The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

There's a guy born in 1952 who's a music entertainer in Portland. He's a 1974 graduate of UT-Austin like I am. He told me that when he came out here that he had heard how the liberals here were very nice, but he learned before too long that that was just a misperception, and I'm here to verify his education in this matter, of course some worse than others yet a VERY few even likable!! The key to discerning the difference between likable or not in these political enemies is very simple - JUST LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE A RIGHT-WINGER AND/OR CHRISTIAN, and watch their reaction(s). hahahhahahahahaha!!!

I would guess the percentage of liberals here in the blues/rock crowd I'm part of, would be at least 80%, but maybe/probably not as high as 90. I've just met too many people out here that think like I do - usually, we find out (in a big surprise that we found a kindred soul!) we think similarly after having known each other for a while since the left CANNOT tolerate hearing ANY right-wing talk so we don't discuss politics with anybody pretty much among the music crowd here. But yeah, it's mostly left-wingers........

But the owner of the main/best Portland music store, Music Millennium, one Terry Currier, is a liberal but you'll NEVER meet a sweeter, nicer person than he is!!! GO FIGURE!!! He and I are friends and he wrote a nice reply to my farewell email to all here that I've already sent out. Yes, I know, I'm one of his best customers, but still, I'm witnessed WAY too many acts of kindness and goodness from that man! AMEN!

Jim,

That is really bad to use a word and then misspell it.  I usually use the spell check but the way my eyes are these days I really didn't notice the T.

I loved the meme you sent me about the Army Surplus store run by Afghanis that is called Traitor Joes. I guess you heard that the Associated Press is reporting that there are hundreds of old men who have mu;tiple child brides under 14 who have arrived at the UAE intake point in Dubai and McGill Airforce Base in Wisconsin which is the American drop off for the rescued Afghanis.  They are allowed to leave the base at will even though they are polygamists and child rapists.  Some of the girls have said they were kidnapped as these old Taliban guys headed for the airport.  The problem seems to be that Biden todd the Marines to load whoever showed up on the planes to clear the airport in Kabul.  So we left our friends behind and loaded child rapists and polygamist kidnappers instead.  I bet they left the airport in Wisconsin looking for American children to add to their harems.  In another report it showed the last man leaving Afghanistan as the General who stepped on the plane.  They did not tell you that the next 5 planes left the airport with no one on board but the pilots.

Maybe this is better than ALA (American Last Always) hats, for the 2022 midterm elections for the Dems:

ALLAH (America Lovingly Last Always Hurrah) hats!!!!!!

PLUS the hats will be the inverse color of the MAGA hats - black representing  all kinds of evil things with red lettering symbolizing all the blood, most of which is yet to come, or Marxism or both. COOL!!!

And remember the old saying about Washington, D.C.?

First in war, first in peace, and last in the American League.

So a new slogan:

Washington, D.C.: Last in war, last in peace, and last in the American Commonweal

Chief Toenails,

Unforgivable.

Chief Bedpost

P.S. Aw, shucks. I don't want to, but you are forgiven. After all, in that GREAT picture, you might think Devils Tower is your house and the cattle are your livestock at your Texas country estate. BUT YOU DID MISSPELL TRAITOR!!!!

Chief Stephen Toenails,

You mean this one?

Actually another RHS '69er sent me this meme, as you call it, and I just mass-emailed it out!

Chief Toenails,

What a fitting end a la Joe the Abandoner to our presence there - 5 planes with 0 evacuees.

But DON'T WORRY about those child molesters, etc. - after all, Joe doesn't. And he is OUR leader (I forget what the German word is for that).

And please don't discuss this anymore. I think, I'm not sure but I'll have to check, but some of those VERY SAME individuals you're badmouthing may have ALREADY contributed to my re-enslave-Britney-Spears fund!!! I'll get back to you on that privately maybe.

Watching the UT vs. UL game and noticed that the Silver Spurs are pulling duty both with Bevo and Old Smokey. Turns out the the Texas Cowboys are on probation for a hazing incident. Apparently, a new Cowboy died in a car wreck after a retreat in 2019. The University checked into the retreat and determined that there was hazing. It suspended the Cowboys for 6 years, but can reinstate earlier. Lots of well-known and/or wealthy men were in the Cowboys, and I suspect that they are encouraging the University to reinstate at the earliest possible date under the terms of the suspension -- January 2022.

Guys, when you were a kid, did you ever try to do any tricks on your bike? Prepare to be humbled by ...... a girl!!! Well, a woman, anyway, and a good looking one at that!  You can skip the first 30 seconds.

Jobs/unemployment report just out and AS ALWAYS under Dems, the lower-than-expected results were surprising, but only to Dems of course. Only 235K+ jobs created instead of the expected 750K+ jobs. SO PREDICTABLE.

Also I like what Congressman Jim Jordan said today. Biden is saying the Afghanistan evacuation was an "extraordinary success" but yet he's blaming Trump, the hostages he abandoned, etc., for the situation. Of course, Biden can't think properly about anything anymore (as if he ever could), so really the appalling lack of logic belongs to his clueless staff. All he can do these days is repeat their stupidity.

David, one of my memories was bicycling to Heights Park for Rinky Dink practice.   I was in full uniform with helmet, shoulder pads, hip pads, and all.   I cut through a back yard and alley from Newberry to Greenleaf, heading down to Thompson.   There is a hill of sorts.   For some reason, it came to my head I could quickly turn the handlebars around, like I had seen on some bicycle trick show somewhere.   Well, on the downhill coast there I tried it, and of course completely wrecked and went crashing and sliding down Greenleaf.   My gear  protected me and I re mounted my bike and got to practice, somewhat nonplussed, but unhurt.

I guess you're nonplussed....somewhat nonplussed is too wordy...

09/05/21 07:51 AM #22056

Steve Keene

Lowell.

Is nonplussed the same thing as minused and equalled?    How bout those Raiders embarrassing the Cougars?  I am not sure how much protection the gear gave you after looking at your face in your profile picture.

Chief Bedpost.

I have got to quit hanging out with Wayne and maybe my spelling will improve.

I get emotional when I think of the Afghanistan exit.  I sadly cried when General McKenzie was shown stepping on the sixth to the last plane to leave Afghanistan.  I cried  for the families of the 13 servicemen who died at the hands of terrorists while hemmed in at the Kabul airport like pigs in a sty.  I cried for the Afghan women who had enjoyed 20 years of relative freedom, going to school, getting out in public, taking jobs and removing veils.  I felt embarrassed at the ineptitude of the withdrawal where we only had required 2500 service personnel to give superior air power and intelligence to our Afghan allies.  I am fearful of the future when 86 billion dollars of sophisticated equipment were handed over to a bunch of seventh century tyrants and I know this will not end well.  I am sad for the Afghan families who aided American and Allied interests and now await a knock on their door each night and imagining the horrors that are in store for them and their families by Taliban reprisals.  I am embarrassed that no provision was made for American citizens wno were told you are free to go if you can run a gauntlet of Taliban fighter checkpoints and desperate crowds to get to the airport. I am embarrassed at our loss of prestige in the international community by not being able to exit the war gracefully.  I am appalled that the leader of our country cannot bring himself to admit to a mistake in how things were handled and is lying and changing his story daily.   Whatever happened to Harry Truman's "The Buck Stops Here?"  Only corruption bucks seem to stop at his desk.  Incredibly he is claiming a great victory while he stands at the podium refusing to take questions.  The last line of our Declaration of Independence contains a pledge by our forefathers.  It says "we pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor to one another."  Their Honor was as important to them as their life and wealth.  I guess I am most sad that our Honor has disappeared from so many aspects of our lives as Americans and I am not sure how we will ever get it back.

Steve,

Don't blame me for your spelling errors.  It can be a combination of several things:

Old Age

Being an engineer

Graduate of Tech

Living in Carl's Corner

and other things.

Spell check can help spotting misspelled words but it is not perfect and cannot telling if the correctly spelled word is the correct word for the thought.

Like : There/their, Four/for , one/won and many others.

Chief Toenails,

GREAT gut-spilling and summary of this historic, watershed, ONGOING disaster whose effects will reverberate for a LONG TIME - what border catastrophe with its accompanying China virus super-spreader (AND MANY OTHER, ALL BAD) ramifications? Please note the usual under-the-rug sweepers working overtime to say the war is over - remember Trump had to go in and get rid of Obama-Biden-created ISIS. How can any country ever trust us again and how can any thinking American ever vote Dem again? Like southern Dem (at the time) George Wallace said, impeachment today, impeachment tomorrow & impeachment forever (wow, after observing the ridiculous impeachment attempts against Trump, I can think like a Dem now!) - oh, wait, George was talking about segregation.

Nonplussed also means being under Marxist governance, except that you don't get the equalled, but only the minused.

By the way, did you mean she would be doing The the routine sans clothes or I would be watching sans clothes? I know you too well - both, right?

About Biden --

It is sad when someone is stupid. It is catastrophic when that same person is the President of the United States and thinks he is smart.

Peggy Noonan had a good line. She was talking to someone who knew Biden well and who said that Biden always thinks he is the smartest person in the room. Her response: "They must be small rooms."

I have asked this several times and no one has ever given me a good reason.

What is wrong with early voting having a 24 hour voting pol place or 2 or 3 in a large metropolitan area?

I find nothing wrong with that.    Is it just too hip or modern or progressive?

09/06/21 12:13 PM #22064

David Cordell

Lowell, why do we need 24-hour voting?

Separately, we watched The Courier last night on on Amazon Prime. Benedict Cumberbatch. He's always good. It's based on a true story about passing secrets from Russia with regard to missles in Cuba. Very good movie.

It gives a chance for the party in power to know how many votes are needed to change the election.  Then they have enough time for computer programs and boxes of prefilled out ballots to be inserted in the system to throw the election.  You never came back at my comment that maybe you didn't get all the protection you desired from the football helmet and pads on your bike after looking at your profile picture.  I thought you would like that one and was eagerly anticipating your funny comeback.

09/06/21 03:03 PM #22066

Lowell,

Having 24 hr a day for 15 days would be hard to staff and keep the buildings open. With 14 days of early voting with 7 am to PM voting times and being open on Saturday and  Sunday, how does that prevent anyone from finding a time to vote and some say it would be hard on minorities. And how will limiting the drop off boxes for absentee ballots when an absentee ballot can be dropped in any US Postal Service box makes it hard to vote? Is it because Dems and minorities do not trust the USPS?

When in Dallas County there have been minority canidates for local offices, County Commissioner, City Council, State Rep and others have used voter fraud to get elected, how does that make fraud insignificant? When there are elections in Texas that end up in a tie or less than 10 vote difference make fraud unimportant?

Why would a Dallas Latino leader and Democrat have his neices register to vote in his district when they lived in another county so he could be elected  make fraud insignificant?  When one of the neices reported the fraud she was exilled from the family.

You have to look at local races that can be affected and not statewide or national races.

How much fraud is acceptable?

In Texas history LBJ won a US Senate race with a fraudlent ballot box from the Valley because without the box he would have lost.  That gave him the nicname " Landslide Lyndon".

There have been people in Dallas County that harvested votes by getting a number of mail-in ballots and holding them until a canidate paid them to turn in the ballots. Real cases dealing with fraud

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Good points, David and Steve!

Who the heck votes at 3:00 AM?  And what precinct worker wants to sit at a voting precinct at 3:00 AM just waiting around for voters to arrive?  There would have to be police protection provided for a worker at 3:00 AM, since no one would know what type of situation might happen at 3:00 AM in an unlocked building at that ridiculous hour, right?

And when drive-through voting is allowed, with maybe six people arriving in a car, there is no privacy of a person's recorded vote, which is what is supposed to happen with each vote.  Each vote cast could be just a predetermined prank vote or a vote cast with no rational thought given it, which is detrimental to our country's future, of course.

Also, having a "voting month or voting '6 weeks period,' is, as Steve was saying, an allowance period for malfeasance to occur, or "cheating," and is not needed.  Voters who have given appropriate thought to what voting is meant to be, will be able to figure out how to get to their precincts within a scheduled time frame, or they can vote early if they request a ballot be sent to their address, just as all of us have done for many years.  We don't need the Democrat Party trying to inform us that WE MUST HAVE A VOTING MONTH OF DAYS.   We need to stop the falsehoods circulating in our news media, saying that Black people, Hispanics, Asian citizens, or any other minority are not smart enough or are not able to set aside an hour or two in their schedules to be able to get to their precincts to vote.  Saying those types of statements is to say that particular groups living among us are ignorant, or could even be construed as racist statements!  We have noticed that all of our citizens or even folks living here with green card IDs, etc., do certainly know how to get themselves to their local cell phone offices to buy their cell phones and arrange the payment schedules for the phones, or even some 'family plan phone arrangements,' so if they can do that (!) then they can arrange their voting needs too, doncha' think?

It is pretty darn obvious to see why the Democrats NEED their permanent "under-class" of people living in the United States, isn't it?  We've been informed that THAT was indeed happening, and now we can actually SEE IT HAPPENING before our own eyes, in due course!

Wide open borders forever!

09/06/21 04:11 PM #22068

Wayne Gary

Lowell,

Would not having one 24 hr voting site in Harris County make it hard for minorities to travel across the county to vote thus making the policy trying to keep minorities from voting?

09/06/21 04:58 PM #22069

Wayne Gary

Lowell,

In Pres Bidens home state of Del. they do not have early voting. Is that not them trying to deny minorities the right ot vote?
