Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Lance, I must tell you that it is annoying when you make comments like "the forum is in a deep malaise."  You may think that you are trying to stoke the conversation, but it is a negative comment that is not helpful.

If people want to post, they will post. If I want to post about politics, I will.

That said, Jim B's comments about Biden pretty much reflect my own. Biden seems to think the Afghan debacle went about as well as could be expected. What a dolt!

My political solution? Elect conservative Republicans!

Lowell:

Although my story is not directly tied to your car robbery situation, perhaps you could improvise.

Many years ago I had a Viet Nam vet working for me.  Leroy was probably strongly affected by the war and his experiences.  For instance, he once described to me how he could shut down business in Dallas just by posting four friends with weapons at four key entry points to the city.  Uh, Leroy, you don't need to be thinking that way...

Anyway, he once had some teenagers who decided it was fun to jump the curb and, in the dark of the night, drive over the lawns of several individuals.  They might have been aiming at Leroy's yard, but that wasn't clear.  They were warned a couple of times, but did it again.  Leroy decided to address it himself.  He sat in a lawn chair in the dark and waited.  When they came through he fired his weapon with armor piercing ammunition into the block of their vehicle.  He laughingly told me that the kids' eyes were as big as saucers.  Of course, he was ticketed, but found it worthwhile.  I thought he was crazy and made sure that I never alienated him nor gave him reason to be angry at me.

Maybe a little vigilante justice, eh?

David C,

Actually for once I may agree with Biden. My viewpoint is the same as Joe's, namely that, with his leading our "plan" in the Afghanistan withdrawal fiasco, it probably went as well as ANYTHING that could be expected from that TOTAL ZERO (and his staff of genius-IQ saints).

Too bad General Milley's lie about "it all happened in 11 days without a warning" or words to that effect or Joe's saying for weeks now that there's no intel saying it will all collapse quickly, ALL LIES!

It was a debacle. Biden shouldn't have pulled out at all. We hadn't lost a serviceman in Afghanistan in 18 months. We weren't in a war. We were in a balancing act -- maintaining a stable situation in an unstable part of the world. We had bases that were militarily useful in that part of the world.

David,

I don't think Biden had a choice.  The choice and deliberations for the pullout occurred last year with the Trump administration.  Baradar The Butcher was released from a Pakastan jail in order for negotitations to begin for the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, probably back in 2018.  He is now the leader of the Tailban and has arrived there. (Link to a New York Post article).  If Biden had decided not to withdraw, I am sure the war would have escalated and in view of the fact that our troops were vastly lower, that would have been dicey to say the least.  Biden just finished what Trump had started.  It is a mess, will mostly likely be a mess for a very long time to come as well.  No win situation, in my opinion.

Here is another link to Baradar's release.  It seems it was a the US Government's request.

Then there is this:  IMF has decided to withhold 450 million in funds due to be released to Afghanistan this week.

Sandra,

Biden had PLENTY of choices, but he chose to refuse to listen to the intel, generals, and advisors.

Trump had a plan to withdraw and it was working. First would exit the civilians, then the military & other equipment & LASTLY the troops. Dumb Joe pulled the troops out first, thereby CAUSING this fiasco.

David Cordell

Sandra,

First, I disagree that Biden's actions were consistent with Trump's decision, i.e. Taliban didn't fulfill their end of the bargain, thus withdrawal wasn't required. Further, I'm not sure the Taliban deserves full fidelity to agreements.

Second, if Biden felt obligated to follow a Trump policy, I wish he would have chosen not to kill the Keystone pipeline. (And now he wants Saudi Arabia to boost production!!!)

Biden chose the two paths above, both of which were bad for this country. Our allies certainly are not pleased with the events, and Biden certainly did not improve our standing internationally.

You may like the fact that Bden is pursuing leftist policies, and you may believe that Trump was a jerk (I agree)  and a bad president (I mostly disagree), but the fact is that Biden is stone cold idiot. Age has exacerbated the problem, but he was always an idiot. He was clearly the dumbest person on stage at the Democrat candidate debates.

Again, I think it was a foolish mistake to withdraw from Afghanistan, but the way it was done was incredibly inept. Biden gives himself credit for the vaccines (Trump deserves credit) and blames Trump for Afghanistan (Biden deserves blame).

Lance,

With your history, I doubt I'll be interested in more make-work from you. But you could ask. Plus with my impending divorce, house sale, move, etc. I'm gonna be kinda busy. Also I may have a growth removed from my tongue this afternoon - so I might have tongue cancer, we'll see. Hey, I'm READY!!! This world.............never mind..........

And you NEVER answered my question. Are you going to send your DNA into familytreeDNA.com or not? Plus when are we going to hear the other results from your testing by that other forum's sponsor?

Oh, and I did LOVE the Churchill quotes - he's a real hero of mine - after all, he was instrumental in saving the world from fascism - too bad it's back with a vengeance - all these ism's are variations of Marxism really. Plus I did also LOVE the apropos photoshop of the Taliban with the bumper sticker - already mass emailed that one out!

David C,

GREAT synopsis of the fiasco - you shoulda been a writer or professor!!!!

And it was so SADLY hilarious the other day when Biden gave his speech saying the buck stops at his office and in the rest of the speech he's blaming Trump, et al.............He's SO GONE he probably wouldn't understand if you pointed this out to him.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

A State Department program developed by the Trump administration to provide swift and safe evacuation of Americans from crisis zones was eliminated by the Biden administration only months before the Taliban takeover of Kabul.  Anthony Blinken took care of that decision.  (Poor judgment!)

The plan was directed by Trump's bureau and was named the Contingency and Crisis Response (CCR) plan.  It would have been executed according to developments happening on the ground, and would have gotten the Americans out first, not last.

Just like I thought - rotsa ruck - nobody will have ANY interest in that anyway.

But you still need to answer my 2 questions. :)

Janalu, I'll bet you that Trump even informed Biden of that withdrawal plan during that very cooperative transition period between his slaughter and the inauguration...NOY

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Lowell,

Trump wasn't slaughtered (didn't you get the memo?) and is planning his return, much to my chagrin.  I would rather he get behind DeSantis, Tom Cotton, Rubio, or Ted Cruz to lend his support, than to try to return to office.  He will probably be shot right into his Cheetos hair coloring, by some crazed Democrat, if he shows his face on the campaign trail again: the hate that consumes the liberals is THAT intense, accompanied by a high level of violence in this country, wickedly rampant and probably continuing for an indeterminate length of blood-tinged time.

As far as when he learned of Trump's exit plan, it must have been after March, since it was in March that Biden decided to ignore his generals and the numerous, Pentagon advisors agressively warning him, with Biden choosing instead to allow the Taliban to return to power.  And even though the US still has troops in Germany to maintain a presence, as well as in South Korea since 1953, Biden determined US citizens couldn't handle a minimal force in Afghanistan for a continuing while, (quashing Trump's efforts with Taliban honchos) which would have been to further allow exactly what our troops were doing successfully in that country for over a year now.

By the way, Trump didn't need to give Biden a cooperative transitional period because Biden, who has been in office for forty some-odd years, already knows it all!   We can tell Biden knows it all by interpreting his obvious confidence level and observing his 'well-thought-out' recent decisions, informing us that the man knows what to do in any governmental situation, even stating telepathically, with a wink and a nod, that "I know it all," through osmosis, and through the many years of watching others, practicing lessons gleaned, and using the role of the Vice Presidental experience, garnering additional, invaluable knowledge.

This past week has further illuminated the genius of this man, situated upon his pedestal; this gentlemanly, totally honest leader of our United States!

Lance,

You'll have 0 interest in your latest endeavor.

HOWEVER, I'm about to give up. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So I've decided instead of helping people with genealogy or anything else, I'm going to join the worldwide cabal against freedom, truth & God and will now be aiding them in attempting to enslave the world with Marxist ideology/practices.

As a small first step, I will be leading an effort to REENSLAVE Britney Spears. We guys have been getting the short end of the stick for TOO LONG now (all puns intended), and Britney's poor father deserves some support too! I'm going to bequeath half of whatever I have left (won't be much) to a fund to achieve that SOLE GOAL of resubjecting Britney to him. Will you join me in this?

Hey we papered & egged the world as youths. Now we can enslave them!!!! YEE HAW!!!

Reading the back and forth about Biden and his screw up of Afghanistan, it really hit me why talking points are so powerful with Dems and seem silly to Repubs:  being able to do independent analysis.

I had a bizarre experience in a suburban county yesterday:  a trial where my client, the judge, and I were in court and the other side appeared via Zoom (which is an option they don't really use much in that county).  The court reporter had to set her laptop up so the judge and I had to be in the picture at the same time -- I stood facing the camera next to the front of the bench and leaned in his direction when I spoke and he scooted over and leaned towards me so we were both in the picture and spoke into the camera.  They had a camera on the witness stand so when my client testified she was in her own frame.  They only have four frames on the court's set up and the other party was at home and his lawyer was in his office.  It was all an executive decision by the court reporter that the judge went along with meekly -- which is funny because he's a total take no nonsense sort of person.  I don't know if the whole zoom mess decided things, but we received everything we asked for.  The courtroom we were in is an ancillary building across the street from the main courthouse (to accomodate the growth and keep the beautiful old courthouse, something common -- even Houston kept its turn of the century courthouse for the courts of appeals but has four separate large towers for the criminal (20 floors), civil (17 floors), juvenile (7 floors)  and AG courts (7 floors, but only five in use due to fire marshall orders).  There is a large sign in bright letters stating that before entering a visitor must go across the street and have a covid temperature check, get a colored wrist band, and present it to the officer on duty before entering the building.  When I saw the sign, I started to walk across the street when the deputy at the metal detector said something like "Don't worry about that bullshit.  It's just the County Judge trying to show us who's boss.  No one is doing it."

This is a bit like crying over spilled milk, but one of things I've done in federal elections in the past is to look at the margin of victory in the various states and analyze how a few vote differences in a limited number of states could have swung the electoral college the other way.

I accidently ran across this article from the Washington Post from February 9 which took the same approach, but with the presidential, senate and congressional races.  Here is the link:  https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/02/09/republicans-came-within-90000-votes-controlling-all-washington/

In the analysis, the author suggests that Trump would have been President if 43,000 votes had turned up differently in the elections in Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin.  (The author acknowledges the shear size of the difference in the national popular vote).  This is similar to other elections.  It really is a much tighter contest when you use the electoral college to measure victory.

In the Senate, the author argues that while in the Georgia race Perdue lost to Osshoff by 55,000 votes in the runoff election, in the earlier election he actually lost by only 14,000 votes and the runoff would not have been necessary.  So 14,000 votes would have swung the majority rule in the Senate.

In the House, 32,000 votes would have flipped the results in five Congressional elections (Illinois’s 17th District, Iowa’s 3rd, New Jersey’s 7th, Texas’s 15th and Virginia’s 7th).  This would have given the Republicans the majority in the House.

This is one of those "woulda, coulda, shoulda" situations.   It didn't happen.  However, it does give you perspective on how  close the election really was.

Yes, Lance, that Isaiah 53 chapter is MARVELOUS, predicting Jesus 700-750 years before the birth AND going into detail about His life, even Crucifixion Day. PLUS it's written in the past tense!!! That one chapter shows God's timeless omniscience, omnipotence, etc. Hard to understand how more Jews weren't drawn to Christianity - I bet a lot more were than I'm aware of!

Do you believe President Bush is to blame for the twenty year war in Afghanistan?  Was he wrong to pursue Al Queda after the 9/11 travesty?  It seems like your cute cartoon (which I've seen in many other places) makes that argument.

Kurt, Lowell.

If you want to see some actual close races wher just a few votes cast fraudently look at the number of local races that are wone by less than 50 votes and every election there are ties and the winner is determined by a game of chance, toss of coin, draw of the cards or roll of the dice (per Texas constitution).

There have been number of voter fraud cases inDallas County.

Bob D.

Last week dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins mad a ASS of himself saying that Texas Childrens Hospital in Dallas was out of ICU Beds because of Covid and if a child needed and ICU he/she would have to wait until another child died.  Less than 10 children with Covid were in ICU and the number of beds for ICU is determined by the need.  He also made the inference that the only way a child left the ICU was in a "body bag"  and not getting well.  Quite stupid and alarming.

I think Tommy needs help with his psychosis with his anger about this site and also his 3 personalities, Tommy, Sue and Ron.  Maybe if he would stop "self medicating" and get real medicine prescribed by a MD.

It reminds me of and old commertial that rephrased to be "Is it real or weed"

Lance,

Here's my best memory of the posting of the annual. The first effort on the scanning of the annual was by Jean Ward. He posted it on his own website, and I linked to it on a website that preceded this website. For this website, Sandra Spieker Ringo and I scanned/re-scanned/formatted additional pages. I bought some software and Sandra incorporated the scans into the software and posted it on the site.
