Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Thoughts about the year 2020 -- forwarded to me by a non-posting classmate.

David,

I think Trump has 95% of his mental and physical capacity intact.  I think 'Biden has 20% on his good days.  I am pretty sure the debate is going to be funnier than any Saturday Night Live show of the past few years.  I think the only way Trump can lose is if he does something stupid like invite Biden for a drink at Jeffrey Epstein's place.

HI David.  In regards ACB as a Supreme Court nominee, I don't think her Catholocism is particularly helpful in understanding her jurisprudence.  (Or the many other Catholics currently or recently on the court as well.)

On the other hand, I think her membership in the Federalist Society is quite likely indicative.

Steve, 95% of nothing is nothing...

David Cordell

Lowell, that was a good one, but if there were an IQ contest between Trump and Biden, I'd put my money on Trump.

Bob F, I like the Federalist Society. I am not a believer in a "living Constitution" because it gives too much latitude for judges to rock-and-roll however they please. It does strike me as ironic that, at least with regard to the Constitution, leftists choose life!

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

David,

I also am NOT a believer in a "living" Constitution.  I wonder who was the first one who came up with that notion?  I'll bet in was not a conservative person.

Was it Howard Lee McBain?

Lance,

I enjoyed your previous post, thinking it was relevant and revealing.  I especially like that quote from John Adams, wishing it was plastered on all Federal builidings for citizens to see often.

I just noticed a topic on the internet about a new film coming out in the beginning of October, entitled OBAMAGATE: THE MOVIE, produced by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, Irish filmmakers.  They were the producers of a recent film about Gosnell's abortion clinic.  McAleer stated that it was his opinion that "The mainstream media in the US is not reporting spin anymore, but that they are straightout publishing falsehoods and lies, and things that are not true."

Will have to see when this new TV movie is scheduled......

Lance you did not include the third movie title song "Moonraker"

I just saw a "funny" on Facebook.

Someone painted the words "Black Lives Matter" on a wall, and another person came along to put the letter 'O' in front of the word 'Lives,' making the new message read "Black Olives Matter."

Silliness knows no bounds.....

Black olives are delicious!  Especially in a Greek salad with feta cheese and red onions!  And a nice Chianti!!

Along with an old friend for dinner?

Lance, the last time I read anything that long, it required a library card. But I agree with the vast majority of it.

I've seen Evita performed live seven or eight times. Love it. Also have a DVD of the movie, which has two original songs that are very good. I was still in grad school when, at one UT football halftime, both bands played Don't Cry for Me, Argentina.

When I played the version you posted, my son was in the next room, and asked, "Is that Nicole Scherzinger?" Really? I never heard of her.

For musical buffs, here are two more versions. One from Patti LuPone, who originated the role on Broadway. The second version is from Elaine Paige, who originated the role -- period -- in London's West End.

We saw LuPone and Mandy Patinkin in a concert celebrating the 10-year anniversary or the Eisemann Center in Richardson, and she sang Don't Cry for Me, Argentina. They had also opened the Eisemann ten years earlier, and it was the first of many concerts that they performed together.

Patinkin is known for his TV roles, but he originated the role of Che in Evita on Broadway. A fabulous inside joke -- Patinkin starred in the TV series Chicago Hope. In one episode, one of the patients thought he (the patient) was Juan Peron. At some point in the show the patient looked at Patinkin and said, "Don't I know you from somewhere?"

Lance,

You forgot to instruct the faithful to fast from sundown Sunday to sundown Monday.  Yom Kippur is the only required fast day of the feasts of the Lord every year.  We should all be introspective, pray at least four times, and read the Psalms, Proverbs and Leviticus today.  This is the day of atonement for our sins when we afflict ourselves and ask God to forgive our sins for the year.  This the  day the priest went in to the Holy of Holies in the Temple to entreat God to forgive His people.

There's a very interesting YouTube video to see and hear of young Black citizens expressing how they feel about what is happening right now in America, concerning the perceived racism that many Progressives claim is epidemic and is ruining America, and that racism is in the DNA of Americans.

One quote from this video is this one: "If you want to see if a White Progressive understands the current mindset of thinking Black people, put him in a room with Black Conservatives."

Watch, if you dare:  [Youtube: Check Out These Deleted Scenes From the Film 'Uncle Tom']

There were numerous high school students speaking of their visit to the White House recently, meeting with President Trump, and sharing their thoughts about current times in the US as the election approaches, and sharing that the Democrats are trying to encourage them to vote Democratically.

You'll be surprised at what they say.

Steve, David

I have had the urge to kill something so on Saturday and yesterday I went to my range and killed a bunch of defenceless paper targets. Great fun. Pun intended.

Bob Davidson

Janalu,

Not saying that you do this, just thinking aloud:

I'm always a little amazed at how so many white people stereotype blacks -- as if they have no understanding that everything we humans do can be set out on a bell curve. Obviously some of the bell curves are steeper or flatter than others, humans vary hugely.

The other day I was with a client who is a retired Marine gunnery sergeant and he started talking about Black Lives Matter. I like the guy -- he has a forceful and funny personality, but if I said what he was saying, my guess is that I'd be ostracized from most of society for having totally politically incorrect views.

One point he made was that he has the same right as any other &%$#@ to think what he wants and no one has the right to tell him what he is because of his color and that it's demeaning to think that any individual is defined by his ethnicity, color, religion, or other characteristic.  (Being a bit of a smartass, I replied something like, "Except for being a Marine nco.")

Wayne and David,

Thanks for asking about my leg.  I used up all my antibiotics and I still have some swelling on top of my foot.  The rest of my leg is doing great.  I am trying to limit my sugar so that maybe the swelling will go down  Speaking of killing, Wayne, I am looking forward to the debate tonight.  I can see only three scenarios where Trump can win.

1.  Trump comes out and makes fun of Biden and belittles his obvious dementia or Alzheimers.

2.  Trump plays Mr. Nice Guy and asks Biden a few questions and lets him hang himself.

3.  Trump lets Biden talk for the whole 90 minutes and just stands there and smiles knowingly.

09/29/20 03:36 PM #19044

David Cordell

Bob D. - You didn't say what the Marine's response was, and it wasn't clear to me if he was black or white. I love black conservatives. They have to be really tough to put up with the guff they get.

Janalu - did you mean to post a youtube link.

Steve - I can tell you know that Biden won. Past tense. The stories have already been written by the MSM. I won't watch. All it can do is make me angry or disappointed. I won't feel any better if Trump does well, and I will feel worse if Biden does well.

By the way, Trump signs are being stolen in my neighborhood. One neighbor had three stolen before he finally decided to bring his sign into the house at night. Another neighbor caught some video from his Ring doorbell at 2 AM that showed a car pulling a trailer into which someone was tossing stolen signs.

David.

I put the YoTube link in brackets.  That's the best I can do when posting, as my skills are very limited.

If you wish, you could highlight those words in the brackets, and then my post makes more sense.

The Youtube video is some out takes from a movie that is now available.  It is entitled 'Uncle Tom', I believe, or something similar to that.  It is suppose to be a good one, but I have not seen it yet. I think it is a film people can purchase.

The sweet olive bush at my house is blooming again now, in this autumn weather.  It blooms in the spring too, and the strong, sweet fragrance is so nice!  I just love it, and hope to plant some more of these plants.  It is surprising to walk outside, and be hit with the wonderful scent.  It always makes me smile and want to stay out for a while.  I first learned of sweet olive when visiting southern Louisiana, as that area in the spring was filled with the smell---so enjoyable and lovely......

That will put the youtube video in you message.

Give this a try.
