Message Forum

Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Do I dare poke fun in this " midnight deary , I pondered, weak and weary. Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer". wink

Happy Halloween GIF by Fran Solo

"The small dot represents our time here."  as Holly said.

AND to repeat this with a touch of humor:

I keep thinking of poor Rodney King and his "Can't we all just get along."

Jan,

I like the photo of the black bird.  Do you know if it is a female grackle, or a crow, or a raven?

I suspect it is a crow, since its location is in southwestern US, I believe.

It is a great photo for this Halloween season.

Your captured crow makes me smile.

I used to hear crows in Richardson, when I was in kindergarten and first grade, just outside my bedroom window, since we lived right across from two large fields of wheat-like grasses.  Their early morning squawks used to make me think of scarecrows I had seen in my storybooks.

Now I am reminded of that early memory.  Isn't it funny what triggers our minds, sometimes?

I decided to write of this, since I think there are those who think I only write of subjects that they don't enjoy hearing.  I'm not sure that what I enjoy discussing is proper for this forum, as many like only jovial material and old memories.  I'll try to be more lighthearted more often.

Janahuli , For this moment , lets call it a "Raven.".. since I was quoting Edgar Allan Poe smiley

Another favorite of mine, that keeps my soul light.

IN other words...... Keep your eyes on the big picture, not this "kerfuffle".

Bob,

I was commenting to my husband last night about that guy too; that Rodney King guy.  When he stepped to a microphone to speak, I remember that he had a beginning stutter.  He said, "Ca-Ca-Ca-Can't we all just get along?"

The answer appears to be, "No. We aren't trying."   We SHOULD try, try, try and even try much harder, like we've been taught, but......well, I guess "the flesh is weak."  (And getting weaker every day...)

We are a mess, and the whole world is a mess.

But.......we can chew some bubblegum and throw Frisbees to the frolicking doggie, who is so glad to be outside with his master, whom he loves so much!   (Can you tell that I'm trying to be more positive and joyful?)

Lady and Gentleman Eagles -

Over the years of reading these posts I’ve recognized a propensity of quite a few participants to judge, blame, criticize, and generally cast dispersions on other members. I am reminded of the old expression that when you point a finger at someone(s) you have three fingers pointing back at you.

With the latest crescendo of the Lance deletion event, I feel the desire to interject a possibly counter point of view  to this type of proceeding.

As I move toward my ending on this earth and recognize that my job has been complete in most of my (so far) major life endeavors, much of which involves having launched 2 beloved

sons into this upset world, my new mission is to interject into life on this planet, a greater sense of peace, love and understanding.  Whether I like it or not, I reflect daily on the question “Was I in alignment with my mission today?”

My belief is that the only successful contribution I can make to this endeavor is to diminish myself - to cease trying to be policeman, judge and jury of others around me - even to let go of my sense of moral superiority and sole custodianship of right and wrong.

If there are others of you who are in alignment, that “fire with fire“ is an ineffective way to produce lasting positive outcomes, please join me in trying to be a superlative influence on this planet. That influence begins in our community.

IMHO.

Ron,

Who EXACTLY are the 3 people in your photo? For the life of me, I STILL am having trouble identifying even ONE of those folks. HELP!!!

Jan,

LOVED the crow pics. I wonder if that bird is contemplating that arch like I am. As in, it looks like there's a boot at the right bottom of that arch and it looks like it's stepping on a couple of somebody's fingers..........plus the whole thing looks like a still-standing body with everything else above the belt line (interesting 2 words) GONE! That arch should be called Bootfingers' Revenge.

Sandra:

(re: AFIB)

I thought I knew (at one point) how often I was having AFIB. Early on, I could tell every single time I went into AFIB. It progressed and progressed. It turns out, I was having many more "episodes" than I thought. My cardiologist had me wear a monitor for a week or so. He even found out I was having more than he thought. One of my symptoms turned out to be extreme fatigue, occurring quite often.

The cure for this was an ablation. I haven't had any more attacks/episodes since then.

David W/Sandra,

My 70-year-old little brother had afibrillation and doesn't (can't if he wants to survive for any length of time) drink anymore. That procedure he had to go through to actually fix the problem took 8-16 hours, I can't remember the  exact amount of excessive time he had to endure; due to our family history, we've both had many colonoscopies and he said that prep & procedure was TONS more pleasant than the heart surgery.

Funny, at first I thought you were tripping..but now as I get my magnifying glass, I see what you see. Chuckle.chuckle.

Yikes! Looks like Biden ordered bombing of Syrian sites that have been shooting at U.S. troops.

I support him in this.

Most are watching and concerned with Gaza and Israel's actions.   All the reporters seem to have left Ukraine and gone to Israel/Palestine.

Ukraine has basically been slaughtering the Russians.   54 tanks destroyed, attacking to re take Crimea, defending and retaking other regions in the Southest.

I did see one report Russian troops are gathering on Finland's border.

If they totally back out of Ukraine, watchout...they are also being trained for nuclear procedures.

Avdiivka is where a lot of fighting is going on

It's is pronounced   Ahv  Dee eye Vee Kah

BBC article says Russians are shooting their own deserters.

That area is/was a Russian "separatist" populated area...Those type areas had been Russian sympathetic (anit Euro) for years and years...

The answer to your question about the people in the picture on my post is Bill And Bonnie Hearne and myself. The picture was taken by Glenn Messmer back in October 2017 or 2018 just outside of their home in Santa Fe, NM. I always see them when I am out that way. We all had just gone to lunch. Unfortunately Bonnie passed away about a year after this picture. I have been friends with them since the Rubaiyat Coffee House days of me playing there back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. That is where I met them before they married.

If anyone has not heard of them, just google them. It is a pretty impressive music career.
