Message Forum

Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Patti K,

Hey, girl!! I remember you well from RJHS as well as RHS (you were ALWAYS taller than I also). I'm the same way - I would NEVER talk about politics or spirituality...............tee hee...........................GREAT to hear from you!

Patti, I assume that Jo is Joe Biden, right?  Personal chef? Please explain.

Tommy, Nikki Haley is the only female candidate for the Republican nomination, and I like her.

Lowell, I'm not sure when Will Rogers said this: "I'm not a member of an organized political party. I'm a Democrat."

Nancy Pelosi announced that she will run again for the House. She will be 84 if, I mean when, she is elected. Sen Diane Feinstein is 90. Sen Chuck Grassley is 89. Sen Mitch McConnell is 81. Donald Trump will be 78 on election day -- 82 at the end of his term. Note, though, that age isn't nearly as big an issue for individual politicians whose  jobs are deliberative and group-oriented than for a president, who may have to make big decisions.

These very old people are selfish. They are saying, "I am so wonderful that I am superior to a whole generation of people who might want my job." Yes, they would argue that the people could elect someone else, but political parties are disinclined to dump an incumbent. Incumbency is too powerful, and most politicians are addicted to the power.

The only way to eliminate this scourge is a term limits amendment, and the only way to get one is to exempt current office holders, which is what they did with the presidential term limits amendment.

Tommy:  I do remember our birthdays and I do remember first grade.  You have a good memory and thanks for your comments.

I also like Nicky Haley.  My daughter follows politices very closely and she told me about Nicky Haley over 10 years ago and has been following her ever since.  She is very impressive and her story is amazing.

One thought about the Paxton trial.  In a criminal trial the defendent is wanted to be in the court to help his attorney in his defense and if a defendent is determined to not be competent to assist in his defense then the trial is postponed.  Paxton is so cockey that in the trial of his political life he decided to not show up and help in his defence.

Wayne, watching the proceedings on C span, I understand his decision to not be there.   The process is as boring as any I have ever seen.

I like Rusty Hardin the best though.   I am guessing he and Buzzbee are billing at least 1500 an hour.

Perhaps Paxton is afraid that if he does attend, it might extend his billables a few moments and at those rates his comments might be a bit expensive.

I don't know where we are there though.   Has the prosecution completed their case?

Tommy,

You say I'm boneheaded and you probably voted for Biden. Hope this "diatribe" is short enough for you, cousin. As I've often said & thought, trouble just follows you around these days; how does that feel?

Your honor, I rest my case.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Good Sunday morning to you!

Overslept this morning because I was so tired last night, so failed to make it to church today.

I caught Biden's address in Vietnam, during their evening broadcast, and was embarrassed for the American people to hear what that bumbling, senile fool said on that broadcast!

Did any of you witness that fiasco?

If we elect that feeble, idiotic old guy to be our president ONE MORE TERM, we are doomed!

The man was never anything other than a "yes" vote for the Democrats for 40-50 years, and he will go down in history, mark my words, as one of the Top Three Worst American Presidents endured by our country.

I'm sure you will be hearing many reportings today of the unbelievable words uttered by that man on the world's stage.  I can't believe his handlers allowed him to give that performance, knowing that his main thought during that time period, was "I'm ready to go to bed now."  They should have allowed him to trundle off to his bunk, post haste.

I'm remembering Obama's words right now about how we should never underestimate Biden's ability to eff things up!

Saw a GREAT bumper sticker today on the way home from church:

MAKE LYING WRONG AGAIN

In conclusion, YEE HAW!!!!!

Jim Bedwell

Lady Lanajuju,

I'm just glad Pee Wee Herman is not still around to see our country continue to fall apart thanks to the Dems.

Yes, speaking of Obama. He's now in his 3rd term obviously (living in Washington mostly, not Chicago, Hawaii or Martha's Vineyard currently, per FNC (where else?)). I THANK GOD Michelle Obama is not like Hillary Clinton since otherwise we'd had FIVE terms of that Hawaiian fool.

And you should feel PERPETUALLY guilty for having slept through church today. I haven't done that in over a week.

Chief Whatever

To all my friends of The Longhorn Nation a big congratulations for your win at Alabama.

09/10/23 12:27 PM #28075

Jim Bedwell

Ron,

Even tho I did graduate from UT-Austin in 1974 (a year late - oh, the shame.....:), I don't follow college sports at all. For several years now I haven't known any of the Longhorn players or coaches nor do I watch college football at all!

See you in Asheville sometime (or here in Knoxville anytime). I noticed that the Banditos are playing at the Grey Eagle on September 27. Should we connect in the flesh that day? Hope so.

This church buddy of mine just turned me on to this group. Check out, starting about 40 seconds in, how these guys start channelling CS&N. ENJOY!

BY THE WAY, the guy on our far left must have a FIVE octave range. He's the bass singer but he can also sing very high notes very professionally!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! Check out the other Youtubes for these guys and you will be amazed at the versatility in this bunch. Also the 2 guys who are the sopranos are the second guy from the left and the second guy from the right, the bearded latter of which ALSO has a concert-quality baritone opera voice!!! WOW!!

And another new musical act (for me) from the same church brother:

The entertaining guitar player also plays accordion on the Youtube video of "Tangled Up" (that one is 7.51 minutes long). I like the latino & gypsy kinda stuff these folks play plus I'm always a sucker for a female voice and any slide instrument.

I saw this guy, Lipbone Redding, open for John Mayall some years ago. I LOVE his "trumpet". Don't miss the "phone call" in the middle of the song!!!!

Jerry May

Ron,

Quinn Ewers looked "cool as a cucumber" throwing for nearly 350 yards! He reminded me of "Broadway Joe" (Namath) with that wide stance, or a right-handed Kenny Stabler! Or a blend of the two!

Ironically, either way they would've been playing their own team; in the Tide!

But the Horns' defense also showed what they are capable of and outlasted them when it was critical!

It was sweet revenge for last years' debacle with Alabama and the officials stealing that one! (fifteen penalties on Bama, and could have been 25!)

They played like they belong in the SEC, and snapped a home game winning streak dating back 4-5 years, when  a Joe Burrows lead LSU team beat them!

And even though Texas and OU are bailing to the SEC next year, the Big XII will welcome the likes of Colorado...... coached by Deion Sanders! His son Shaddeur has 900 yards passing in two games!

Interesting future ahead in College Football!~

Tommy,

Why don't we 2 agree to just not ever communicate on this forum anymore? Plus never refer to one another here, as I never refer to another person who never posts here anymore. I don't get tired of, in fact I enjoy seeing you and Steve go at it since you're self-confessing good friends. Also I do love doing the same with Steve. But I'm pretty sure nobody else enjoys your interactions with me; I know I don't. And unless you change considerably, as I have from youth (THANK YOU, JESUS & HOLY SPIRIT), I can't see how we could ever be friendly acquaintances again (as we were at RHS), much less friends. So why don't we just agree to those 2 things, and be done with it. Then David can continue to stay uninvolved in our oil-and-water relationship. How bout it?

Your half 7th cousin, once removed,

Jim

Jim B,

Tommy didn't say you were a bonehead. He said your diatribe was boneheaded.

Feel better now??

That said, our statements are a part of who we are. We are the sum of our parts, and it is not nice to criticize a classmate's parts.

Note: everyone can decide whether or not to post, lurk, or a combination thereof, but I don't appreciate your recommending that someone else refrain.

09/10/23 02:55 PM #28082

Jim Bedwell

David,

Right. I knew that. But my offer is still out there, Tommy. How bout it? It'll be our little game of chicken to see who breaks first.................

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Hey Bedwell!  (Bedwetter?-- Just joshing 'ya!)

Don't try to tempt Tommy with anything!  Just play by the rules, here, or you may get "offed!" (and deservedly so(!) you little twerp hillbilly--living up in them thar' hills!)

Tommy seems to be "on-the-lam" from past experiences, so don't mess with him while he is vulnerable.

He also enjoys lurking on this forum, just posting his daily little "word puzzle-square inch" to allow us to see that he was here for a twinkling.  (kind of like a visit from Santa Claus whilst we slept...)

Did you hear, Sir Bedwell, that it is now incorrect to use the word "waitress," or "man-made"?

You were speaking of bumper stickers, well I think we need a bumper sticker for the 'woke' or 'politically correct' word police.  These people don't have enough to do in their lives.  Maybe they should find extra employment with one of those thousands of NEW jobs that Biden boasts of creating for our citizens, recently!  Or how about walking around here, there and everywhere with a can of neutral-colored paint, and a wide paint brush, to cover over some of the ugly grafftti that teens and druggies paint on our walls and train cars!  Especially those garish, stupid, Chinese-lookin characters or backwards-facing alphabet letters that look like Russian-type graphics!  Tourists who visit this country must think that our youngsters can't write or spell properly!  And that American, negligent parents don't know where their kids are at midnight hours.

Patti, I was going to say the same thing, your Mom was so nice to me . Funny we remember such things...and first impressions that linger. That should make you feel happy.

Jerry,

Yes indeed, College football will be very fun to watch this year.

Jim,

Don't fret over graduating a year behind. I kept going back to school for decades. I was in college in the 60's, 70's, 80's 90's and early 2000. 9/11 happened and I ended up withdrawing from school to concentrate with my full attention to guide my company through some uncertain times ahead. I ended up never going back. Went though my 2nd divorce and sold my company by 2007. Ended up deciding to retire.

Janalu,

I started a list of terms that are no longer appropriate in proper company for various reasons. Some never were! This list includes slurs, sexism/gender references, racism, ethnic appropriation, old and New Testament references, etc. This list is not exhaustive, of course. If you would like to add to the list, feel free to post or email your offerings.

Oh, something just occurred to me. If an 18-year old biological male decides that he is really a she, does he/she have to register for Selective Service?
