Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Steve,

I can remember a friend who brought me to a gym he belonged to in N Dallas. The gym was sizable because it had racquetball courts.

I could hear the ball just exploding off the walls, and thought someone was hitting the "hell" out of the ball!
My friend, without even seeing who it was said: "It's probably Dave Manders. The word around is he's one of the best in Dallas."

Without hesitation, I said "Let's go see for a minute, before we work out."
Sure enough it was indeed Dave Manders! The most impressive thing was not just the velocity. It was how quick this 6'2 250-260lb man was moving around that court! Holy Cow!!

And seems smallish compared to the 300-320 pounders today, but to play racquet ball at that level was very

impressive!

Steve, as you may or may not know, I worked at the Holiday Inn C. (I think our shifts didn't align or you were there at a different time period)

It was a thrill to meet some of the people I "roomed" as a bellman!

When Coach Lombardi took over the then.....Redskins (now Commanders) he and the entire team stayed there.

I roomed Marie and Coach Vince (can remember those wide teeth!) He was not a thing like one would think. Very nice....and very gentlemanly with her. When it came time for the "tip" he said, "Thank you young man" as he handed over the "better than average" amount. Marie cleared her throat (as she had not missed a thing)

He glanced at her, as she nodded towards me.

His words were: "Here, let me give you a little supplement."  ( now a sizeable amount!) I thanked them both and said " Good luck Sunday"  He winked and nodded.
(I think the Cowboys won!)

Sadly I believe it was his last game, because he lost his battle with colon cancer the following year~j

Jerry, one of my favorite football comments was about Eugene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb, defensive tackle, primarily of the Baltimore Colts.  About Big Daddy, it was said that at the snap of the ball, he would grab all four backs and let go of the ones who didn't have the ball.

Big Daddy never knew his father. His mother was stabbed to death. And he died of a heroin overdose at age 32.

Chief Pay It Forward Forever,

You posted:

Don't encourage me!!! hahahahaha!!!

Yes, Chief Antagonizer

Lowell,

I can ALMOST recognize the Cowboys new kicker - looks REALLY familiar. But PLEASE help me out - who is that?

David C,

When boxer Sonny Liston was born is anybody's guess - he didn't know his birthdate. Strangely enough, he died alone and nobody is sure exactly when he died either.

Chief Pay It Forward Forever,

I did well in arithmetic in school.

So by your statements, if I'm reading them correctly and you reported them accurately,

then you paid:

I. 1982-96:

2000 a month - 24,000 a year

24000 X 14 years = 336,000 total

II. 2003-15:

4000 a month - 48,000 a year

48000 X 12 years = 576,000 total

III. Overall

336,000 + 576,000 = 912,000 overall total

WOW!! THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE ALL YOUR LISTED ADD-ONS EITHER!!!!!

I just wonder how you could afford an alcohol problem!!!

Finally, you stated:

"When you bring up stuff to me like that, it makes me wish you had moved to Afghanistan to the tribal areas that have no internet."

I can think of TONS of OTHER reasons why you would like for me to have moved to Afghanistan!! hahahahahaha!!!!!!

Jerry,

I remember you saying you worked there.  I think you must have worked there after me or during the time I was pretending to go to class in Austin at U.T.

I have to tell you something.  At an early age I was diagnosed with OFS.  It subsided for a while while I made money and was a Husband and Father.  However, I was having some trouble in performing business duties lately and got checked out.  The OFS has returned with a vengeance.  I guess it has been in a state of dormancy, but now it is starting to dominate my waking hours.  I had to spend nearly $15,000 on special equipment to try and deal with the issues.  Think of me on days when there are red flag warnings.

Steve,

What is OFS? All I can find is Ovarian Function Suppression. I'm gonna take a wild guess that that's not it.

Law professor, Jonathan Turley, said, "Biden's statement that he had no regrets about recent events revealing the mishandling of classifled documents, was the most daft statement he could have made."

Daft.

Yep!

That's our Commander and Chief!

Sleep well tonight, if you're able.

Janalu,

Did you see the slobering love fest between Biden and Harris? I thought he was going to go over to smell her hair. And Biden declared Republicans to be fiscally demented. The words pot and kettle come to mind. (I won't use the whole phrase because it is clearly racist.)

Do you think Dem operatives are trying to undermine him, knowing that the Republicans can block most of the stuff that they and he would support. That is, they know he isn't fit to serve another term, which he would presumably finish at age 86.

Why can't these people get off the stage and make way for the younger generation -- people in their 60s??

The FBI has found more "classified" documents in Bidens Delaware home.  At least one dates back to when he was in the Senate.  Biden has said he knows how to handle classified document

David,

It's beginning to look like the Dems are possibly trying to get rid of Biden by foisting the document findings fiasco on him with ever increasing frequency and heave-ho pushes.  Usually they try to stop the obvious truth with some kind of diversionary tactic, but this time, it's looking like they are allowing the story to continue to fester, so to speak.

They won't step aside for other younger folks to step up, because they can't stand relinquishing their dictatorial power of the last two years.  The power is addictive and allows for the heady experience that they love!  Also, they think that the Republican platform is extremely bad for the country, as well as lacking anything meritorious for progress.  They have always thought of us as ignorant farm hands, having no elitist education equal to theirs.  And they think conservatism holds on to ideas that limit our people from seeking progressive goals.  They want to ignore the Founders dreams of what this country could become; those stuffy, old-fashioned ideas based on Christian ethics.

I hear that Gov. Hairgel from CA is hoping to see Biden put out to pasture soon, so he can charm our public with his successful spiel.  Now he's a real winner, eh?

David, funny post on "Big Daddy" (I think I read something about that)

I can remember the media criticizing Sonny Jurgenson one time when he grew his "paunch" in the middle (in his later years) The question was something along the lines of: "Sonny, are you in shape for the season?" (this while gazing at his mid-section) Clearly irritated, his words were: "Well I don't throw the ball with my belly!"

Once I did some business with Herb Scott (#68)All-Pro guard of the Cowboys. It was just before the weekend they were to play the mighty NY Giants....led by Lawrence Taylor. I said, "what's your game plan" "For me its don't let 56 get to the quarterback!"

I read a book about Landry and his long memory. He was playing for New York (before coaching there) and their game was against Pittsburgh, who had a smallish but hard-nose tackle named Ernie Stautner (later united with Tom to coach defense)

Apparently, Stautner broke Landrys nose during that contest.

Now years later, when they were on the practice field behind the old Days Inn off LBJ, Coach Landry was staring......even glaring at Ernie the whole practice! When practice was over, Stautner ran over to him.....clearly

uneasy about it, Stautner said: "Coach is there something wrong? You've been staring at me through all of practice." With arms folded, Landry said, "Ernie I remember that time you broke my nose!" (I guess he was letting him know, " dont mess up!") Ha!

Vice President Harris at a pro-choice event quoted the Declaration of Independence as promoting the rights of "liberty and the pursuit of happiness", omitting the word that comes before liberty in that passage -- life.

These PRO abortion people like to think of the developing BLOB of cells in a woman's uterus as a nothingburger, which is a despised inconvenience to the woman.  But they like to omit the fact that each creation developing, is a beginning human with a soul given it by God, and when this beginning God-blessed creation is sucked to pieces in a clinic of illrepute, or even. possibly, in a foul setting of someone's shack, the tiny God-blessed body's soul transports immediately to Heaven to be forever loved and cherished in that Heaven with God.  Thank goodness for love and merciful rescue.

The evilness of abortion will/does have consequences, most definitely.

Please excuse the frankness of this post.  I realize it is distasteful and very sad.

Janalu,

Accirding to the pro-abortion group womens helthcare depends on abortions.  Also they act as though aportion is the only way a woman has control of her "reproductive rights".

They ignore all of the choices a woman has:

1: when and where and who to have sex (not including rape)

2: use of condoms

3: use of birth control pills

4: morning after pill

5: IUD

6: surgical procedures.

All take a back seat to abrotions.

True, Wayne.

Sex outside of marriage is considered recreation nowadays, and Christian teachings are considered old- fashioned or irrelevant to many American citizens.  The morals most Americans used to have are now faded, and our society is suffering because of our sinfulness, as predicted and seen in other failed societies.

Jana/Wayne:

What I don't understand with their logic is that Republicans are denying health care because they are denying abortions. The only time this (in my mind) would be health care is if the woman's life were in danger by completing the birth. Health Care is 99.9% and abortion is less than 1%.

One thing that I don't understand about Joe Biden is that he's supposedly a strong Catholic. Abortion is diametrically opposed to the Catholic stance (and basically it should be the Christian stance) on abortion. These days, most of the time, abortion is used as a convenience item only, not as a health care or life-saving option.. (IMHO)
