Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Last night I was talking to my wife of 25yrs. She said before we met she would not marry an Aggie or a salesman.  She ended up marring me, and Aggie and industrial pump salesman.

Re Jan and Burger Chef:

Burger Chef was my first job where I received an actual paycheck.  Before that I'd delivered papers and mowed lawns and such where I was paid in cash.  I still vividly remember receiving that first check -- I'd figured out how many hours I'd worked and my hourly pay and was expecting that amount.  When I received my check, of course, there were the deductions we have all lived with over the years.  Being young and stupid, I thought they had made a mistake or something was wrong so I marched in to his office to see Mr. Freer, our very kind manager, and held out my check while I told him something along the lines of, "This can't be right.  What happened to all my money."

Two of the older employees were in with him, including the assistant manager and a lady with sons at RHS who worked lunches for extra income.  The three of them burst out laughing, while I turned red.  Finally, Mr. Freer said something like, "Welcome to the world of work, kid."  They then laughingly explained to me about Social Security and income tax and how it comes out whether I want it or not.  I felt very, very naive, but educated.  That night I told my dad about it -- and gave him a pretty good laugh at my expense, too.

Lance,

I think the answer is that Harris will be the president, along with Bernie Sanders, Obama, Warren, and various other cohorts that cooperate with those top "staff" members; unelected members, by the way.

As I said before, Biden will be nearby, possibly at a side table in the Oval, being kept busy with an adult coloring book, working on a picture entitled "On Golden Pond," with the instructions that if he finishes a really nice depiction, it will be hung on the refrigerator in the break room.  If a photo op arises, Biden will be asked to stand before the main desk in the Oval, with Kamala, and all will appear to be normal.

It is truly unbelievable!

And if the Democrats win this year, they will eliminate the Republicans, essentially, as Republicans will never be in power again. The Washington DC district will be allowed to have two senators, as well as Puerto Rico, so four more Democrat senators will be added to enrich their party, when elections come up.  Our country will be run as a one party system, with no competition.  That does not bode well for the good ol' USA, folks!  Obama will have achieved "the change" he declared would come.

Bob and Burger Chef,

I remember having 25 cent hamburger sales... and lines would be out the darn door...  People would order 25 of them and our wondeful republican designed registers would only take one hamburger at a time to ring up... so you would stand there and ring up one at a time for the entire order. Took forever.

I gained 10 pounds one summer... and I learned to have tartar sauce with my french fries.

I was hired by a lady manager... who was nice.

Janalu and Lots of Lance...

Jan,

I seriously doubt those registers you used were designed by Republicans!

I worked one time at Joske's, a store in San Antonio, that had ancient, very old style registers, huge monsters!  I think they were NCR cash registers that were the absolute worst cash registers ever!

I respect Jonathan Turley, who is neither Republican nor conservative, but who defended Trump during the impeachment. This article from his website is very interesting. I don't hear too much from the far left on this campus, but I find it repugnant that the same sort of people who decried blacklisting communists in the 50s are more than happy to eliminate all conservative speech.

Wayne,

Still layed up with my leg.  If you were female, 43 and blonde, I might try and stand on it despite the consequences.  However, you are male, 69 and grey.  When I need a twelfth man to come down, you will be the first aggie I call.  I was being chased by casserole ladies, now I have to worry about nonalcoholic cocktail men.

Jan,

I loved the tartar/Big Chef sauce with the french fries, too.  I also remember mixing the sauce: mayo, pickle relish, chopped onions, worcestershire sauce, and I don't remember what all powders in a big aluminum mixter and pouring it through a giant funnel into the plastic jars to be pumped out for the sandwiches.

When we were in the fall of 11th grade, they switched from fresh french fries to frozen.  Aside from all the work cleaning, cutting, soaking, and blanching the potatoes, is was an incredible decline in the quality of the food.

Those registers were a pain -- why do you thing they had a political affilliation?  Someone told me it was set up weirdly for "inventory control" -- whatever that meant.

09/16/20 11:25 AM #18945

Jan Alexander

Bob,

I was just poking fun about the registers... since Janalu-huli and Lance were on their usual tirade about liberals and parties left of the extreme right....  just like to poke anytime I can, with humor.

I believe I earned $1.25 an hour at Burger Chef.  Were you on the cook line cooking all those hamburgers.?  I can't say I remember anyone who was working with me... except Linda the manager and I thought the owner. I don't remember you..

By the way ,Jerry May... I am sorry to hear about your eye issue... hope it isn't really serious.

Steve..... you too... thinking of you and stay off leg...  were you in a Dallas hopsital ?

It must be said. Biden is senile. In four years he will be even more senile.

Was this statement from Kamala Harris intended, or a faux pas?

How about this one from Biden. Listen carefully at the 22 second mark. Maybe it's just chivalry -- ladies first.

Just for the record, misplaced words and mispoken statements are flowing from the mouths of more than just Biden.

I call your attention to sentence structure of our present POTUS....

His voicing structure and ability to communicate has been abyssmal long before this campaign..

So, perspective.

Also, keep in mind Biden has overcome (somewhat) being a stutter (ing) person.

Plus, Obama was a good speaker, and it didn't make any difference to you guys.  You still disliked him.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Lowell,

We disagreed with Obama, but it had nothing to do with his speaking abilities, and we disagree with Biden too, but again, it is not because of his speaking abilities.  Do you not know why we Conservatives have many differences with the Progressives?  Did you miss what we tried to explain over the years?

What do you believe will be the best offerings of a Biden administration?

Do you think that Biden's mental acuity is 'A-okay?'

You know, Kamala Harris dropped out of the primary 'run-up' leaving last December, while many others continued to go on, and the last we saw the remaining candidates, there was Sanders, Biden, Buttigieg, Warren and Klobuchar, if I remember.....

Then, if I remember correctly, suddenly there was an announcement saying that the Democrat candidate would be Biden, and shortly thereafter, Harris was magically brought back to be the running mate of Biden!  What happened?   It was not explained very well, was it?  Suddenly all the remaining candidates were somehow vanished, and Biden was left as "the winner?"  Who decided that Biden was magically "the winner?"  Were the American citizens left out of the decision?  HUH?

Why have the Democrats just accepted the outcome of the primaries with no questions about how decisions were made?  Are they just following the Pied Piper into the sea?  Who is the Pied Piper?

I find it very ironic where over the years Dems have complained about big mony in the campaigns and push for limits on spending.  Now Bloomberg says he will spend $100million in Florida to push Biden yet no-one is complaining about the big money.

Bloomberg has so much money he can finance his agenda and then call is a grass roots org.

Up here the Texas Democratic Party are sending out mailings and running TV ads where they are only saying bad things about the Republican canadate and never metioning who the Dem canadate is.  I guess the ads are saying the Republican is bad so vote for somebody else.

MJ Hagar is saying her job is not finished while Texans are in danger. She talks about being shot down in Afganistan. Never says what are the dangers we need to be protected from.

Here are the lyrics from Despacito, the song that Biden played on his phone in his pandering to Hispanics.

Despacito

Yes, you know that I’ve been looking at you for a long time

I must dance with you today (DY)

(Daddy Yankee)

I saw that the look in your eyes was calling me

Show me the path that I will take (Oh)

(Luis Fonsi)

You, you’re the magnet and I’m the metal

I am getting closer and making a plan

Simply thinking about it makes my heart race (Oh yeah)

(Daddy Yankee)

Now, I’m already liking it more than usual

All of my senses are asking for more

We cannot do this in a rush

(Luis Fonsi)

Slowly

I want to breathe in your neck slowly

Let me murmur things in your ear

So that you remember if you’re not with me

Slowly

I want to undress you in kisses slowly

Firmly in the walls of your labyrinth

And of your body, I want to create a manuscript

Up, up

Up, up, up

I want to see your hair dance

I want to be your rhythm

Want you to show my mouth

Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby)

Let me trespass your danger zones

Until I make you scream

And you forget your last name

(Daddy Yankee)

If I ask for a kiss come give it to me

I know that you’re thinking about it

I’ve been trying to do it for awhile

Mami this is giving and giving it to you

You know that with me your heart goes bom bom

You know that from me that babe is looking for a bom bom

Come try my mouth and see if you like its taste

I want to see how much love fits in you

I’m not in a rush I want to experience this trip

Let’s start slowly, then savagely

Step by step, soft then softly

We come up against each other, little by little

When you kiss me in that state of distress

I see that you are malice and delicacy

Step by step, soft then softly

We come up against each other, little by little

And it’s just that your beauty is a puzzle

But to finish it here I have the missing piece

(Luis Fonsi)

Slowly

I want to breathe in your neck slowly

Let me murmur things in your ear

So that you remember if you’re not with me

Slowly

I want to undress you in kisses slowly

Firmly in the walls of your labyrinth

And of your body, I want to create a manuscript

Up, up, up, up

I want to see your hair dance

I want to be your rhythm

Want you to show my mouth

Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby)

Let me trespass your danger zones

Until I make you scream

And you forget your last name

Slowly

We’re gonna do it on a beach in Puerto Rico

Until the waves scream Oh Lord

So that my seal stays with you

(Daddy Yankee)

Step by step, soft then softly

We come up against each other, little by little

(Luis Fonsi)

I want you to show my mouth

Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby)

(Daddy Yankee)

Step by step, soft then softly

We come up against each other, little by little

(Luis Fonsi)

Until I make you scream

And you forget your last name

Slowly.

Wayne, I just don't know about advertising.   I nearly went broke buying big yellow page ages in the 70's, 80's, 90's.  But, I am still living off the advertising results of those times...Politikin is different.  Everything is up for grabs...ads go up, they get taken down, they resurrect...

Both sides are graspin for straws as far as I can see.

My biggest complaint is how long this whole process takes, and what whoever is president does being on the front page, headlines, on the media.

I like  the English have some specific rules about campaigns...something like only 30 days long and no advertising for 7 days before the election.

Another thing I don't favor.  Presidential debates amongst the party which is out.  Democrats had what, 20 this time?  Republicans had 10-15 last time?

What would we bitch about though?

From a some time reader.

On his 70th birthday, a man was given a gift certificate from his wife. The certificate was for consultation with an Indian medicine man (on a nearby reservation) who was rumored to have a simple cure for erectile dysfunction. The husband went to the reservation and saw the medicine man.

The old Indian gave him a potion and, with a grip on his shoulder, warned ' This is a powerful medicine. You take only a teaspoonful, and then say: '1-2-3.' When you do , you will become more manly than you have ever been in your life, and you can perform for as long as you want."

The man thanked the old Indian, and as he walked away, he turned and asked: "How do I stop the medicine from working?" "Your partner must say ' 1-2-3-4 , ' he responded, " but when she does, the medicine will not work again until the next full moon. "

He was very eager to see if it worked so he went home, showered, shaved, took a spoonful of the medicine, and then invited his wife to join him in the bedroom. When she came in, he took off his clothes and said: "1-2-3!" Immediately, he was the manliest of men. His wife was excited and began throwing off her clothes, and asked: "What was the 1-2-3 for ? "

And that, boys and girls, is why we should never end our sentences with a preposition, because we could end up with a dangling participle.

Lance,

I was reading again today about something Newt Gingrich said a couple of days ago on a news panel he was on, where women were asking him questions.  He said that Soros had given money to a number of liberal District Attorneys in the US, in elections of the past couple of years, which is now allowing many Antifa members and looting BLM people, to go free from jail, with only a slap-on-the-wrist, and little or no bail money posted.

As you know, he is not the only Conservative person to say this.  Yet Democrats and Progressives refuse to acknowledge the truth, saying that Soros is a well-respected man, helping many underprivileged folks with his philanthropy, not a man who meddles in trying to effect change in governmental outcomes.

Factually, he desires outcomes reflect his globalist/socialist/atheistic views of the future for the world, as he has done in a number of foreign countries, against the wishes of the citizens who vote in ways with which he doesn't agree.

When the ladies on the panel heard the mention of George Soros' name, a hush fell over them instantly, pretty well indicating that they had been warned NOT to speak of the man.  Evidently, Soros is known to cause trouble for broadcasting companies, if they speak of him in a negative way.  Marie Harf, a panelist there, who used to be part of the Obama administration, immediately said to Gingrich, "That is not true!" .....that Soros did not give money to DA's in various cities, to which Gingrich answered, " It IS true, Marie..."  but then another panelist jumped in to say, "Let's move along," in an effort to change to another subject quickly.

It was a tense moment for the panelists, but an amusing moment for viewers who know the truth of what Gingrich was saying.
