Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Janalu,

If you come up for the game on Sat. If you are comming up in friday let me know what part of town you will be staying and I can tell you the best way to get to the fair on the train.

You will not want to miss the free flying bird show.  Great fun to see the birds flying and not doing circus tricks.

Thanks Wayne,

You are very helpful, but if we come, it probably won't be until the 14th or 15th.

What is the flying bird show?

Is that a show near the livestock buildings?

Is it an exhibit that people can access easily without a reservation ticket?

Right now, we are just tossing around ideas, and may meet up with my brother and sister-in-law in McKinney.  I'll have to arrange for my son to come stay in our house to stay with our cats.  I'll let you know if I need certain directions, otherwise I'll just let me brother figure out the particulars.

YOu are so sweet and thoughtful in your assistance!  Thanks!

Tommy,

I first wrote about the screech owl in our neighborhood when you wrote on this forum about your whip-poor-will story at the two story house you owned in Westlake.  Sounds like a fabulous house!

If you look back a page or two on this forum, you will see what I said.

I remember your story of your squirrel, Skippy!  I enjoyed hearing it again, and I can imagine that your Band-Aid episode is true.  We bought a lot of Band-Aids too, from Sun Rexall, as well as a lot of school supplies each year.  My Dad knew the man who owned the store, as they were directors at Citizens State Bank, just east of Central Expressway.  The two of them came from very different backgrounds, but became friends, along with many other fine people who worked in that bank.  They were all friends of our family, over many, many years.

Have any of you forum posters heard of the lady Biden says he wants to have running our treasury dept.?

Her name is Saule Omarova----I think that is correct.

She got a degree from a Moscow University, and now she wants to nationalize our banking system!

Why would Biden think she is the best person to promote for our country?  Puzzling, among many other expletives....!

But I'll now go back to trying to decide what Christmas gifts to order early, since I hear that there will be massive shipping problems in the next few months.  Got to order early this year!

I get a kick out of buying gifts!   So much fun for me!

Janalu,

Re: your post 23889 concerning Attorney General Merrick Garland & the parents vs. Marxist school board mess, you probably heard yesterday on FNC (where else?) that Garland's son-in-law is heavily involved in making tons of $$$$$$ via people selling books with CRT garbage to schools. So Attorney General Garland has a HUGE CONFLICT OF INTEREST as he's threatening parents with legal action if they continue to complain to school boards, which BY THE WAY the federal government has NO business inserting its nose into - that's all under local control with local policing as well, as needed. But this is the kind of thing 3rd world totalitarians do, as we're learning in all areas of our society currently with our now-Marxist-infested institutions.

Janalu,

The bird show has been at the Band Shell and is free.  They have several shows a day.  They will have different species of birds, owls, hawks, eagles, crows and other.  they will relaese them the top of the Texas Star ferris wheel or from the back of the band shell and have them fly to the stage. They have a show every 2 hrs starting at 12:30.

If you are staying in McKinney I would suggest parking at the Parker Rd Plano park and ride and taking the train to the St Paul stop.  Get off and take the Green line east to Fair Park.  The Sr rate is $1.25 for a single trip or $3.00 for a day pass.

My wife ad I have enjoyed the Bird Show, Pig Races, Creative Arts, Dog Show and other events that are all free.

By the way, I read that Commander Cody's drummer said he died of esophagal cancer. They had that one song "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette" that was a minor hit, right? When I was in Michigan for their 2 reunion concerts in 2001, I discovered that they were all staying in the same Red Roof Inn in the south of Ann Arbor that I was in. I found out which room Cody was in, and I saw in that vacated room after he checked out an ashtray with cigarettes in it!

Lance,

Remember the story of Texas Governor Preston Smith?

Black man Lee Otis Johnson of Houston (died 2002 as found in this article), well anyway got 30 years in the late 1960's for passing a joint to an undercover cop and Governor Smith was giving a speech when the crowd started chanting "Free Lee Otis". The Governor thought they were yelling "Frijoles", so apparently he was asking an aide, "Frijoles? What are they yelling about beans for??!?!:

These paintings for $5 from one "Steve Keene" are obviously not as good as Hunter's stuff.

Part of an email from Jimmy Baker this morning. I don't think he would mind my posting it.

Blood report on Wednesday‘s labs looked good.  I’m 1/3rd of the way thru this mess, assuming that the PET scan in early January doesn’t contradict me!

Looking forward to be non-immunocompromised Again!

Tommy et al,

I just got a call from Steve Keene and he's driving through so we'll have dinner tonight!!! I haven't seen Steve in the flesh since August, 1979 at the 1st reunion!! YEE HAW!!!

So, Tommy, if you ever do the same, even though I don't remember your ever apologizing to me for anything, you are still forgiven of all, and I would very likely meet with you in a similar situation. After all, I AM in the forgiveness business.

David W,

Yes, just like when JFK was shot, I know EXACTLY where I was when I first learned of the Lee Otis Johnson tragedy.

Tommy,

Yes, sorry but that was a BAD time for me, but what a difference now 19 months later!! We'll have to play a ping pong game sometime. I'm not bad but of course you have the dimensions on me. Plus if you hold the paddle like the Orientals, I can't beat you, I'm sure. Just too much spin. Later, pater................

Hollis,

My brother told me that they postponed your reunion until next April. So I have 2 questions for you:

1) would you be attending? and 2) would you want to be involved in the toenails prank with him?

If you're not interested in that, please let me know. I tried contacting Robert Grinsfelder, but no luck. Do you know how to reach him or Lisa or Mike Murphy for that matter?

10/08/21 11:39 PM #22464

Tommy,

Yes, I remember you had told me about that tournament with Chris Streit, whom I remember reading about in the paper when his tragic fatal accident occurred - can't believe that's 50 years now. I had thought you had beaten him, but that shows how faulty memory can be. Still sounds like you could beat me - it's amazing how those skills don't seem to deteriorate over time like others do though - but I guarantee you there will still be some of my shots that you won't be able to return.

Saw Steve Keene tonight. His voice has changed, but then it's only been 42+ years since I last saw him! His hair has retained its color a lot better than mine has, but we both still have a lot of it so that's good. He said in spite of everything he was still and would remain friends with you and I can see that. Same with his relationship with the late Royce. Anyway we had a great time!

Steve only got the 1 photo of us by the lady waitress. Without having seen it, I can say unreservedly that I look at least 30 years younger than Steve does. Plus I had to keep wiping his chin as he was eating....pathetic....I fortunately caught myself though and WAS able to keep from calling him Joe 2 or 3 times........talk about a behavioral doppelganger with him and the ROAD KILL in Chief!!! WHOA, NELLY!!! I just hope I can get to see all those secret photos he took of everybody at his place before they get confiscated! Or he forgets where all of them are!

By the way, Steve did express to me your UNIVERSAL appreciation of my acronyms - hahahahahahha from Chief Mini-haha (he told me about the moniker too - good one, guys & gals!)!!

Longhorns ate Wheaties for breakfast, but should have had another bowl during halftime, plus some Prozac.  They got nervous towards the end.

Sure enjoyed that speedy little dude, Xavier Worthy!

Janalu,

Longhorns, schmonghorns. Go Cowboys! And I kept telling my brother that Tech scored 70 points against Texas and he kept saying it was the other way around; I guess I'm going to have to keep reminding him of that mistake of his until he gets that straight...hahahaha!
