Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Letters From An American

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Sandra,

We knew you despised Trump long ago.

Biden took documents out of the SKIFF (or however it is spelled) when he was a Senator.  He took more documents when he was a VP too, which is illegal.

Stealing stuff out of the SKIFF is a definite 'no-no.'

He also showed some of his documents to people either at his home or at his UPenn office, even though he says he didn't.

To say that he shouldn't be charged because he would evoke empathy, is a false assumption. The statement is an opinion.

The fact that he is old and doddering is not a legal excuse.

Trump took documents, but so did Joe, and Joe did it at times when he wasn't even a president.  Trump was told that he COULD take his papers, but he was advised incorrectly with bad advice.

I just saw James Carville on the news saying that Biden's not accepting the interview offered to him before the Super Bowl game, is very telling.  Carville said that not doing that interview, which would have been seen by most of the US, says, in effect, that either Biden doesn't feel that it would be good for him, or his staff doesn't feel that it would be good for him.

Sandra,

Your subjective view of Trump (post #29586) is actually not too bad a description of the objective reality of Dem behavior. But, as Janalu indicates, Trump Derangement Syndrome is truly a major problem for your Party, and certainly by extension for ALL of us since we all have to suffer the consequences of such an irrational mental disorder. TDS obviously greatly affects negatively those folks' judgment. I truly believe TDS is WAY more of a problem for this country that the truly-faux problems of climate change, white supremacy, a government shutdown (70% of US national spending is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, even before the Biden (really Obama) alien invasion), etc. ad nauseum...........

Interesting mailbox. I hear you can pick these up for a song! David Mercer and I were "temporary substitute letter carriers" the summer of 1970 from the Spring Creek shopping center post office at northwest corner of Arapaho & Coit. And I LOVED curb boxes like this one! YEE HAW!

By the way, if anybody didn't know, that was the late Eddie Van Halen (1955-2020) who's standing next to my buddy in that 2nd photo of the 5 pics about half a page back from here. Surely I don't have to help anybody with the person's identity in the 1st one (or last one, for that matter).

My choices so far:

Trump --- no
Biden --- no
Ron DeSantis - he made my no for me
Hailey --- I haven't heard nearly what I need to know about her and her politics, but so far, I'm leaning Right

I do like what she said on X/Twitter - "Are we really going to have two 80-year-olds running for the presidency?" (inferring 'No' of course)

wink

David W,

Despite some of the pundits I listen to & that keep thinking Biden is still running, I disagree with them (for months now), especially after that report & press conference. I've thought Biden just can't run since he's so far gone and much worse than just 4 years ago, due to the dementia.

Newt Gingrich made a great point on FNC (where else). After this AWFUL report of Joe's many felonies over DECADES, in which the DOJ cover for him, anyway Newt said, just like the ridiculous James Comey decision not to prosecute serial felon Hillary (33K deleted subpoenaed emails, bleach bit & sledge hammers to her incriminating electronic devices, just for starters), this was the same decision on Biden - by a complicit Executive Department cancer. Also as Newt pointed out, we put demented and/or insane people behind bars all the time. And they CERTAINLY have the goods on Joe in his reckless (typical - ever heard of the Afghanistan debacle, the most embarrassing moment in our nation's history IMHO? WAY WORSE than the shameful Nam pullout) decades-long, felonious mishandling of secret documents.

But now on to Gingrich's GREAT POINT. We just have to have the Dems, if they have even an OUNCE of morality/decency about them remaining (VERY questionable in my mind), initiate what should be an IMMEDIATE BIPARTISAN move to invoke the 25th amendment to replace Joe with Kamala. As dumb and awful as she is, we just can't have a total gone-fool like Joe at the nuke-bomb controls.

The report should have ended in Joe's quick indictment or impeachment or removal. If he can't even stand trial, then he has ZERO business as head of the free world, regardless of his from-youth & now chronically bankrupt ethics or brains. We are already SO vulnerable with all his 100% boneheaded decisions (thanks, Barack ,for NO moral courage trying to do your awful, TOTAL agenda when you were in office, you coward - but you were too smart since you knew even some of the left and also most moderates would never buy into such neoMarxist foolishness), that I truly believe we will be SUFFERING GREATLY (physically especially for any of we survivors) and that's not that long into our futures, if we don't get HELP AND SOON.

Again it is SO simple. Biden, IMMEDIATELY in the best interests of EVERYBODY, needs to be removed NOW by invoking the 25th amendment and we get Kamala - at least she (hopefully) can remember things and be somewhat cognizant & able to react to our mortal enemies China, Iran, North Korea, etc. At least she didn't sell out our country (that I know of) in a decades-long influencing-peddling scheme so she wouldn't have that constant conflict-of-interest and fear of exposure Joe has had to fight with in that same time span.

The report does NOT absolve Joe of guilt; if you don't know this, again and ad infinitum, please START listening to some media outlets that will give you some truth. Therefore LOGICALLY, if Joe can't be tried due to his mental state, he needs to be removed from office. PERIOD. AND he also needs to be indicted since they've WITHOUT THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT, GOT HIM NAILED - if any of you want to know why, then just watch Mark Levin or some other FNC truth source on this latest embarrassing report about worthless Joe.

My final thought is that Red China, after observing this latest Dem fiasco the past week, might decide, no we just can't wait until we take Taiwan, we better nuke the US or otherwise take them out via the electric grid, military, etc. (they should have the intel & ability to do that, maybe) since - THE REDS MAY THINK that Joe could get deluded into thinking that we're prematurely taking back Taiwan OR taking out the US totally and beats us to the punch - LAUNCH NOW, says the EVIL Chairman.

In conclusion, David W, yes you will be able to vote Dem for somebody other than totally compromised Joe if you want to this November - unless my fears ARE realized, a VERY possible occurrence, rendering us not  only of ZERO help against them but also causing us to scramble for months or years just to survive the holocaust conditions that China, could likely inflict on us pretty much anytime now, right? Even failure Tony Blinken publicly warned the entire nation a couple of weeks ago - YIKES!!!!! HOWEVER, in any case, I just can't see Joe's running, but also why in the world would you ever vote Dem again after the last, 4, 10, 40+, or 120+ years? The only thing progressive about the Dems has been their progressive descent into the evil they are now.

8 Potential Candidates To Replace Biden Before The Election
Politics · Feb 9, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
Article Image

With the Department of Justice's Special Counsel report calling President Biden's mental competency into question, there is renewed speculation that Democrats may seek to replace Biden on the ballot in the upcoming presidential election. But who would they pick on such short notice?

The Babylon Bee has exclusively obtained the following list of potential replacement candidates:

  1. Taylor Swift: Though many saw it coming, years of meticulous Deep State planning is finally coming to fruition.
  2. President Xi: He's been running the country behind the scenes for years, so he might as well make it official.
  3. Claudine Gay: Just imagine all of the amazing State of the Union speeches throughout history that we'd get to hear again.
  4. Chris Pratt: He's already appearing in every other role. Why not president?
  5. One of Biden's many body doubles: It would be a seamless transition.
  6. Daniel Day-Lewis: The only man more qualified than Joe Biden to pretend to be a president.
  7. Harry Truman: Just like Joe Biden, he has presidential experience and he passed away years ago.
  8. A life-sized wax sculpture of Joe Biden: No one would know the difference.

Marty,

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Since the Cowboys don't have a chance to reach even the NFC Championship Game, I'm rooting for THE BEST QB & the Chiefs to get an unprecedented 3-peat in the Big Game.

Wayne,

Thanks for your funny post. I have heard the names Claudine Gay and Chris Pratt and I'll now have to go look them up.

OH. Claudine Gay is the now-demoted (as I said, you can't fire equity hires) ex-President of Harvard! No wonder her name was so UN-noteworthy to me!

Don't remember seeing anything Chris Pratt was in. I kinda recognize his face maybe?

Hey Y'all!

How many times have you heard the word "gratuitous" this past weekend?  Do ya' think we are being gaslighted just a little bit?

HA!

Lowell,

The reason the Republicans refused the bill is that the bill DID NOT bring the illegal entry number well below 1,000, as Jeh Johnson, Obama's guy, recommended a long time ago.  AND......there were a number of points buried deep inside the bill, that CODIFIED issues that Republicans are against, such as beginning a pathway to citizenshiip for illegals, which is an issue Republicans want to hash-out in debate over the next years ahead.

It is my opinion that anytime Schumer is heading up the writing of bills, suspect that there will be issues hidden in the bill which are sneaky and NOT what Republicans are wanting.  We have learned that we can count on him to muck-up the whole shebang, and then snicker about it with his cohorts behind the scene.  He learned well from Harry Reid.

02/12/24 12:47 PM #29003

Jim Bedwell

Lowell,

I didn't watch your video, but the reason that bill was not passed was that it was an awful bill institutionalizing our current Obama/Biden alien invasion with 1.8 million illegals allowed in ANNUALLY. AND we need to address OUR border problem before we worry about the wars that Biden's weakness caused and Trump's strength would not have (at least the Ukraine mess - the Muslims are as relentless as their kindred spirits, our Dem politicians). So if the 24/7-rotten Demonrats want a bill for those purposes, they should pass one or two, instead of trying to dupe their voters into thinking it's all the Republicans' fault.

Lady Lanajuju,

Yes, as always, you know that the corrupt legacy media's perpetual use of the same phrases/words for the same DUMB statements that that group-think produces, involves NO original thinking (nor any self-reflection either).

Like Twain said:

"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man".

Actually if you're wondering about that non-sequitur of a Twain statement, I just threw a favorite in there when I couldn't find his quote saying something like, when you find yourself agreeing with the majority of opinion, it's past time to review it.

Also here's a good Twain quote that expresses the difference between Trump and the Dem politicians/intelligentsia (a paper intelligentsia at most).

"It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not to deserve them."

Lady Lanajuju,

Schumer made 1600 on the SAT; he probably taught corrupt Harry Reid to be even more corrupt. That current slimeball Senator, as we both know as saved people, since he was given so much at birth and holds such a position of responsibility, will have TONS more than most sinners to answer for at the judgment seat before he's tossed into the nether world.

"But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Luke 12:48 (NIV)

By the way, in the training sessions for the post office in the summer of 1970, we were told to watch our driving since, according to statistics, 3 of our fellow classmates there would be involved in an accident. Also we were requested to, if possible, hit that parked VW rather than the parked Cadillac. After that summer when Mercer and I were back at Austin College, he told me that he had been 1 of those 3 - BIG HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!

Marty,

I don't know about your other sports preferences, but the Mavericks just picked up 2 young, lean forwards that they DESPERATELY needed, and for almost nothing in return, in my view. So those 2 go with draft pick Lively, injured a lot this year but another athleticism-like-a-guard BiG (guy, even for the NBA) like the new pickup Gafford. I see the Mavs as actual title contenders now since they already have 2 of the greatest talents ever in the NBA in Doncic AND Kyrie. They wiped out Oklahoma City the other night by over 30 points at home. AND very-young OKC is a great team this year with only upside in their future IMHO.

Plus, like your (and my brother's) Mahomes, maybe we shouldn't ignore one Bruce Bochy & his team!

Don't follow pro hockey anymore.

Which leaves us with the Cowboys. NEVER MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MANY HAPPY RETURNS

By the grace of others here and for reasons not clearly understood, I’ve been reinstated with full privileges to rejoin and post with you my activities and remembrances of our RHS Class of 1969!

If indeed I’m returning by popular demand, the quote from another Sicilian godfather Michael Corleone comes to mind: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!"

Oh well.

Prompted by Saturday’s query from Hollis OTOS…I thought I’d restart my posts here with a re-post below of my recent activities including my current interests that I find most interesting in the news.  While I have little interest in US political discussions lately, I do find geopolitics and the effects of de-globalization to be more fascinating these days.

Hollis,

As you may have gleaned from my years on the Forums, my daily stimulation comes from subject matter discussions like History, Technology, AI, the Arts, Faith, Truth…and integrating these things while parenting my son….you know unlike today’s politics…the virtuous things that really matter for living life to the full!

For examples, last month on our Austin trip to the Castilian Reunion with TT and the guys, I gave Christopher a tour of UT…including our dorm room, the campus 1883 history, plus “my history” there 55 years ago!

That same weekend in Galveston while boarding the newest Carnival ship Jubilee, we toured with some of its executive crew as their first GreenShip in the fleet powered by LNG…with a completely self-sustaining water and waste treatment plant!

Another example from my business networking last week, I met and introduced the CEO of e-Muscle Cars https://www.e-musclecars.com/,  (they are a start-up business in Denton that convert vintage muscle cars into EV cars), to a group of muscle cars owners in Dallas who are likely buyers & investors in the start-up!

Christopher now being 16 at RHS and a reluctant driver...he and I will tour this e-car production facility next week on Presidents Day.

Yesterday,  I dropped Christopher off with 1000 Middle & High School kids to have fun at EVO in Southlake  at Watermark DTown

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnK5G3C-_A4&t=5s

followed by an overnighter...talking about balancing digital life with cellphones and Jesus.

Hello kids…tap tap tap…can y’all hear Him now?

Anyways when it comes to direction, I keep my hands and heart full with raising a busy 16-year old teenager!

So glad to hear that you're enjoying your retirement while visiting places like MIA, and hopefully toured my fave Art Deco City by the beach!  I’ve never ever done the Everglades…did you see any pythons & gators & bears?…oh my!

So in conclusion Hollis,...sorry...I know you hate ending a post this way...I don’t really miss posting these days…life keeps me pleasantly and joyfully distracted elsewhere!

Hoping UdU 2,

L&c

PS - I'm betting the KC Swifts beat the 49ers by 7.

Subject: YOUNG MONK

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand.

He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, 'We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son.'

He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery — where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years.

Hours go by and nobody sees the old Abbot . . .

So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing.

His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably. The young monk asks the old Abbot, 'What's wrong, father?'

We missed the R !
We missed the R !
We missed the R !'

With a choking voice, the old Abbot replies, 'The word was...
'CELEBRATE !!!
