Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Lance,

The antique rifle is a Schuetzen style used for competition.

Elaborately fitted stocks and beautifully finished rifles are hallmarks of Schuetzen rifles The shooting discipline known as Schuetzen came to America with German immigrants. Schuetzen has seen multiple eras of popularity in The United States and has maintained a very dedicated following. There are Schuetzen competitions going on today.  Growing up my dad had a 9mm schuetzen rifle from Germany circa 1860 that I learned to shoot black powder with.

Great story, David!

Sounds like your Mom and Dad brought you up much like

my folks did us. And your Mom retained her beauty throughout her life!

Like your parents, mine played that "ruse" over and over!- "If it's all right with your Mom it's all right with me." Or....."You need to ask your Dad, first."  (and I suspect many RHSers were brought up the same way)

My Mom was beautiful and tough all rolled into one!  I used to tell her, "Mom, how can you be so pretty and tough at the same time?" She would smile and say, " Well, if you live good it shows.....and you look good."
Having come from Great Britain in the North..,,,,daughter of a tough ship builder, it's easy to surmise where the

"tough" part came from!

Like your Mom, mine became ill from colon cancer and did not want treatment. The difference is she got her wish.....and died peacefully at home at 82.
I'll never forget her words to my older sister:  "Jan, I'll tell you. I've been through a lot of things in my life......but

this...... has got me."

Yes I thank God for my Mom and Dad and am grateful today, and think of them often.....

Steve,

Just to remind you, I still have the bottle of bubbly with your name on it.  It is either red or white.

Beware folks!  Beware of the term "The Great Reset."  You'll begin to hear it often now, with the new administration about to begin, since, with the mass destructiveness of the Covid pandemic, it has come to pass that "The Globalists" will have their way with unsuspecting citizens who are weary, not just in the US, but all over the world.

The World Economic Forum says, "There is an urgent need for global stakeholders to cooperate, in simultaneously managing the direct consequences of the pandemic crisis..... TO IMPROVE THE STATE OF THE WORLD, the World Economic Forum is starting, they claim, THE GREAT RESET initiative."

Hold on just one stinkin' minute!  To "improve the state of the world?"  By whose criteria?  "Improving the world would mean greater emphasis on personal responsiblity, conservative family values and a flock of chickens in every back yard," said one notable Republican lady.  "And to my progressive counterpart, she continued, 'improving the world' could mean universal basic income (we've heard THAT before, have we not?) communal child-raising and pulling everyone out of rural lands in an Agenda 30-style roundup."

Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of World Economic Forum, wrote a piece entitled, "Now Is The Time for a "Great Reset," in which he elaborates on what the Great Reset would entail: "To achieve better outcomes, the world must ACT JOINTLY AND SWIFTLY to revamp all aspects of our SOCIETIES and ECONOMIES, from education, to social contracts, and working conditions.  Every country from the United States, to CHINA, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to TECH, must be TRANSFORMED.  In short, we need a 'Great Reset' of CAPITALISM!!!!"

This whole scheme should be called "The Great Dystopian Reset!"

Do we see now why the cheating HAD to happen and SUCCEED?

Also note that George Soros is heavily involved in this master plan.  Wouldn't you just know it?

This could very well be the beginning or the realization of the '7th Empire,' foretold.

Here is a short prayer I copied down, as I thought it was very relevant: LORD,we need YOU!  Please sweep thorugh this nation and heal this land.  Restore our strength, renew our minds, and cast out anything that is not of YOU.  In YOUR SON, JESUS' name, we pray.  Amen.

Appreciate the offer but I don't drink.  I have a liver condition that won't allow that.  It seems I drank a lifetime of booze before 2004.  Not a drop since.  I won't even put on after shave with alcohol.  However, I will eat rum cake, bourbon pecan chocolate pie and champagne cake icing.  It looked like you had fun with Lance at the gun range.  I won't get around Lance when he is armed.  You never know what might set him off.

The bubbly I have with your name is non-alcohol fruit juice.

One is Sparkling Red Grape and the other is a Sparkling White Grape.

Has anyone heard of Antoli Bugorski?  He's well known now, especially in Russia, because he is the only man to ever STICK HIS HEAD inside of a Particle Accelerator: An atom smasher!  He is still alive today, although no one can figure out why.  He has baffled medical staff everywhere.  And he doesn't even have cancer yet, as they expected would develop in his body.

He stuck his head inside the accelerator because on 7-13-78, the darn contraption wasn't working correctly, so he decided to "check it out," and just as he did, suddenly it began working as usual.  He said he saw a flash of light, brighter than ten thousand suns,( but felt no pain) as the proton beam passed through the back of his head, the occipital and temporal lobes of his brain, the left middle ear, and out through his left nostril.  He received a dose of 200,000 to 300,000 roentgens.  Bugorski understood the severity of what had happened to him, but continued working on the malfunctioning equipment, and initially opted not to tell anyone what had happened.  The left side of his face swelled up beyond recognition (Get outta' here!) and over the next few days, the skin started to peel, revealing the path that the proton beam (moving at near the speed of light) had passed through parts of his face, his bone, and the brain tissue underneath.

As it was believed that he had received far in excess of a fatal dose of radiation, Bugorski was taken to a clinic in Moscow, where doctors could observe his expected demise.

However, Bugorski survived, completed his PhD, and continued working as a particle physicist.  He DOES get fatigued easily, and lost hearing in his left ear, except for tinnitus.  The left side of his face has some paralysis and he has occasional seizures, but takes medicine for that.  No one knows how it is that he is still among us, functioning rather well.

Janalu, in answer to your initial question, no.

Steve, just wanted to show that you're not the only one to visit Devil's Tower. It appears as though I lost my shoes there -- 2018. I think I need to work on the photo.

11/28/20 11:07 PM #19534

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

David,

Was there a plaque at Devil's Tower telling how they think it was formed?

Was there a shift between two plates, allowing that big piece to get shoved up?  Seems very unusual, at least to me.  Are there eagle's nests on top?   Have small planes landed on top?

11/29/20 05:00 AM #19535

Steve Keene

Janalu,

Yes there was.  It is an igneous rock magma column that rose up out of the earth like a volcanic vent at about the same time as the Rocky Mountains were formed.  That is why it appears to have columns that were rock flow streams as the magma reached the surface and cooled.

The top is too small to accomodate a runway, but I assume you could land a helicopter up there.

It is amazing to me how the two photos of Devil's Tower contrast the lifestyles of David and I.  It is a classic city boy versus country boy perspective.

Steve,

City boy??? Moi??? Ce né pas vrai! I was born in dusty Abilene and grew up in a small town -- Richardson, Texas, population 5,000 in 1955 when we moved there.

What gave you the idea that I am a city boy? No boots? No Wranglers? No callouses? Pale skin? Sunglasses attached around my neck by a lanyard?

(Oh, damn! I just spilled some brie onto my shirt. Hope it won't stain the silk.)

By the way, I actully bought a pair of Wranglers last week. They were marked "Regular Fit" but I had to take them back. After I tried them on at home, I decided that they the must actually been "Slim Fit" jeans that were mislabled. (That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.)

By the second way, Martha is a small town girl. She was born and grew up grew up in Bay City, which didn't hit 13,000 population until she was in college.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Bob D.,

What do you think of this election aftermath?

Do you have any idea of where AG Barr is, and why he is saying nothing at all, or why we have heard nothing about the Durham conclusion?

Why isn't the FBI doing anything about suspected fraud or the tampering of election equipment?  Are Democrat Progressives the only ones employed in management seats?

What do you think the American citizens will say when before long, we are forced to take our marching orders from, say, Brussels, or the UN, which desires to punish us for our prosperity, after our sovereignty becomes a diminishing farce, in their eyes?  Or when our Constitution begins to be altered?

What will Americans say, I wonder, when Communist China has top position of power in the world, and the US is rated as #5 or #6, since we will have lost so much inner strength and wealth?

Do I sound like a Gloomy Gus or Gustavia?  How can I envision a rosy future for this country?  I feel like my country has caved to false promises from mostly atheist or agnostic globalists, who want to eliminate religion along with our American customs and way of life.  They don't want interference from any God, but expect all citizens to bow with governmental obeyance instead.  I feel I owe an apology to our Founders for failing to stand strongly enough in the prevention of the deterioration of what we once were, as a nation.

Should we have any faith that the Georgia election will be a fair election?  I read today that even 30% of DEMOCRATS think there was hanky-panky going on during the past election.

Sorry to post this way guys, but I've been talking to my neighbors, and I can say that everyone around me is 'down in the dumps,' and frightened of the oncoming Progressive people.  Of course, Covid fatigue doesn't help matters, either.

When Jo Ann and I were in Yellowstone we were driving down the road when thei Bull bison decided to get up and close to me.  The second picture was taken with the bison touching my door.  Can you beat this?

David,

Bay City is just a suburb of greater Houston.  I bet that you can count on one hand the people in Abilene that enjoy a good Broadway Musical.  You can drive 50 miles south of Plano where you live now and no telling how far east, west and south without crossing a street that does not contain a concrete driveway.

I hate to inform you, but you have to get the regular Wranglers from the Western store and not the ones from Walmart which are made to Walmart specs.  Do not attempt to buy the relaxed fit.  When you get them on, there is enough room left in the ass for you and Martha both.  The best choice for me is the regular fit with a stretch band waist.  You can also get the Slim and Relaxed with the Stretch band waist.

Nice picture..  You are lucky.  I've seen a black mixed breed cow separated from her calf kick $2500.00 worth of damage on a new farm pickup in one kick.

What is the number one favored item everyone is wanting from Santa this year?

I know Steve is getting a new electric, super fancy Hummer pick-up, but it won't arrive for a while, so what else are you hoping for, Steve?  Would you like a new Stetson, or another grandson?

I really like the photo of you standing near Devil's Tower, with cattle grazing peacfully in the background, and you posed so westernly perfect with your arm resting on the fence!  That's a cool photo that I think a souvenir collector would like to take home to England or Japan or Denmark, as a great depiction of Western America.  You might want to sell those somewhere in the area.

I've been trying to figure out what I could get for my almost 6-year-old grandson, who already has everything, it seems!  He has a trampoline now, and a battery-operated jeep that he drives around the backyard, a cat, a bunch of lizards, spiders, and worms he likes to watch and examine, with his magnifying glass.  He likes to pick the cherry tomatoes off of their neighbor's tomato plants to pop in his mouth, unlike his Mom, who dislikes uncooked tomatoes, so I was thinking that maybe I could get him some various seeds to plant this spring, with some shovels, spades, watering can, etc., along with something goofy to clown around on.  I had some old- fashioned stilts when I was about 7 yrs., that my Dad made for me, and I remember the whole neighborhood would come over to try them out.  After a while, I asked my Dad for some higher ones, which were more challenging to master, so he 'fixed-up' some higher ones for me. (He spoiled us all!)  The neighborhood kids liked those too, and one mama called my Mom to ask where we had gotten them, since her son wanted some too!

Maybe a nice Louisville Slugger, ball, glove, and helmet too.  Now that's a good one, methinks!  That will work some 'spare tire' off of his Daddy, as well as preparing the young'un for first grade recess time!

Janalu,

Let me give you a good idea for a gift.  Get him a lego table and a box of lego pieces including some neat characters like spider man and some Star War characters.  My grandson sits and builds things every morning from houses to cars and it is like pulling teeth to get him to take a break for breakfast.

Sam Elliott could probably sell that picture and pose to the public, but I am not infamous enough.  It is kinda like my sitting on the camel in front of the pyramids picture.  Peter O'Toole can sell that pose, but not me.

Janalu (and others):

Perhaps I'm rationalizing why the political future won't be as dire as we tend to believe....

While we always fear that the other political party will take over the entire political process and completely change our society, this seldom comes to pass.  Each party starts with high hopes of making existential changes, but is soon bogged down by our clunky political system.  Trump had many goals, but was only able to achieve a limited number.  Likewise Obama, Bush, etc.  Some part of our system of politics always gets in the way and slows down "progress".

True, it will be easier to see this if the Republicans retain Senate control, but even if control is lost, there always seem to be coalitions which prevent wholesale changes from occurring.  And now the Supreme Court as well as all of the judges appointed by the Trump administration will likely result in executive actions being limited in scope and impact.

I hope this is how things work out.  We'll see changes brought about by the new Democratic government, but no where near the magnitude being discussed today.

Thoughts?

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Kurt,

You are, of course, correct, especially if we can secure the two senators in the January election.  I'm hoping we can elect both of them.  One of the reasons I wrote that post, was to illuminate the possibilities possible by our opposers.  I've wondered just how much citizens realize the depth of their goals, and how much our country could/would change with their leadership.  I think the Democrats' goals should be shouted from our rooftops as often as possible so that everyone 'GETS IT,' loudly and clearly, and I think that Obama is clearly behind most of their party's current goals, since Kamala Harris was being "groomed" and coached by her good buddy, Obama, for months before the Democrat primary began.  He had high ambitions for her, just as she did for herself, so it was surprising that she dropped out as early as she did.  I heard it was because her team mismanaged their money, but I'm not sure about that.  I thought it was very peculiar that she returned to the limelight all of a sudden as she did, knowing that she insulted Biden in a calculated manner, ( as Obama urged her to do, I think.....even though it was a slap-in-the-face to Biden, his pal, but was because Obama truly didn't think Biden was "fit" for the office owing to his declining health, as well as his personal bumbling proclivities)... on stage, at one of the primary debate discussions.  Biden was not happy about her accusations concerning his past record, so when she was brought back for consideration, (by Obama, naturally) I read that, at first, Biden balked.  But I'm sure that with Obama's manner of soothing ruffled feathers, and his cajoling nature with Biden as 'best buddies together,' Obama was able to bring the two together as "the Democrats' best hope," to beat Trump, and to push forward with the far leftist ideology that Kamala has, and shares, with Obama, Hillary, and the whole gang of Progressives.  Even Bernie agrees with a lot of it, but of course wants to go even farther over the cliff, in my opinion.

Even if they don't get the opportunity to go as far to the left as they desire, they are not going to stop their march, I'm convinced, so hopefully we can regain the presidency in 2024, if our citizens realize the deviousness of the Dems ambitions.  I sure hope so!  I'm thinking that Trey Gowdy would be a good candidate for 2024, or Josh Hawley, or even Tom Cotton possibly.  There are actually some really good folks I think would be great for Republican goals in our future.

Who would you like to see take the reins?

As many of you know, I work for Fossil in the building at Spring Valley and Central (southeast corner).

I recently was reminded that my "memory " of the original building at the site along Spring Valley was incorrect.  I thought it was a Gibson's discount store.  Instead, it was a different store.  Can anyone remember the name of the store?

Many thanks.

There are an unlimited number of meme's on facebook and twitter, as well as Tic Tok, texts, emails, and even sometimes phone calls coming from each policity party.  The socialist Democrats and the nazi Republicans

The come from unlimited number of sources.

I get both party's bulletins as such as I am in the Big I and play a log of country club golf, as well as having donated campaign contributsions (though very small) to several candidates.

Getting all these emails, texts, memes from all these sources tells me there is no one person in charge of sending out crap from either party.

Believing there is some kind of organized conspiracy to take over the world and dissolve the United States is immature, uneducated, and totally ill logical.

Everyone wants and demands their political position be to the forefront.
