Vincent Ray Young was born on Nov 14, 1951, in Richmond Ca. to Margaret J. and Raymond E. Young.
Vince spent 50 years in The Corrugated Box industry, starting as a press operator for St Regis in the 70’s. Then he worked his way up to middle management. In 1982 he transitioned to St Joe Box Co., working in management, and being responsible for overseeing production. He retired in April 2019 after 37 years of service.
Vince was a homebody. He enjoyed his hobbies of tinkering around the house, listening to classic rock, and spending time with his fur babies Smokey and Koda, who preceded him in death. He also enjoyed spending time working on cars with his father and brother, those are the times he cherished most.
He enjoyed cooking out and being with friends and family. He loved his daughter and bonus daughters with all his heart. He was a man of few words but his actions and love spoke volumes. He was a wonderful husband and provider. He worked hard to make sure that his family never went without. He and his wife Cheryl enjoyed doing everything & sometimes nothing together. Their special times were spent on the beaches of Galveston, just walking on the boardwalk, holding hands, and feeling the soft breeze of the coastal air as it filled their lungs. This was their little slice of heaven on earth.
Vince was not raised in the church, and for many years didn’t understand why things happen as they do. Why loved ones are taken too soon, and why, evil is allowed to exist in this world? But on September 15, 2024 - Vince allowed his wife to lead him to Jesus Christ. Vince accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and gives all praise and glory to God our Father for his salvation, and for making His presence known and felt. They said a simple prayer as Vince gave his heart to Christ. Vince slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 29, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children.
To say Vince will be missed by his family is an understatement. He and his wife were always together, and learning to navigate life without him will be difficult, but the memories they made will sustain us until they are reunited in heaven. His wife Cheryl Said “I love you, my darling husband. Until we meet again, save me a place at the Dinner table.”
Vince is preceded in death by his brother Blaine, and his parents Margret & Raymond Young. His maternal grandparents, Willard & Thelma Smithart. His paternal grandmother, Helen Parks Young, and his bonus daughter Sandi L Cobb.
Vince is survived by his loving wife of 31 years 11 months and 6 days Cheryl Young. His daughter Lyndsey Brantley, and husband Patrick. Bonus daughter Chasity Stanfield and partner Steven Payne, granddaughters Maddisson Cobb, Iris, Ella, and Lila Brantley, and several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at Harvest Church, 124 W Davis St. | Mesquite TX, 75149. In Lieu of flowers - monetary donations accepted to the family.

Vince and I had drafting/mechanical drawing together in 9th grade at RJHS. I can still remember his laugh when he and Adrian Simms would tease each other as they were neighbors. He was fun to be around. Always the optimist.
