Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Hey, Tommy, I'm on to you now, and don't play dumb. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I can't imagine that I would be interacting with you ever again but I'll still be praying for you. And don't bother calling or coming by here; I won't answer.

Tommy, I think I have Jim's comment figured out.   That's really him you are mock kissing in the photo, and he's upset you haven't divulged the player involved.

Oh well...

Upsetting news on Bob Davidson.   I wish the family all the best.

Been dealing with some of my mother's health issues lately.  Got a call from the Assisted Living place that my mother was "bleeding" yesterday .  Specifically where was the issue.  I was told her medication that she has taken for the last 25 years was the likley suspect.  Turns out the blood was from the bladder.  EMT's were called and mother was transported to Medical City Weatherford.   Blood work normal.  Urine revealed a UTI.  A few hours later she was back at the Assisted Living place.   I got her the antibiotics and delivered them.  No blood since, but mother fell that evening and now has a bruised foot, which I have just recieved a photo of this morning.  She won't eat, and she needs to to take the meds.

Surprisingly I am not stressed by this.  Perhaps it is due to me letting go and realizing I can't do much about this.  There is also this:  I see lately that there are folks out there dealing with things so much worse than I have to deal with.  Steve and his family.  Bob and his family.  Me, my stuff is nothing compared to that.  My heart goes out to all out there with life's ups and downs.  This too shall pass.

My dear Sandra and all ,

Don't diminish what you are dealing with when caring for your Mom..  It is one the biggest, trying responsibilites in life that we experience.  Please, that breaks my heart what you are saying about your Mom and your saga not being of equal value.  It is all important , up there with Steve and family and David and his family.  All of you have my thoughts and prayers for getting through this time of loss at all levels.

Awesome Rangers game tonight to at least push the Astros to a 7th game for the ALCS!

After being booed each time he came to the plate, after the other night....Adolis Garcia quieted the Houston fans hitting a Grand Slam late to make the score 9-2! (his previous 4 trips to the plate were strikeouts, and the fans cheered) I actually felt sorry for him. But revenge had to be sweet when he hit the GS!

This is worth another look! Especially since Garcia was booed coming up.....and then cheered when he struck out after 4 trips. The 5th time up was very different story!

Jerry, the "mantle" of pressure now seems to be about 51% on the Rangers to win, and only 49% on the Astros.

The 7th game will come down to bullpens, IMHO...but, having said that, I could easily be wrong.

Dusty had to decide on keeping Brian Abreu in after the 7th inning.   Raphael Montero has been sketchy at best all season...(got a big contract after great 2022.)   Worrying about whether Abreu would be suspended for game 7 or not was an issue.   If he knew Abreu would have been out for game 7, he would have kept him in the gam instead of Montero for the 8th inning.

As time from the "beaning" has gone by, the consensus is the cause of the whole fiasco in game 5 was caused by the rather overheated reaction of Garcia from being plunked.   That being said, all six umpires agreed.  But the umpires don't know Abreu's demeanor/character...He looks like a humongous thug...he is more gentile in nature.

The reaction of Garcia was warranted, and we can't go back, but it is what elevated everything.

Hoping that the Rangers win, but....

How many times in a seven game series that goes the distance has the home team lost every game?

Martha, Hollis Heyn, and I visited Steve Keene Saturday evening. He seemed to be in relatively good spirits, but he obviously doesn't want to be where he is. I am not sure what the future holds.

Thank everyone for the kind comments. I had it nicely pointed out to me that it is 2023, not 2020 so Terry and I were together for 18 years.

The 2019 World Series between Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.

Houston had home field advantage.   They lost two at home, won all three road games, and lost the remaining two home games to lose in 7.

This is a perfect setup for the Rangers.

I think it's a toss up.

Hey Chief Jimi!

Did you watch Mark Levin last night?

It was a profound program and was exactly what our country needed to hear.

I watched the program twice to doubly absorb it all.

In the last portion of the program, Levin had Rev. Hagy of San Antonio on to speak about how The Bible tells why the world's problem is happening, as we have heard before over the years.

I won't go into the facts here, since I know that our forum readers don't like to hear politics in discussions.

If you have any interest, you can see the program on (YOUTUBE: Mark Levin: This is 'full story' on the infiltration of America)

Just heard on TV, a Jewish commentator was told by a Columbia Univ. professor ( an Israeli prof.) that Jewish students at the university can no longer be protected, and are in an unsafe environment.  He wants their parents to know of the safety problem, right away.  NYC is not a safe environment, currently.

Sandra,

Yes, the speaker situation is a clusterf*ck.

Matt Gaetz is not a Republican or a conservative. He is a Gaetzian. A punk. I would like to see a cartoon of a baby with Gaetz's face substituted for the baby's.

That said, only 8 Republicans voted to remove McCarthy -- 4%. All the Democrats -- over 200 -- did. It was a big yuck at the time, but Democrats had it totally within their power to stop the insanity if just a handful had peeled off. As usual, they voted` in a unified block.

There can be no political middle ground -- no moderation --  when one side votes together on almost every issue. Party discipline cuts both ways.

Even now, Democrats should recognize that Hakeem Jeffries is not going to be elected speaker and agree to support a Republican without expecting anything in return other than the knowledge that they are doing the right thing.

Bob D - be strong and know we here on the Forum support you 100%.

Janalu - you would be correct that females at RHS had to wear skirts or dresses, period.

Lowell - I don't blame B Abreu for 'plunking' (not beaning) A Garcia in Game 5.  Garcia asked for it with his poor display of 'sportsmanship' in game 4, by carrying his bat halfway down the 1st base line, then slamming it to the ground.  A real ballplayer would have just dropped his bat, near home plate, and trotted around the bases.  We fans have to put up with this BS constantly, and then, the following day, see made-up internet controversies about bad calls, would-be outs, would-be home runs, etc.

B Abreu drew a two-game suspension for the obvious HBP.  The problem with that is, the commish deferred the suspension to next year's regular season.  That's a crock of ____.  I'm actually proud that a Texas team will be in the World Series this year.  I guess I would prefer the Rangers - so they can get the 'monkey off their back'.  But I always 'kinda' liked the Astros for various reasons, mostly when they had N Ryan pitching for them.

The biggest issue I have with the ALCS is that the first 6 games were broadcast on FS1, which is not a local channel here.  HUGE MISTAKE.  I believe tonights final game is on a regular FOX channel.  Probably will watch some of it.  I am an Oakland A's fan - being from Missouri and moving from Richardson to S Californication in the summer of 1968, the same year the A's moved from KC to CA.  Since my older sister lived in San Fran during my college years, I would sometimes leave her place and go over to Oakland to take in a sunday game, which always began at 1 pm.  I could get back to Cal Poly before dark...  One great memory was the WS Game 4 in 1972, when the A's rallied with 2 in the ninth inning to take a 3-2 series lead over Cincy.  I had the worst seat in the stadium, but it didn't matter - I was there!  All of those series games were decided by 1 run, except game 6.

Marty,

Showing off is one thing. Intentionally throwing a 100 mile per hour baseball at someone is on a completely different level. Remember Tony Conigliaro? From Wikipedia:

On August 18, 1967, the Red Sox were playing the California Angels at Fenway Park. Conigliaro, batting against Jack Hamilton, was hit by a pitch on his left cheekbone and was carried off the field on a stretcher. He sustained a linear fracture of the left cheekbone and a dislocated jaw with severe damage to his left retina.

He played after that, but was never the same because his vision was affected.

The only way to discourage throwing at a batter is to be quick to eject the pitcher if it appears that it was intentional. And if the manager makes too big a deal out of it, toss him too.

I think it borders on assault with a deadly weapon.

Maybe the hit batsman should take a home run swing at the catcher, to keep him from impeding him from taking a home run swing at the pitcher. Catchers always grab the batter to keep him from getting to the pitcher.

Marty, good take.   It is hard to find, but baseball historians know history of playoff suspensions which were not immediately enforced, but were the next season.   I googled it and ran a bunch of pages with no hit.  Just a whole lot of BS on this year's Abreu suspension.

I do remember however, in 2017 when Yuli Guriel was in LA and sort of made fun of a Japanese player by finger pulling his eyes to the side and laughing.   He was suspended 2 games for that...but they let it go until the next season for enforcement.

There was another one I had in my mind, but I can't remember it...just that it was Manfred saying he thought it would be bad to have the playoffs affected by a suspension.   After all, it might be a superstar like Judge, or an Otani, or Bryce Harper...

I am sort of in agreement it should be immediate, but it could be a 7th game WS final with a huge superstar who broke a rule...

Criminal, illegal betting, or PED violations showing at the last minute would make delaying interesting...

Plus, no one has said anything about the Players Association feelings on this issue.   Perhaps it is addressed in the collective bargaining agreement.

By the way, writing this as I watch the Phillies (home team) lose, just like the Astros did.  Home recordfor the Astros is 40 wins and 46 losses and on the road 56 30.
