tell anyone I had quit.   I made it and haven't had a smoke in about 47 years or so (can't remember if I quit in 74 or 75.)

I don't think anyone even noticed I quit.

Of course, now I've told you guys, so I hope I don't start again.  What is it about 80 dollars a case?

It reminds me of shaving a beard off, or a mustache.  No one notices.

It's funny how I get wrapped up with MYSELF sometimes, but then when I make a big change...unless I call myself out to others, their world goes on without even noticing.

Life...it's funny  we are alone, fooling ourselves we are together.

One more thing.  That no one notices deal doesn't work with wives getting their hair done.  You better notice and make a genuine compliment (from the tips of your toes to the mouth outwhich you speaketh same.)

If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

  You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes - one color for all seasons.  You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife.  You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache... You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

East San Diego California:

                  An suv carrying 27 illegal immigrants who had taken advantage of Joe Biden's new immigration                          open door policy, was involved in a head on collision a few miles east of San Diego on a backroad                         leading from the Mexican border.  13 people are dead and 8 are injured.  Children were separated                       from their parents by death.  This is more fatalities than were logged by the Border Patrol in this                           part of the border in the four years of the Trump administration.

Went to see RHS play Trophy Club Byron Nelson HS in a regional semifinal game tonight. RHS won big. I didn't look at the final score, but it was something like 60-30. Here with Pat Cowlishaw (center) and his sportswriter brother Tim. This basketball arena is a lot nicer than the one at RHS!

Biden says he is interested in the poor folks from south of our border because HE TRULY CARES ABOUT LIFTING THEM UP!

He says that and ALL of his party say that, even though we know that it is an absolute LIE.  But they continue to say these LOFTY, ADMIRABLE statements because they know that it sounds good in the press, and it makes them appear, to themselves and their friends, to be SUCH FINE PEOPLE!  It makes them appear to be doing God's will, which is particularly amusing since HOW MANY LIBERALS DO YOU KNOW WHO STUDY AND ADHERE TO THE BIBLE'S TEACHINGS?

They aren't fooling most of us, because we know who the truly compassionate people are.  The truly compassionate don't have to say anything at all.  We know compassionate folks by their actions.  They usually are the ones who work behind the scenes and are rarely ever noticed, but that is what they prefer anyway.  They don't want accolades.

Biden, the COMPASSIONATE CATHOLIC, is not allowed to take communion in his home church, because he is PRO ABORTION, which the Catholic Church says IS A SIN, obvious to most of us, and there have been several highly acclaimed bishops of the Catholic Church who have openly ADMONISHED Biden, not that he seems to care.

The Progressive Party, and we are sure about who that party is, is ONLY ALLOWING ALL OF THESE ILLEGAL FOLKS INTO THIS COUNTRY FOR ONE REASON, and you posters know what that reason is.  It is a cruel and dastardly and SICK action to do to the citizens who are here today, who are paying an awful lot of income to the government in taxes, and it is a cruel and mean-hearted thing to do to the foreigners who immigrated here LEGALLY.   IT is a nasty slap in the face to ALL AMERICAN citizens, and I personally think we should take to the streets, all of us together, rallying around our state capitols, on a certain day, to make a gigantic statement to Biden and all of his followers, to say STOP THIS MADNESS!  THIS MADNESS WILL BRING OUR COUNTRY TO A LEVEL WE DON"T WANT & DON'T DESERVE!   Immigrants are welcome if they come here legally!!!!  When did Democrats stop believing that concept?

My view on the illegal immigration situation is that anyone who came here illegally should never be allowed a path to citizenship. They forfeited that opportunity by coming here illegally. I'm OK with their receiving a work visa, but not citizenship/voting. Illegal aliens who came as children present a more difficult situation.

Reagan agreed in 1986 to allow a path to citizenship with the understanding that illegal immigration would be cut off. Democrat legislators have no problem with illegal immigration. Let 'em all in! 

What is so hard to understand about the word illegal? Fortify the border, whether it is with a wall or a massive number of border agents. For those legislators who want open borders, pass a law. Otherwise, stop encouraging breaking the law.

What about the degradation of schools that have to accept non-English speaking children of uneducated non-English-speaking parent(s)?

What happens to unaccompanied minors who arrive here? Do they go into the foster system? What happens to the foster system? Don't we have our own citizen orphans who need help?

Feeling sympathy for poor people from other countries who want our help is understandable and normal, but we have our own people who need our help. Instead, we are impeding them by encouraging a wave of students who will, for the most part, pull down the averages and suck up resources. After all, what schools will the illegal immigrant children attend? Right. Schools in poor areas that already have problems.

Part of any "America first" policy is to put American citizens first.

I don't post there anymore.  I posted there not long ago in answer to Bob Fleming, since he said that the NYT was not in 'anti-conservative shut down' mode of Fox, Newsmax and OANN, plus other stations, so I posted an article written by one of their main opinion guys, which was definitely anti-conservative shut down... right now, right away!   It was not just opinion though, as I pointed out with other people saying similar things in the TIMES and in WaPo.  The leftists absolutely wish to shut down conservative news operations asap, as they have determined that conservative media is pure BS, conspiracy nonsense daily, and white supremacist's crap.  You and I know that that is a total lie, since we actually read it each day while they will never even consider such an action, but it is the lie that all the mainstream media issues each day.  Therefore, the people who read that Democratic spin everyday, believe it wholeheartedly and they never consider that it is only one side of the story. They don't think that Republicans have opinions.  They think Republicans are full of shepoopy and are totally uneducated toads.  And they don't know that we have genuine, responsible, Republican outlets espousing the daily news---at least they don't acknowledge that we do, because they can't find those outlets, ever, they try to say.  They are determined to state that we don't exist, since they despise us as sub-human beasts.

Janalu -- I was composing something similar to your last post in my head when I read yours.  I couldn't agree more!  It does show that Tommyish haters really have absolutely no idea how conservatives actually think or what we believe.

I took my bicycle by the bike shop to have its crank bearings adjusted yesterday at lunch.  The mechanics are in an area behind the front counter and there are chairs for customers to sit and play with their phones while they wait.  I was watching the super-fit twenty-something bicyclists working and talking among themselves while I waited for the ten-minute fix to my bike.  One of them started talking about Biden as a "typical Boomer" -- I threw in my two cents about him being too old to be a boomer, since he was born during World War II.  They thought it was the funniest thing they'd ever heard that he's acutally older than a Boomer.  I guess the mask hid some of my wrinkles (or they saw that I don't ride a three-wheeler) since they included me in the laughter.
