Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

MISS JAN ALEXANDER, you were one of my favorite people at RHS. Remember you as this bouncy sassy blonde that was always positive and FUN!

Can't believe my mother was nice to you! She was a holy terror!!!

Had a college boyfriend that picked mother up and set her atop the fridge.

Told her to please calm down! She threw him out of the house.! We called her "Little Mussolini"

You thinking my mother was nice to you speaks volumes to your POSITIVE PERSONA!

Imagining your heart is as liberal as mine!

Think we must nod our heads and bear it when it comes to opinions we both know are just wrong!

There are so many MAN cookbooks aren't there!

Men are such lovely simple counterparts....just give 'em food and sex and they are HAPPY!

Will post a recipe and see how it goes over.

Thanks for bike tip! $800 vs injury is good investment!

My youngest is competing cyclist...4 torn ACL's, plastic surgery bills

and multiple wrecked bikes... SHE LOVES IT.

Lost an Italian friend to a biking accident. A driver hit him blinded by the morning light.
You ain't kidding about biking dangers.

Would love to see you again... will write when I am in Dallas for lunch outing.

Hey Russ!

You were also one of my favorite people at RHS!

You were such a sweet young man to my Mom and Dad!
Everyone adored you!

What's so funny is that my Scott dad made the Marinara and Bolognese.

My Italian mom made healthy comfort food.

My dad grew up eating some rather horrid Scottish fare; he LOVED ITALIAN Cuisine!

Italians are all about feeding people, no one left our house hungry ever.

Will post some recipes soon, am on a plane, then landing ito create an elegant 30 person cocktail party for my clients.

David,

After seeing your list of words here, I was reminded of a word that came up the other night, as our family was celebrating a birthday dinner with our daughter, Christie, and her husband.  It was his birthday, and his nother, a Mexican/American sweet lady was also with us.  She was talking about some annoying neighbors who had moved into her neighborhood, referring to them as 'pendejo-s,' (I'm not sure of the spelling)  So, I asked her what she had said, as I didn't understand right away, although I could kinda' guess her meaning by her disgusted expression.  She said, "Pendejo!"  According to her, it means "a-hole."  I had to laugh a little at her, and agree that those types were generally around most everywhere.  She giggled and agreed.

You learn something every day, don't you?  HA!

David,

Could you please keep us updated on where Steve is. Last I heard he was back a UTSW.

An update on your list. I found this on Merriam-Webster.com Dictionary

LGBTQIA

lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (one's sexual or gender identity), intersex, and asexual/aromantic/agender.

So queer is now being used again.

Yesterday i heard AP (Associated Press) has told media to stop using Latina or Latino and instead use Latinx.  Over 75% of the Latina/Lation do not want LatinX to be used. (from Chair emeritus of SMU Journalism Dept)

Martha and I visited Steve yesterday. He was asleep when we arrived. A nurse's aide was parked in his room, seemingly to keep an eye on him. She woke him up and we basically said hello and good-bye. We spoke to the duty nurse, but she was naturally night-lipped because of HIPAA. She did indicate that he was aggravated on his first day, but that he has calmed down. I addressed a particular medical issue, and all she would say is that it is getting better.

Patti said, "Men are such lovely simple counterparts....just give 'em food and sex and they are HAPPY! Will post a recipe and see how it goes over."

David responds, "Uhh, I look forward to receiving the  recipe, but what about the sex part? I want to be happy!!"

I am also half Italian (Sicilian, really) and have Italian citizenship and an Italian passport.

I mailed this yesterday. Will keep my eye open for black sedans with darkened windows.

Dr. Jill Biden

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Washington, D.C. 20500

I realize that Jill Biden will never see this letter. I also realize that my suggestion is not in the financial interest of whomever is reading it. So be it.

If I were Jill Biden, I would pull President Biden out of the presidential race.

First, he has a good chance of experiencing the ignominy of losing as an incumbent. According to the CNN poll, he is tied with Trump nationally in the popular vote, which suggests a loss in the Electoral College.

Second, he could win, but the stress of the job could kill him while in office, making the very unpopular and incompetent Kamala Harris president.

Third, he could win, but the rate of his obvious deterioration will increase, and that deterioration will be the headline in the historical representation of his presidency.

Fourth, his obvious decline will become more frequently reported by the media. It could cause triggering of the 25th Amendment, and he would be the only president to be removed by use of that Amendment.

If President Biden pulls out, he’ll a hero for putting his country before himself. History will be kind to him. He can rightly claim, in recalling JFK, that he is “passing the torch to a new generation.” He can write his memoir and live in luxury the rest of his life as a respected elder statesman. New York Governor Hochul, Michigan Governor Whitmer, and California Governor Newsom will be happy to jump into the fray, and they would have a good chance against the Republicans.

Honestly, no one thinks President Biden will be able to maintain his already-weak physical and mental condition for the next 5 1/2 years.

To be brutally candid, it is an act of selfishness for President Biden to stay in the race, and it is irresponsible to encourage someone at his age and in his condition to run for president.

Respectfully,

David M. Cordell

David,

As many of us ARE concerned about Joe, there are not many that are willing to challenge him out there at this time. Newsom has his hands full with wildfires, floods , mudslides, and the homeless on the streets .  Whitmer has already expressed she is totally devoted to Michigan's well being right now and my other favorite is Gov Polis of Colorado , who also has side stepped the offer to jump into the game..... for now... Which is all too bad cuz they would all  be good , in my opinion... ofcourse. I like all three alot.  I remember liking Cory Booker,  too.

You do have Robert F Kennedy, who I thought was running against Joe but now heard  he was going to run as an independent. (?)

On a side note  :YEAH COLORADO:  !!!!!!

"Colorado Lawsuit Seeks to Keep Trump Off Ballots Under 14th Amendment
The amendment says anyone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the Constitution after taking an oath to defend it is ineligible to hold office, and a long-shot effort to employ it is growing."

Apparently , not just lurking here , right now.. wink

While you are at it ,write a letter to Melania ,as well. Please.

You re forgetting the main, and only reason Joe Biden ran a united front to be President in 2020.   To beat and eliminate Donald Trump.

Don't write Jill Biden.   Write Donald Trump.

A free for all open candidacy in a quick amount of time sans both those guys would not stop all the enmities here in the country, but at least we would have some fresh mud slinging.

09/11/23 07:00 PM #28104

Yes! Lowell and be hold ...We want fresh mud to sling . And term limits .

If wish  you a lady for a next President , Whitmer is your lady .   She has held her own witts/ BALLS  about her. She  cares about her constituents as the  Michigan Governor, which is still and always her priority ; even with the radicals plotting to kidnap her and kill her.

She gets my trophy.

WHEN JO was looking for a vice president candidiate , he also interviewed Whitmer,  she passed .. SHE had a sworn  duty to serve Michigan.

hey are you still in Costa Rica ?
One of the best pranks I ever pulled was on your dad around the 4 th of July.
And the best prank ever pulled on me was by YOU.  What you did to my baseball uniform just hours before a game.  Lol
How is your sister doing ?

Lowell -- I loved O Brother where Art Thou. Off-beat fun. We have the DVD.

Jan, you Dems will have to write Melania on your own.

Trump's many shortcomings, like some of Biden's, are deeply ingrained. But Biden's mental (in)capacity is clear and getting worse by the day. Did you see the video from today? Most feeble president in our lifetime, and that include when Ike was laid up with a heart attack.

Again, I believe that Biden will not be the nominee.

As much as I think Trump is being railroaded, part of me wants the Dems to get their way -- to knock him out of the primaries. I want Biden to be the Dem nominee and anyone but Trump to be the Republican nominee.

Eggs in Purgatory-

The dish originated along the Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Capri coastline.

Served for afternoon meal in ITALY, Would be perfect for brunch IN STATES.

1/2 large onion minced

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

2 large cloves garlic, thinly sliced

3 anchovy fillets, minced (optional)

3 tablespoon Harissa sauce (order from Amazon or go to Central Market)

Pinch of red-pepper flakes, more to taste and for serving. Be careful, just a sprinkle.

1 (28-ounce) can fire roasted tomatoes

½ teaspoon fine sea salt, more to taste (Anchovies will make dish salty)

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 large sprig fresh basil

Pinch of Italian seasoning

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan, or more for serving

6 - 8 eggs

Either 2 steamed tender cauliflower cut steak size o4 cooked potatoes, sliced. I like cauliflower…my clients like taters.

Sliced crusty bread non gluten baguette for serving

Small handful chopped basil, cilantro, or parsley for garnish

*HARISSA~

There is mild and spicy choice. Love the spicy!

Mina Harissa Mild, Moroccan Red Pepper Sauce, 10 Oz (Pack of 2)

Directions:

Sauté  onion until translucent, then add garlic over Medium heat for 2-3 minutes

Take skillet off heat. Add cooked cauliflower steaks or potatoes to top of onions and garlic

Mortar anchovy filets

Mix anchovies into Fire Roasted tomatoes

Add Harissa…Harissa will intensify spicy factor when cooked…no more than 3 Tbsp until you have made a couple of times; then can judge correctly on taste you want achieved.

Add chopped basil or cilantro,

Salt and peppers to taste.

Pour tomato/Harissa mixture into skillet over cauliflower or potatoes

Warm mixture

Crack eggs over top of the whole shebang, and cover skillet with lid.

Cook 5 minutes, then test an egg yolk for desired doneness, personal taste.

Garnish with Parmesan, parsley, more basil, or cilantro.

Serve with crusty non gluten bread or no bread at all.

Also nice to decorate dish with sliced avocados, and deseeded, de-pithed jalapeños.

The eggs come out beautifully poached and silky.

Everyone has heard or read about the most juicy news in Dallas across Texas...Yes, the Como Motel has been sold to the Pappas Restaurant family.

We stayed a few days at the Como when mom and dad were looking for their new home in Richardson in 1960.  I remember swimming in the pool...

I remember in the back of my big fat head a story I heard.   When they were trying to get a nice hotel or motel on US 75 N coming out of Dallas, a developer who was working on getting the Hilton at Mockingbird built wanted assurance that there were going to be no other hotels or motels on Central N. to Richardson City limits.  Edit:  Tycher Properties was the developer....1967.

I believe they were granted that zoning request.   Hence, the Como, as well as the Continental Inn were fairly successful far out of downtown hotels/motels where visitors could stay.

I think the zoning rule lasted 10-20 years and would have been in the early mid 60's.   That's when the Hilton was built there on Mockingbird with the fancy Polynesian (Trader Vic's) restaurant upstairs.   I ate there once.

I see it's now called The Highland...still a Hilton...

I officed with my dad at 6116 N Central, (The Cowboys Bldg...now SMU) from 72 to 78.   He stayed there longer.   My sister turned 21 and the office was too small, so I opened up in Houston.

Some of the places frequented in those days...Playboy Club, Rosies, Up your Alley, Leatherballs Saloon, The Grape, Columbo's Pizza, of course The Egyptian Room, Mr. Chicken, Goff's, The Great Outdoors, BP 2 (Black Eyed Pea #2,) Vehon's, The Cave, Greenville Bar and Grill, TGIFridays, Daddy's Money, The Railhead, Popsicle Toes (only once,) Cedar Pub (the one on Yale? name right?)  The small 9 hole golf course at The Village Apts.

I am trying to remember what kind of wretched beer and liquor I drank in those days.   Before 1978.  Dewars and possibly Passport Scotch.   Beer....hmm...I can't remember having a "taste" for any special beers back then.   I think they still had schlitz.   Pretty sure it was not Miller Lite...so Bud?  surely not Lone Star...it was Before shiner bock, or at least the main effort to get Bock out...Tequila in those days was nasty.   Rum had made me sick.   Vodka tonic was a good choice...but nothing fancy.

What a change in my culture moving to Houston.   That's another story... I really refined my achoholism here.
