Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

A man boarded an airplane and took his seat. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw the most beautiful woman boarding the plane. He soon realized She was heading straight towards his seat. As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his:

Eager to strike up a conversation he blurted out. "Business trip or pleasure?"

She turned, smiled and said. "Business. I’m going to the Annual Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in Boston."

He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen Sitting next to him and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs!

Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked. “What’s your Business at this convention?"

“Lecturer." She responded. "I use information that I have learned from my Personal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality."

“Really?” He said. “And what kind of myths are there?”

“Well.” She explained. “One popular myth is that African-American men are The most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is That Frenchmen are the best lovers, when actually it is men of Mexican Descent who are the best. I have also discovered that the lover with Absolutely the best stamina is the Southern Redneck."

Suddenly the woman became a little uncomfortable and blushed.. "I’m Sorry." She said, “I shouldn't really be discussing all of this with you. I don’t even know your name."

"Tonto." The man said. "Tonto Gonzales, but my friends call me Bubba." ..........

I think this graph is interesting. If you watch TV, based on commercials you'd think that 50+% of Americans are black and more than that are in biracial relationship. Nothing is wrong with being black or being in a biracial relationship, of course, but I think TV and social media give a warped view of what actually exists.

David,

I think depending upon where you live you will see a different demographic.  Some parts of the US the black population is much higher.  The deep South for example.  Parts of California have a higher Asian population.  East Richardson has a higher Asian business sector and possibly a higher Asian population there as well.

I see mainly commericals for expensive prescription drugs for skin problems, for lawyers touting big lawsuit wins for traffic accidents and high calorie fast food, that quite frankly, aint good for anyone!

David,

I heard from a friend that Chuckie Schumer told Manchin, directly and demonstratively, "You will not form a third party choice!"...... to which Manchin just smirked.

I dare Manchin to do it!

But I don't think he has the guts.

Just an interesting tidbit of news, methinks.......

I was just watching an old "77 Sunser Strip".  They had 2 math problems. One can be solved and one cannot.

1: What is the shortest distance between 2 points?

2: What is the greatest distance between 2 pointa?

Tommy,

The answer to question 1 is the straight line between the 2 points. The answer to rhe aecond is it cannot be solved.

Kurt, Do you mean "The Worlds Greatest Generation"?  I think that era produced some of the finest, toughest Americans ever!  And many of our parents were part of that era!

Changing the subject, I have recently.....had Covid 19. This was/is some nasty crap! Though I've tested negative for 3 weeks, the residual effects are still "hanging around" (occasional cough and persistent fatigue)

At first I thought I had a very bad sinus infection, but the cough was so bad and the fatigue worse......plus the lack of taste; I told Ellen I wanted to be tested. Positive! All I can say is......if these injections are supposed to lessen the effects, I'd hate to see a full case of it! I guess also....at our age the virus is "harder hitting"!

Lowell,

This first queston can have an answer.  The second does not because a curve can be unmeasurable and close to infinity.  One can be solved and the other cannot..  Tommy was close but no banana

Lowell.

I have another one.

Stand an mathematician and an engineer against the wall of a room facing the door.  Tell them to leave the room with the provision with each move they can go 1/2 the distance from where they are standing to the door. Which one will get out the door?

Answer.  the engineer will make 4 or 5 moves and say I am close enough and leave.  The mathematician will always be able to divide the distance no matter how short it is.

Tommy,

I was giving a genral principal and you want to use a specific case.  Can you you give me the value of infinity? How do you solve the equation for the value of infinity?

07/19/23 09:42 AM #27824

Jan Alexander

Wayne,  I was going to say the answer to both questions was Infinity. Not sure if it was right. .

Here is a good documentary , I mentioned a while back . It was really good , on Netflix

Jan,

The answer to the longest distance is it cannot be solved because the distance can be infinity which cannot be determined or solved.  How many stars is a finiabte nubber but is so large and we have no way to count all of the stars so we say it is infinante.

I keep thinking about the surest sign I'm actually getting old:  everyone near my age looks really, really old.  Of course, since I don't feel ancient, I forget that I am that age, too.

Along that line -- it seems like in our old age, we all could make the effort to show a little more graciousness to our peers.  Those of us who are male are getting very close to the age where half of our age-group peers are dead; the women aren't too far behind.

One of the things I don't like about the current practice of law is how in the past few years, particualarly since COVID disrupted the system, the really young lawyers have gotten nasty and personally, unnecessarily unpleasant -- it seems totally unprofessional to me. I, along with several other older lawyers I know, attribute it to them not having the experience of going to court and being humilliated in person as baby lawyers.  I wonder if the same thing is happening to the general population as well as the participants here.

Bob,

Interesting post!  I think you are correct that as we all age, we tend to sometimes feel a litle cranky about what we see going on around us, in the general population, and we tend to think that, "They should know better than to do that!"  But we need to temper ourselves and just laugh it off, knowing that those foolish ones will learn in time, as they get corrected, in one way or another.  Also, as you say, the young attorneys just beginning their professions, tend to be rather arrogant and fresh out of law school full of ideologies they think are great to pursue, until they learn how their thoughts and tactics toward others are received in the real world.  They learn pretty darn fast, usually.

I guess it is not right for me to ask about how you viewed yesterday's hearings from the whistleblowers on this particular forum, but I would love to hear your viewpoint, if you don't mind.  I thought it was all amazingly wonderful to finally hear, for the record.

What did you think of that Congressman named Goldman, from New York?  Talk about arrogant and  exceedingly smug....!!   At least that is how he appeared to me.

Bob, Janalu

I never amazes me how stupid some young people and how sosial media, Tic tok does not help. Foe a long time there has been a TicToc challenge to steal Kia and Hunday cars because they are easy to hot wire.  The car companies have come up with a software patch to make it harder,  There has been a large number of car thefts in Plano this year.  Last week Plano police arrested a 14 yr old boy tryiny to steel his 38th car.

Janalu,
I think I remember that our history books said that Cornwallis' band played "The World Turned Upside Down" at Yorktown as he surrendered to Washington. (Tommy, I'm perfectly aware that the substantiation from historical sources is weak and that Washington owned slaves and slavery is bad so you don't need to point either of those things out.)

That's about how I felt about senior government investigators testifying under oath that our current President took bribes from foreign countries and the Justice Department is actively covering it up.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Bob,

Thanks for your assessment.   The talking heads on TV are now saying this scandal is worse than the Watergate scandal.  I don't see how this man can be president again.  It's unbelievable to me that he is continuing to run, and that the Democrats, at least at this moment, are pretending that all is well.  And our so-called Justice Dept. is corrupt as heck, along with Merrick Garland!  No wonder the Chinese are encroaching upon us.  To them we appear to be rudderless and afloat at sea.

TT:  Concerning your earlier plea for help in tracking down Steve and your listing of his kinfolk - Corky Campisi is uncle or cousin to Steve's deceased exwife Denise Campisi Keene.  Could be an important clarification for one or more parties.
