Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

I can't remember if I posted this before. The link was forwarded to me by a female classmate.

Just saw a website that had as its headline: PUTIN CONVINCED BIDEN IS NOT RUNNING THE COUNTRY.

Get outta here!!

Pretty darn bad when the whole world knows how messed up the US is, isn't it?

No wonder wars are breaking out everyhere and our country is being invaded by who-knows-who, where we will see enemies begin to attack us internally.

Evidence abounding that everyone knows the US is super weak and feckless; rudderless.

Can we survive until the next election?

Please guide us Almighty God!  We desperately need your help!

Jerry,

Speaking of Jimmie Vaughan, he just doesn't compare to his little brother. I've talked to many people about him, and some say , "Oh, he just plays differently than Stevie". OK, so maybe he does play differently, but did you ever witness one of his guitar solos? Truly awful, he should know that he's really not much more than a good rhythm guitarist. I was talking to Florida guitar ace, Rusty Wright, and he said something like this about Jimmie, "His solos start awkwardly, they go nowhere, and end poorly and not nearly soon enough". AMEN, BROTHER!!! hahahahahahhaa!!!

Lady Lanajuju,

EXACTLY, as always with you!!

What I don't understand is what is holding back Red Menace, Chairman Zhee from taking Taiwan?

Chief Irritant

Jerry,

Also the only time and LAST time ever that I saw Jimmie Vaughan was in Portland about 10 years ago. At the merch table afterward, I told him that I was Robin Siler's best friend in elementary school, and he acknowledged that - he, his brother, Robin, and Robin's other good friend from Dealey Elementary, late bass player Waller "Sonny" Collie, self-described yellow-dog Democrat (he ended our conversations a few years before his death in 2019), all of them were living & performing in Austin in the early & mid 70's.

Anyway I said nothing then to Jimmie about his very disappointing performance but mentioned how I thought his brother was along with Hendrix, the best guitarists ever. He just stood there without a word and you could tell he didn't like hearing that. So I just moved along. Kinda weird, but actually understandable to me; he probably resented his little brother's completely surpassing him. I hope Jimmie never makes the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame because it would be solely on his brother's coattails.

Jimmie's induction into the Hall would be as ridiculous as Biddy McPhee's election to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Check out his record on-line - the only remarkable thing was that he didn't use a glove in the field (at least some of the time), but this does come from my faulty memory.

A Houston pub owner friend of mine, his girlfriend, and myself had three tickets to the Vaughn Brothers at Sam Houston Collesium in the 80's...

This was not the show, but illustrates...

One of our tickets was on row 2 and the others further back...I got row 2 for the double axe song...

PS  neither one of them could play the scales like Garcia or Segovia.

Lowell,

I saw Leo Kottke many times and got his autographs on all his stuff. He asked me why I did that? I said I just like having autographs, especially of ace guitarists and that he was 1 of my 10 favorites and the only acoustic guitarist, not electric. He said, yes, well, he did remember that he was VERY pleased when he got Segovia's autograph in Europe once. YEE HAW!!!

And yes, the two bros could play together. But unless I see something different from Jimmie, and that won't be in person, I can't see changing my opinion about his abilities - he's a good rhythm guitarist - stay with strumming chords, dude!

Good news and bad news for President Biden.

Good news: Special Counsel will not pursue charges against Biden for stealing and illegally stashing government documents in his garage.

Bad news: Biden is clearly guilty, and he "knew he kept classified information in notebooks stored in his house and he knew he was not alowed to do so." However, he is so feeble that, according to the report,  "he would present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory". In other words, athough guilty, he wouldn't be convicted. Biden couldn't remember what year his son died or what years he was Vice President.

This is our president.

I still think there is a good probability that Biden will pull out of the election. Some senior Dems are going to pull him aside and say something like Republicans said to Nixon to get Nixon to resign.

Or maybe they can say something like my wife's obstetrician said to her after 18 unsuccessful hours of labor: "You've run your race." It will take a political Caesarian section to remove Biden.

I saw a video of Biden from just a year ago, and he has clearly declined since then. Add four years?? Ridiculous.

The Dems will get rid of him and rally happily around Governor Newsom or someone else.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

I think there is NO WAY the Dems can continue to push this guy forward as presidential material.

Will they bring out 'Slick'?

Well, I would prefer him to Michelle!  Michelle has admitted a number of times how much she is disenchanted with America, as she still sees it very tainted with racism.  She said she feared for her daughters to be driving around our streets, as Black women.  She made that comment only a short time ago.  She likes Europe and the way those people run their countries over there.  She and her husband have wanted to bring that whole concept here to our land, the sooner the better.

Lady Lanajuju,

"Slick" Willie Clinton can't run - he had 2 terms already.

02/08/24 07:56 PM #28955

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

You know which 'Slick' I was referring to, you rascal!

Slick, "The younger," as Bill O'Reilly would say.

Bill is always saying, "George The Younger," when talking about the younger George W. Bush, as relating to either he, or his father.

02/08/24 08:02 PM #28956

Jim Bedwell

No I don't. Gavin Newsom? You can't mean Kamala.

02/08/24 08:09 PM #28957

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Yes, you do....

Mr. Slick, the guy who looks like he was a model for GQ magazine in his younger days, for the California modeling scene

DuckDuckGo it and see if he indeed was a young model needing the money, at the time.

Gosh for bid , I hope everyone who graduated in 1969 takes this forum with a grain of salt . None of you should ever take anything that is said this forum as factual.. including mine.  I encourage all of you to think for yourselves and use your own brain to do your own research and not rely this site for your information.

In response to David's comment , " Biden is clearly guilty, and he "knew he kept classified information in notebooks stored in his house and he knew he was not allowed to do so."

Not only did Trump declined to return his stache of documents at Mar-a- lago despite more than a year's worth of government demands but he also took steps to encouraged others around him to conceal the records.  It took a raid to retrieve his boxes of files.

Biden cooperated immediately to return the files from his home at the first request.  I believe he didn't confiscate the files with malicious intent.

In my book , the man with a total of 91 felony charges should march off into the woods and never to be seen again. Republicans can do better that !   Please.!

And the Senate republicans blocking the bipartisan immigration bill makes me sick to my stomach.

Good night ............ :-) smiley

No, I really didn't. I never heard of Slick, a wrestler. No wonder.

Jan,

You really should watch "The Five" for a week. That's real journalism, not the sources you're obviously relying on. The stuff you just said has more than 1 error in it - I'm talking facts, not opinions, if you want to discuss, which you probably won't. Continuing as a "low-information" voter does nobody, including yourself, any good.

02/08/24 08:32 PM #28961

Funny it was mentioned that Newsom should run...  Really , watch it... it is interesting..  watch the whole thing..please..

I will look up where the FIVE can be seen.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Jan,

Most of us saw the debate on FoxNews between Newsom and Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis far out-shown Gavin Newsom.  Newsom couldn't explain many situations that had transpired in his own state of CA, during his term(s) in office.  He looked pretty darn foolish and pathetic as a leader.

But I feel sure that was a broadcast you didn't even know happened not too long ago.

That's not to say that Newsom can't be an interesting interview on a talk show.  He IS a graduate of higher education.

Jan Alexander

Janalu, I don't expect anything different from you. Hope u watched this anyway..this is how the other half of America feels..

02/08/24 09:14 PM #28964

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Well Jan,

I didn't expect you to understand the tenor, or agree with what we were discussing earlier either, but I will watch the clip.  I think Bill Maher has mellowed lately, and I sometimes find him amusing, to a degree.  I think Newsom is a reasonable guy and family man, but I don't like the ideas he has when governing.  He could change though, if he desires.

I would have voted for Nikki or DeSantis, but it doesn't look like it will be in the cards this year.  Trump is a man who is boorish and sophomoric at times, but his governing philosophies have been fairly good so far.  Now what might happen in the future is to be hoped for in a good way for our country.  We are facing some BIG enemies coming up soon. Some truly scary stuff on the horizon.....

Janalu- huli... I did miss the broadcast and have tried to find the full debate but only can find youtube short 3 minute clips.. of poop on the streets of SF. etc.

Don't give up hope on Nikki ..a lot of democrats are voting in the Republican PRImaries for Nikki..and there independents in the land, too .

Watching The Greatest Night in Pop on Netflix. It is a documentary about the making of the We Are the World video that raised money for the starving in Africa in the mid-80s. Very interesting. So many performers at the top of their games in one room. Quincy Jones conducting. Can you imagine trying to wrangle Micheal Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson, Bob Dylan, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Cindy Lauper, Huey Lewis, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Loggins, Paul Simon, Harry Bellafonte, Lionel Ritchie etc.? It was taped late at night and deep into the morning right after the American Music Awards because all these recording Artists would be in Los Angeles at the same time. It was funny to watch them get each other's autographs. Lionel Ritchie had hosted the AMAs and won six awards, then went to the We Are the World session. When he got home at 8 AM after We Are the World, that's all he could talk about with his family. They didn't know what he was talkng about.

Jim,

I call Newsom 'Slick' because of the way he slicks his hair back.

Some talking heads call him Mr. Hair Gel from California.

Jim:

I feel the same way about Jimmy Vaughn and have felt that way for a long time. When we were in high school, I remember that the consensus was that he was really good - about the best in the Dallas area. I thought so too, but then, I was not as good as he was, back then. Now that I learned more about the guitar and I've lived through possibly an age of music that spawned what will probably be known as the greatest guitarists of all time, I can not put him in that group.

I went to Eric Clapton's Crossroads festival in Dallas many years back. Listening to all those great guitarists was just overwhelming to me. Eric Clapton, B B King, Billy Gibbons, John Mayer (who really surprised me), Jeff Beck, and other really good ones were playing in jam at the end. I saw one after the other back off and let someone else do a solo. I even saw BB King and others back off and motioned to Jimmy Vaughn to take his turn. It almost embarrassed me to a point. It was almost like they invited him on stage because he was related to Stevie and were letting him play despite his actual talent.

As an aside - back when we were in high school and looked up to Jimmy Vaughn, I remember a time when Stevie was a joke of sorts. I'm sure Tommy will remember my story about that angel.

(I just checked - I had no idea - I had forgotten that the Crossroads festival  in Dallas happened 20 years ago, in 2004!)
