Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

A friend emailed me this:

"We are not all equal. I worked very hard my entire life to get what I have.  Most of the people I know have too.  I  deserve where I am in life.  I will not give up what I have earned so that someone else who has not earned in the same way as I, can feel 'equal.'  Nor will I assume their debt.  I insist everyone else be held to the same standards."

"It is so disheartening to see our own citizens tearing apart our country in terribly detrimental ways and pitting one ethnic group against another, especially after what we have learned from MLK's 'I Have A Dream' speech."

It annoys me that people in our age category paid in to Medicare for 40+ years before receiving our benefit, but "Medicare for all" means that young people would receive the same benefit without the same 40+ years of contributions.

So, Biden stated that no one gave him advice to retain 2,500+ troops in Afghanistan, then he said he didn't recall that anyone did. Now two 4-stars say that they did give him that advice. Alternatives:

  1. The generals are lying.
  2. Biden is lying, which reinforces what many of us think about his character.
  3. Biden is telling the truth, i.e. that he doesn't recall. That suggests that 1) he has no memory of a conversation that has very important foreign policy ramifications, which speaks to his inability to perform, or 2) he didn't "hear" the advice because he already made up his (tiny) mind.

As former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said about Biden in his book in 2014: "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”

As I have said, it is disconcerting when the dumbest person in the room thinks he is the smartest person in the room, especially when that person is President of the United States.

The good and the bad.

The Hallmark Channel has announced 41 new Christmas movie premiers will be shown this year.  (ugh!)

A guess this means I won't have to watch Ancient Aliens too much.  yeah

"Sweep clean, Sissy" -- was probably my favorite actual political slogan ever.  (Other than satiric ones like "Dick Nixon -- before he dicks you" or "Unreaganable" or "Don't vote, it only encourages them" or "Run, Hillary, Run" on the front bumper of a car, or, in Houston when we had my former neighbor Kathy Whitmire as mayor:  "Toot, Toot, Tootsie, Goodbye.")

She was probably the last politician I actually had faith would try to represent the people when she was running.  With others I've been mildly hopeful -- a few have surprised me pleasantly, like Reagan and Trump or W as governor; most have surprised me the the other way, being way worse than I imagined -- Carter, both Bushes as President, Clinton, Obama, Abbott, ad nauseam.  Biden is in a class by himself.

Lowell, I confess that I actually like a lot of the easy-watching Hallmark movies. Not so much the pure romance versions, but I do like the mysteries. Simple, non-mentally-taxing escapism.

I also like movies from the '30s on TCM --  streaming, not the regular channel. Watching one now - The Case of the Curious Bride. Warrren William is nothing like Raymond Burr. He's a wise cracking smart-ass who operates along the edge.  Familiar character actor Allen Jenkins plays "Spudsy" (Paul) Drake.

Well, I think we've got a Super Bowl roster; now we'll see if we have a Super Bowl team.

Tommy,

Typical of Unknown Hinson lyrics, excerpt from "I'm the King":

"You work two jobs; I drink all day. And I like it that way. I am the king, one & only king of this house."

Here's an Amazon review of Unknown Hinson's "The Future Is Unknown" album:

Bob D,

Of course we could never forget those '72 bumper stickers: "Will Rogers never met George McGovern". And in my liberal fog, I voted for that fool!

JRB the Lesser/Joe Biden: "300,000 Afghani soldiers will keep the enemy at bay! C'MON, MAN!"

Joe Biden: "We're gonna stay there until all the Americans are out. C'MON, MAN!".

Joe Biden: "This $3.5 TRILLION bill costs NOTHING! C'MON, MAN!" (really 5.5+ trillion - more lies - duh)

JRB the Greater: "C'MON, MAN!"

The Dollar Tree Store is about to be renamed 'The $1.25--$1.50 Store,' because of 'The Trillions Dollar bill' that Dems say only the wealthy will fund.  Seems the far from wealthy will have to pay more too, when the true cost of the Bernie Sander's Dream Deal is realized in the costs of products bought by you-know-who.

Biden and Bernie don't like to say that corporations pass along their costs, do they?

Sandra.

Loved seeing the bride and groom in pictures. She looks radiant and happy and will be till she goes to the grocery store and sees what Democrat no inflation looks like.   Your mama has certainly earned the right to do what she thinks is best.  You are an angel of a daughter to indulge her.

Lowell,

I suspected your back problems were severe, but I had no idea your treatment included prick shock therapy for pain.  If I was getting my prick shocked, I have no doubt I would forget about how my back felt.  Please suggest that therapy to other liberals.  It is only fair you give them the means to get over the pain of having to cover up for Biden's gaffs at the border and in Afghanistan and the pain of having to lie about Biden's dementia and criminal activities.

Janalu,

Keep up the good fight on the other forum.  I regret that I am not there to be able to stand with you against the madness.

Janalu,

THAT'S SO DUMB!!! They should WAIT (not long) and call it instead the "10 Dollar Store" - that way also, you can more easily make future modifications, like "100 Dollar....", "1000 Dollar.......",............

Ditto from me. Whatever demonic is going on over there on that other forum, we KNOW you are GREAT at being OUR MAN there!!

By the way, you probably just heard this on Hannity too, but he said that it's now been THIRTY DAYS since Joe Biden has even MENTIONED the Americans he abandoned in Afghanistan. Wow, he REALLY HAS TURNED THE PAGE! Not really - he NEVER cared about those people or any people anywhere ever.

Chief Jimnauseum,

In reflection of the South Texas hispanic shift from liberal to conservative, the new slogan in the governor's race is "Even Fritos Ban Beto."

In a move to streamline the "dollar" store efficency, they have moved the carts to the parking lot for transporting currency into the store and reduced the size of the bags to carry stuff out.

In a bid for ratings month, A & E Network has replaced DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER with DOGSHIT THE BIDEN'S HUNTER.

Steve,

I post there only if I'm referred to on some issue.

You keep up your two cents worth here as well, since we need you, as always!

I just heard about Pelosi saying yesterday, I think it was, that we MUST push through Obama's huge tax plan!

Ha!  Sometimes the truth slips out, doesn't it?

I like your "Even Fritos ban Beto!"   That's a good one!   Catchy!!   Beto has been re-run so many times, they HAVE to know that retreads are second rate, and not wanted in Texas.

Chief Toenails,

Thanks for keeping me up on the news; being a social cripple involves mainly isolation from others BY others, but since I'm an introvert, I've always self-isolated too. So in terms of human interaction, with this pandemic that would have been over in the U.S. but for Biden's border catastrophe/plan/nightly joy with this latest ongoing super spreader border crisis, when assessing woe-is-me me, think of the pit & the pendulum or the like.

I'm actually thinking maybe they should change it to 0 Dollar Store, since so goes trend-setting California, so goes the US, right? You won't have to have any money soon, EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT AN ILLEGAL ALIEN, to take whatever you want just like in California now - if the haul is what, under a thousand or so, for that particular formerly criminal count of behavior (we don't call that sin, crime, or even MIS-behavior anymore)?

We really need to consider mass commitment for legislators & others provably insane, I'm thinking, so not just for all the loony homeless people that are chronically increasing now along with all the chronically increasing illegal aliens, Fentanyl doses, inflation in EVERYTHING (really noticing that lately), overseas danger to everybody, distancing from any hope as the Marxists see the light at the end of their tunnel, ad(JimCrow - MAN, I wish you had approved that!)nauseum,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

And thanks for the TV tip - Hunter the Horrible (his father: "My son Hunter is the smartest man I've ever known") will be a TON more fun to watch than Dog since Beth died. He's a lot more dysfunctional than the widower; that's a really savvy move by the network, so at least there IS that small glimmer of good news.

I don't remember this one. So sad she was gone a month shy of her 56th birthday. Life is just not fair. As I've said, I'm a sucker for a female voice & any slide instrument.......

Here's local to Portland, Amanda Richards & the Good Long Whiles. Though not an original, her grandfather Rusty Richards, was in the Sons of the Pioneers for a while. I like her guitarist. Amanda is also easy on my eyes. This is 30 minutes so several songs but I like the first one. Later he plays banjo before returning to his lap slide.

Just a couple of observations --

1) Bernie Sanders says that he already compromised in bringing down the proposed bill to a mere $3.5 trillion. It occurred to me that compromise is rather difficult when one person wants zero and the other person wants some positive number. It reminds me of when I was a little kid and my older brother twisted both my arms behind my back. When I objected strenuously, he offered to compromise by twisting only one of my arms behind my back.

2) President Biden and Nancy Pelosi assure us that the $3.5 trillion bill won't cost anything. I'm trying to imagine telling my generous parents that my undergraduate tuition, fees, room, and board didn't cost anything since my parents paid for them.

Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horses legs and rump, and chest.

After a few minutes, Johnny asked, "Dad, why are you doing that?"

His father replied, "Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy."

Johnny, looking worried, said, "Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom."

Ted Cruz was on Michael Berry's radio show this morning as I was drivng to the office.  He said that Bernie Sanders is chairman of the senate budget committee and that he is the one who had the $3.5 trillion bill written.  Bernie used to be the only socialist in the senate; now almost all of the dems are.  I like the way Cruz analyzes the issues almost exactly the same way I do and was trying to imagine someone like Tommy thinking the same thing about Biden, or Pelosi, or Sheila Jackson Lee, or AOC, or any other prominent dem.  I simply can't do it.

On another note -- I read a fascinating article about the liberal political action foundation that auditioned potential congress-critters for AOC's seat.  They had determined that they could put in a progressive shill if s/he were of the right ethnicity so they auditioned potential candidates.  AOC was chosen from over 2,000 applicants.  The woman is an actress playing a role.  I wonder how many of the others are -- I always thought that about Obama and Biden, but it explains a lot of the others, including the RINOs.

Ted Cruz.   Definitely a better lawyer than Trump.  lol.

I don't trust his positions as being genuine because of him being a lawyer.   Not that all legal people are that way, just that it always seemed to me they take a client and play a role in or on that client's behalf.

His legal representations in the past placed questions on his opinions about those he opposes in politics, using arguments against their past legal representations.

It's that way with all lawyers.   Their convictions are tricky...

Otherwise, he is extremely viable and witty on his feet like no one else I have witnessed.  Very well spoken.  A formiddable candidate.

Principles seem lost with him though.   I can't see his alliance with Trump being genuine except that he is voracious to get those Trump loyal voters.

Lowell,

Swallowing brussel sprouts instead of pecan pie doesn't seem so terrible after eating shit for 8 months.   You should hear what Bob Davidson and Pat Cowlishaw have to say about insurance men.  Trump has no legal training except from experience.  He is a real estate developer.

Talk about being genuine.  I would hate to have to make my living convincing people to pay more for bad things that might happen than the cost of bad things when they do happen.

Trump was never a lawyer.  He studied business at Wharton.

Cruz has no principles?   Where does that come from?

Cruz has lots of decent principles and ethics!   He was an excellent law student at Harvard; one of Dershowitz's best students.  He was also a formidable debater on the Princeton Debate Team before entering Harvard.

Of course he would like to get Trump loyalists to come his way!   What Republican wouldn't?

Bob,

I don't get AOC either!  You're correct, I think, that she is basically an attractive actress with new age, far leftist ideology BS in her brain-washed mind, just as Bernie Sanders bloviates, only having her position because the lazy rep who had the position before her, was really a pathetic sap. (An old white guy...)  He  occupied the office for years, assuming he didn't have to campaign to keep his cushy job.   She actively campaigned and showed her district's people that she was a caring, interested, minority person, like most of them were as well.  Because of that, she won handily.  If someone else would campaign the same way as she, but with actual knowledge of what would help the people of the district live better lives, offering tried and true, sensible facts at hand, (with printed fliers for all).... then that candidate could probably beat Miss AOC, methinks.  The facts in hand would need to be realistic, non-socialistic facts that wouldn't remove the voters' long-held choices enjoyed over the years.

Ocasio-Cortez strikes me as overly dramatic and one who loves the limelight offered.
