Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

On a side note, Georgia Senate runoff spending for both sides in both runoffs is at about 365,000,000 (million.)

The law in Georgia allows "discount" pricing for ads placed by the candidates themselves.   Ads placed by anyone other than the candidate is market (by media) priced.   Much higher.   Lots of out of state corporate money (so far secret) coming in...Pacs and other contributions.

Most ads are negative.  (All are negative, rather.)

Large contributor's names and amounts should be released this week.   That will be an interesting look.

Changes in tax laws and rates at stake involve hundreds of billions if not trillion dollars.

Lowell:

I find it interesting you expected a response similar to mine based on what you wrote:

"Well, he signed the stimulus package.   What a great leader."

Of course someone would respond to such a sarcastic and critical statement.  I guess you wanted to bait the bear and I just happened to read your comment and react.

However, as I indicated in my later response, I don't believe anyone has come out of this looking good.

It sure looks like the Democrats chose not to negotiate in good faith and help the people of America, just so they could tweak President Trump.  Pretty reprehensible.

Mitch McConnell and the Senate held off negotiating in good faith, although the ultimate rescue bill was probably closer to their vision than the other parties.

And President Trump waited on the sidelines to jump in at the last moment and make his demands, and then to turn around and sign the law.  My only idea was he intended to pull off some last minute negotiation move and that ultimately failed badly, with the result individuals will probably lose a week or more of benefits.  In the end, it appeared to only be an ego boosting move.

A pox on both their houses.

I dunno. It looks to me that Trump won. The bill was $900 billion, which was more along the lines of what he wanted to begin with, not $1.8 trillion. Then he pushed for the $2,000 deal, and it looks like he got it.

The only thing is, I hate the sausage-making involved in legislating. What crap is buried in a 5,000+ page bill? I hate this business of "never let a crisis go to waste." It's disgraceful.

Kurt, perhaps aonther perspective upon further consideration.

Both parties realized a stimulus of some sort would work.   Pulling against one at all by many on the furthest right of the GOP.   Pushing hard for more for the poor guys at the expense of the rich guys by the left of the Democrats.   A compromise finally worked out.

It took too long.  But there was lots of wrangling to get there.

After it all settled, perhaps both sides could hope for credit.

Then...El Trumpo....Na   na   na

Still it got through.  I am guessing no further moves unless eomtethng jumps our of Georgai.

Here we go again. Another one down. Groom # 3.

Our only child, Kate, Julia Robert’s in “Run-Away Bride” has nothing on her.

A former teenage terror who could have driven anyone over the edge and out the window ultimately, she morphed into a beautiful young woman.

Smart. Athletic. Compassionate.  Productive. Financially independent.  And, an independent streak so fierce it’s amazing she hadn’t arranged for a getaway car outside the hospital exit door closest to the delivery room.

Each time, I don’t know if I’m more heartbroken than the groom(s) she dumped.   Her dad is like ….meh.  Like most fathers, he never thinks anyone is good enough for his little girl.

Can't wait to meet groom #4.

Optical illusion. That's my daughter's right a--r-m  pressing against what used to be the neckline of my dress. Honest.

In a moment of brilliance thought I could remove  a photo stuck to glass in frame in efforts to reduce the glare. Did it work? No. Of course not. Instead I nearly destroyed a 35 year-old photo thereby giving it the appearance of a young mother letting it all hang out. See how RJ's smilng in the photo?  That's what he's doing right now. Smiling. Laughing actually.

"What was it exactly, compelling you to try to peel a photo stuck obviously stuck to glass? "

"Aaaaagh who knows." Lol

That video was painful to watch! I think it should have been named, "The Day of the Rupture"!

i noticed an article written by Father Ed Meek, a Catholic minister at Christ the King Catholic Church in Baltimore.

He was scolding Joe Biden on five points concerning his Catholicism, the Catholicism for which many citizens were mindful at election time, believing Biden's faith made him a favorable candidate for president of the United States.

Father Ed Meeks disagreed with the concensus, saying he would suggest another candidate be chosen.

The five points were:

1.)  Biden is unabashedly PRO-Abortion, for any reason or no reason, and Biden also intends to abolish the Hyde Amendment.  The Catholic Church considers all life sacred and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the right to life is protected, absolutely.

2.)  Biden endorses same sex marriage.

3.)  Biden presents a danger to The Little Sisters of the Poor and other similar groups, and to hospital employees who wish to avoid participation in abortions, or in handing out aborifacients.

4.)  His presidency would increase Socialism and Socialist governments view churches as "the enemy,"  an enemy those governments seek to diminish at every turn, since Socialists prefere that "the government" be the main focus and objective of people's lives.  Socialism is soul-robbing, where government becomes the god.

5.)  Biden is high profile as a good ol' Catholic boy, but Father Meeks believes Biden is a poor example to follow.  Biden criticized Amy Coney Barrett as being too tightly bound to her faith, and therefore would not be a good Supreme Court Justice.  He said she was "dangerous."  Biden appears to think "mob rule" protesters may have worthy belief systems to be examined, not dismissed.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

In your opinion, Lowell, how do you see Biden as better?  I'm interested in your list of ways Biden is so much better.

You DO realize he likely is an accomplice to his son's laundering of Communist money, right?  Money from China, Romania and Ukraine, which he says he knows nothing about.  Joe says he and his son are victims of Russian disinformation.  Do you believe that?

Is CNN saying that Joe is lying, and are they keeping a tally of the lies day by day?

What do you think ol' Joe meant when he called Kamala "president-elect" on Tuesday morning?

79 million Americans and all those whose votes were suppressed can't be wrong Janalu.   Trump was the issue.

Lance,

Critical Race Theory is the vewpoint that the law and legal institutions are inherently racist and that race itself instead of being biologically ground and natural, is a socially constructed concept that is used by caucasians to further their economic and political interests at the expense of others not caucasian.

There it is, Lance, and if you believe it, YOU discuss it.

I personally do not buy it.  I just listened to Dennis Prager say that it is his belief that the United States is the least racist country in the world ( and he has travelled extensively)

I agree with him.  I know that racism still prevails in some areas of our country, but I think it is dying out slowly, which is natural.  Racism dies slowly over generations.

There will always be some of it lingering because of human frailties being what they are, but by and large, the United States has made great strides in improving itself, with the help of Divine words of the Bible guiding many of us who read and accept its inspired script.

I know that at one time (the early fifties) there was housing discrimination on Long Island and other places,  and I know of other instances in Mississippi (and other Deep South states) where discrimination occured toward Blacks, but at the current date, I also know that those instances have been noted & greatly improved.  Our country continues to right its wrongs, the way I see it, and we intend to do more when we observe its presence, do we not?

To say that caucasians are deliberately doing otherwise is, in my opinion, false, and if one notices blatant discrimination toward minorities, then that person should report it immediately to the governor, so that it can be corrected, as is the desired governing method of our nation by our citizens.  Do you agree?

Lowell,

I am curious if the insurance industry has caught up to the perception of the genral public in regards to travel to New York or the West Coast blue states.   The general public perception around my friends is that you are about as safe traveling to downtown San Francisco, Los Angeles or New York as you are to Nuevo Laredo, Acuna, Matamoros, Jaurez or Sinaloa.  There is a steady stream of residents leaving California, Washington (the state) , Oregon and New York as a combination of the increase homeless population, the acceptance of illegal immigrants, the high taxes and the defunding of the police takes place.  My question to you is:  Are the actuary rates on autombiles and home insurance reflecting the increased dangers of living in these blue states after taking into account the reality on the ground there?

Steve,

Just saw this from a guy who is a fisherman friend of Charles and me.

Joe Biden:  Here's a guy with the energy and personality of a cadaver, a two-time presidential loser before having developed dementia, who ran the laziest campaign in history, and somehow got eleven million more votes than Obama in 2008.

Nobody with an ounce of common sense thinks it's legit.

Fishermen are just so darn funny even when they get skunked on a slow day.....

Steve.

Auto insurance has produced prodigious profits over the past 10 months.   See financials for Progressive.  They report monthly.   Not so good for their new homeowner's product, but most of that is as an agency not a company.  Both Geico and Progressive place business in other companies, not their own.

The two biggest issues in Big I and Best magazines that I have seen are the changing exposures to liability insurance, and lifie insurannce issues.

Business interruption liabilities being tested in courts.   Homeowner's liability insurance with everyong working, educating (in pods,) and staying at home.

Life insurance issues not so much from death losses having to be paid, but from low interest rates being available to the investment side of insurance carriers, and yet having to pay out their guaranteed benefits on whole life.

Too much insurance is a sleep topix and this group needs to stay awake.

PS  The states of Massachucetts and California have very negative controlling of insurance laws.  Yet they still have insurance.   California?  fires and earthquakes.   but nothing compared to Texas' hail and windstorm...not to mention tax supported flood insurance.

Steve, I found out this past weekend one of my agent friends of mine placed the coverage on this family business.   He said it's about 37 million so far.

Reminds me of the West, Texas explosion.

I know they have these everywhere, but somehow, in Texas, they are in neighborhoods a lot of the time.

Lassez-faire?

12/31/20 11:13 AM #19767

Lowell Tuttle

Average homeowner's insurance premiuum in Texas?  2000 (only Florida higher.)

Massachucetts?   1300.

California?  980

IMHO it has nothing to do with politics, in my final analysis.   Just losses.

In addition, most of Texas is getting to 2% and even 5% (of dwelling insured amount) deductibles on wind and hail.   While Cal and Mass don't worry about wind/hail too much.

Steve, I googled homeowners insurance for some of my post back to ya.  And now, sure enough, my e mail and facebook is being bombarded with homeowners insurance proposals.   So it goes.

If Zuckerberg can do that, what makes you think they couldn't alter the dominion machines to undercount Trump votes?

So, I ask you.   Who's to keep the Republican's from doing the same?
