Message Forum

Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

We went to Cool Thursdays at the Arboretum this week. The performers bill themselves as The Jersey Tenors, and they are a cover group, mostly for the Four Seasons, but also for the Beach Boys, Springsteen, and others. They really play up the Joisey shtick, speaking like rejects from the Sopranos. I was surprised by this encore.

David,

Your analogy is quite interesting indeed.  I did not take offense.  Ok, so the complete and total solution is a high brick wall (or whatever - hang the cost and the poor over here who will be ignored because we spent the money on the wall instead of them) and a speech and strong message from Biden to stop.  So that will solve the issue and magically the cartel will stop, the poverty will stop, the earthquakes and hurricanes will stop, and all those who sought our message of the huddled masses will huddle somewhere else.  I did not realize it was that simple.

I'll simply ask, would you rather have Donald Trump in total irrevocable charge of all your personal affairs or would you prefer Joe Biden (or any R vs. D)? For that matter, which would you choose to sweep your driveway or take out the garbage? Since one of those 2 Presidents has NEVER done ANYTHING right, I know which one I'd choose.

And the ONLY reason the Haitians will be returned is because of all this visibility. I still don't think the border fiasco can continue until November, 2022, even with all the competing distractions of the other current ongoing Dem SSSSScandalSSSSS (like a snake) & mismanagement. Even the BRAIN-DEAD DEM PARTY (remember, PRESIDENT ROAD KILL was their nominee) has got to realize that eventually in my mind.

AIN'T LIFE IN THE U.S. GRAND THESE MARVELOUS DEM-LED DAYS?!?!?!?!?! GO, GAVIN NEWSOM!!! KEEP DIGGING THAT DITCH WE NOW CALL THE GRAND CANYON OF CALIFORNIA!!! YEE HAW!!!!

I am not obsessed with the illegal immigration.   It's the natural order or human capitalism...flowing persecuted poor to free societies.  I think it's quite a bit overblown..

On plastics   Today I spoke again with that (former, not in a smaller company) plastics engineer and mentioned our forum discussion of plastics.

He pointed out the biggest plastics polution which is both on gasoline and electric vehicles...Tires and their never ending break apart and breakdown.   Rains and sunshine wash all that poly into the creeks, rivers, bayous, bays and oceans... But, we gotta have our private single transportation....

The money for the wall/barrier was appropriated by Congress long ago, and "the poor will always be among us, "as the Bible teaches us."

The problem is the socialistic or Communistic governments who usurp the monies from their people for THEIR OWN GREED, and their people, not allowed to defend themselves, since they have no weapons (a condition forced upon them by their governments) are left with 'mass protest methods' to use, and at such times as they choose to act out, end up gunned-down by their evil and greedy autocrats.   We saw what happened to the Hong Kong people waving United States flags to say, "We want to have freedom like America has," yet they too were gunned-down or captured, placed in prison for probably years and years.  Therefore, we have evidence of what happens in autocratic or Communistic countries when the people have no way to defend themselves, and are forced to live having their every condition of life "be" as their governments force them to be/have.  No choices for them, just "do as we tell you to do."

We have given money to our southern countries for years, but because we don't send along with that money the administrators to "see to it" the paths of that money, along with teachers and construction contractors who will use the money as it is intended to be used, i.e., FOR THE PEOPLE, we are wasting our money and are just "making ourselves feel good" to be able to say "WE DID SOMETHING" for those people south of us," knowing full well that the monies went to all the wrong places, and was wasted.

As for the cartels who roam the areas south of us, they are the products of corrupt governments,  There are also many government "officials," who are in cahoots with cartel outlaws, getting kick-backs from the cartels, or in other words, the evil guys are all robbing the peoples to benefit themselves.  We can see what is KNOWN BY ALL, as we have plenty of documentary TV programs pointing out the mass corruption that rules everywhere south of our border.

Also, there are so many poor people of the world, our United States can't possibly allow them all to come here to become OUR PEOPLE, so we HAVE to go to their areas and TEACH them what we have learned, to help them 'pick up the pieces of their shattered countries,'  beginning anew with ideas we have gathered, along with education toward improving their lives.  It is a humongous undertaking, and will require humongous amounts of money accompanied by guidance and patience that THEIR CURRENT LEADERS don't desire at all.  Those foul governments need to be overthrown, but will that ever happen?

Looks doubtful to me.  Will any of these solutions ever happen?

What do you think?

In addition, that slogan on the base of our Lady Liberty, was never the all-encompassing idea of our country's purpose.  We are not the "go to" place for the poor and needy.   Our country was founded on undeveloped land, that our settlers came to, in order to establish freedom of religion and freedom of new ideas, and those founders forged a totally new country, by way of their own blood, sweat, and tears, and determination to establish a different country, unlike the countries they had left.   Are we a compassionate country, ready to give compassionately to refugees?  Yes we are, but that doesn't mean we are the world's battered peoples' shelter.  We are the world's example of how to develop a nation with freedom's goals, and we can show others how to do the same, if they have determination and desire.  We can help them, but they have to do the majority of the developing themselves.

That slogan at the base of the Statue of Liberty, was placed there, years after the Statue was forged.  The Statue is a statue of freedom and liberty, not a statue of poor, huddled masses waiting to be taken care of as helpless indigents, longing for pity and charity.

We offer freedom to those who will adopt our ideas and customs, desiring to become Americans, dedicated to the ideas and goals that are engrained in our hearts and minds.  We don't long for people of other nations who want to come here and rob us of our prosperity, with the idea of re-establishing their former national ideas here instead of there; those places where their nations began.  Our nation is a nation forged with unique ideas and different goals, and our citizens enjoy that which we have developed here, wanting to preserve it all for our children, but offering the same to anyone willing to adopt our love of nation, working to preserve it along with us.

Our Bible tells us "not to just give a man a fish to feed himself for one day, but TEACH HIM TO FISH, so that he can feed himself from now on."

Lowell,

So capitalism is "flowing" the people to our shores? It's capitalism's fault? Well, actually, yes, capitalism is the cause - ANY SANE PERSON WANTS THAT OVER WHAT THE ILLEGALS KNOW PERSONALLY, PERHAPS EVEN THE PATH WE'RE CURRENTLY HEADED DOWN! Wake up, sir, unless I'm misreading your first paragraph - I didn't know if you meant to say "or" or "of".

But I will go back to the first rule of politics and that's to ignore the first rule of economics, which is SCARCITY, SCARCITY, SCARCITY, something Dems like Schumer, Pelosi & HilLIARy know but hope Dems like YOU never know. There is NEVER enough of ANYTHING to satisfy human demand. PERIOD. But capitalism, far better than any other man-made system ever, has provably done the best job of having all the scant things distributed the best and to the most people for the most benefit, albeit NEVER perfectly (this is man we're talking about here).

But yeah, I actually prefer subways & trains for my transportation. I do love that about NYC, London, Paris. I'm so sorry that from my limited knowledge, they tore out all the mass transportation, tracks, etc. in southern California to replace them with roads. That's a shame, even though I'll leave it to the experts on here to explain why we still need gas/oil for the railroads/subways, which I have ZERO problem with (or any energy source done wisely).

all math classes after high school

all education department courses I took to become a high school math teacher

accounting

chemistry

biology - dealing with the fetal pig - I think jail would be more fun, and probably smell better too

any course taught by a non-faculty member who IS a member of MENSA

all courses I took for my master's degree

any course attended by Steve Keene

As I've said, the more time that passes, the less and less I think of the Bushes & Romney (yet they're such NICE people!).

Now George is saying the January 6 riot is as worrisome to him as foreign extremism? I think he's currently losing his brain cells faster than his hair.

Good job making your point!

Lance,

Each small square color in this photo represents one cross stitch.  It is not crochet, it is cross stitch.  The reason this has taken over 35 years is because I would leave it for long periods of time and ignore it.  I only did it when extremely bored or nailed at home, like I am now.

09/19/21 03:06 PM #22263

Sandra Spieker (Ringo)

Lance,

This is crochet.  It is a purse I completed many years ago.  I have made many of these in different patterns and colors.

Lance,

Do you know how to adjust the font size of your text in a post?  It would help tremendously and cut down the length of your posts.  I admit that the large font in the bold text is easy on the eyes, however my right hand gets fatigued scrolling down the page.  (This is humor and a bit of sarcasm.)

Tommy,

Where I come from, my posts & interactions with you are called "diversity", you know, the thing the Dems on your side ingenuously promote all the time while constantly trying to deny it everywhere to everybody else.

I do appreciate your revised tone since you've returned. Tommy, I'm sorry I wrote those things I have now deleted. Obviously I won't be relenting on some folks, as you will read next...........

And I would LOVE to hear any defense you can conjure up for PRESIDENT ROAD KILL. I do RELISH target-rich environments with opponents!

Steve,

Thanks for the compliment - did you say exactly what you meant to say there? You might want to review that longer sentence. And afraid I'm still going to refuse to ever attend any more classes with you - that Dillard experience was just too enjoyable oops I mean upsetting - hahahahahahahahha!!!!!

OK, Tommy and Lance, I cleaned up some of this post, for those who saw it previously. I think this points the wrath where it belongs - our national (and elsewhere) Dem Party. I'm actually trying, believe it or not. And thanks, David C - you really have become not only the mother of all self-actualized persons (you really should reconsider your pronouns), but also I appreciate your maturity & wisdom. But to publicly remove any possible confusion, no, you didn't counsel me at all about this particular editing.

The forum sponsor here is biased toward being prudently hands-off in this and everything else so I also appreciate that. Since I won't be returning to the other forum, I would like THAT OTHER forum sponsor to go back and change BACK those N-words that HE typed, as he replaced on my old posts, what I had originally written, namely, ANY kind of several special characters derived from the upper-cases of the numbers at the top of the keyboard a la "@$%$#%%", anything would be fine. THAT WOULD BE VERY NICE!

Sorry I'm boring you, Lance - remember, like the time you asked me to expound about Portlandia, I innocently responded, and then when reminded about that, you said I was boring you then. As I asked you privately not long ago, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?!?!

Want to continue, Lance? I can embarrass you ALL DAY LONG!

Sandra,

That is one nice cross stich.  Have you thought about entering it in the State Fair Of Texas.  My wife has 2 blue ribbons a red and a Purple "best in show for her crochet afgans.

Wayne,

Your wife's afghan is beautiful!  No wonder she ribboned at the fair!  My cross stitch is from a kit. I think to enter the fair the design must be original. I have seen the entries at the Fair and all of them astound me!  Intricate and without any visible errors!  I am humbled just looking at them!

All,

I'm reposting the following from post 23707 not far above:

OK, Tommy and Lance, I cleaned up some of this post, for those who saw it previously.

Sandra,

When Jo Ann was working on the Afgan she could only do it in the living room because she had boxes stacked  up with the yarn so she was able to switch from one color to another color as the pattern progressed.  The front and back are the same.

Sandra:

I'm about to visit the land of Wisconsin where the idea of creating "hooked rugs" is more prevalent than down here.  My wife typically buys several when we are there.

Are you familiar with this art form?  It always seemed to me like cross stich, except with larger strips of material.

Side note:  My mother-in-law, wife of the Methodist minister, created hooked rugs.  She gleefully would describe herself as a hooker.

Also, my sister lives in Keller and has an old loom which she uses to create "rag rugs".  It was my great-grandparents loom which they used to create and sell rugs in Iowa in order to make a little extra money.  We brought it down in a trailer forty years ago and my sister has used it since.  She is active in the local Keller museum where they also have a loom and use it as an example of how things were made in old times.

Chief Toenails,

Hey, I've never liked my last name, and I need your advice. My Y-chromosome is from the McCoy/McKay family but I'm rather looking for a simple little surname for a simple little social cripple. I've always loved bird-watching, as you remember from the RHS halls, and that's really cool how you've installed all those hidden cameras in your place in Texas - I can't wait to see all that! Anyway, how about this new name? Jim Crow. I kinda like the sound of that for some reason I can't quite figure out, it's easy to spell, and those ARE smart, fascinating birds.

Jim Bedwell

Tommy,

I've apologized to you for yesterday; if you've ever apologized to me, I don't remember it. Maybe you did once or twice, can't remember......

But I've admitted I'm socially challenged. And I just have SO FEW interests PLUS SO LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SO MANY THINGS, especially those that everybody else is always so excited about. My memory's going, and I really need to do something about these anti-psychotic meds. I would never lie to you about any of this, of course, but I really think they're not working very well. And from what you're saying, since everybody on earth agrees it's almost impossible that I have any truth that would be causing you all those mental problems, and it's just my tone, words, monolithic thinking & obsessions with just politics, etc. I guess it's good for you I didn't want to meet with you last year. I mean I'm so NARROW, socially unskilled, so RIGID spiritually. etc. I think all the diverse people you talked to can agree with both of us now that I am ONE BORING FELLOW, probably not worth wasting any more time over. I've been trying to hide that for literally decades now. Better it comes out now, I guess, rather than later........I once went back to Austin College in 1972, and I saw a girl there our age. When she saw me, her immediate reaction to me, obviously spontaneous & unedited was "Oh, yeah. I had forgotten that you were even alive". I know you're just trying to help me....Lord knows I need it...but frankly I just don't have anything else to talk about...you saw the list of courses I wish I'd never taken....no creativity really, any glint of human philosophy worthy of discussion totally missing in action (you can ask Cowlishaw or Bill Moore about that), no interest in crocheting, global warming, critical race theory, and I do loathe universally beloved Phil Collins like everybody else does Albania. Actually.you are quite fortunate not to have to walk in MY BLEAK wilderness or even just be around me. I hope I can learn some new techniques or ANYTHING to become a more interesting person; obviously I've become a real sleep inducer for poor Lance now. I think he should start calling me "Ambien" or "Ambien Jim" for my seemingly now chronic deleterious effect on him. But when you ended that one sentence with "in a totalitarian absolute way in which there is either never a way for some or no way for others to show more than what they already reach with only their superhuman limits to stop them", I must admit, you lost me completely with what you were trying to say. I know, I'm not a member of MENSA like you; I didn't make any 800 on GRE math.

In conclusion, what I think is, despite your lengthy attempt to get me to listen to reason, what it comes down to is typical of the left: you don't like what I say, you want me to shut up (I never will), and this is just 1 of the techniques used since discussion of issues is verboten because the right has the truth, empiricism, insight, history & morality on its side.

Anyway have a great week.............
