Message Forum

Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

I am off to see a great duo of classical guitar players this evening at the Kimbel Piano Pavillion.  Should be a great evening to have a nice glass of wine and listen to splendid music in grand style!   More art and likely without religion....

Sandra:

Logged onto the other forum just long enough to check for something. Laughed reading your post.  Even though I don't see it  copied here, I could not return to work without  copying my response here:

Sandra:

You grossly underestimate yourself. Even as little girl your groundedness, common sense, kindness and humility were but a small fraction of that which still, makes you so lovable. You are the best.  :)

Sandra, I always loved Dali's Last Supper. The back lighting is amazing, including the light going through a wine glass. The last time I saw it, it was in a stairwell at the National Gallery.

Washington, DC is a fabulous place to visit, especially since so much is free!

Sue,

Did you text the message above?

It strikes me as unusual to see an executive secretary type a message with no punctuation.

Out of curiosity, is Chessur a male, orange tabby?

Janalu,

More interesting than that, the origin of the cat, in Charles Lutwidge Dogson's imagination,

Is the epic poem "Hunting for the Snark" which appropriately describes Sue's deception.

David,

I think that painting is still in the same location as it was when you saw it.  It was down a short flight of stairs in a wide hallway.  Yes, the illumination is breathtaking!  That museum is huge, we walked until we almost dropped that day and Danny took so many photos (which was equally amazing).  I was amazed they let us take photos (as long as no flash).  The only place we could not take photos was the National Archives, which I completely understand.  Yep, the free museums are the best, the food at the cafe's there, perhaps not so great and very expensive.  We ate at some of them because we were low on energy, and going elsewhere was too monumental a task to contemplate.  We had Smart Trip passes and plenty of credits on them, but walking to yet another Circulator stop, waiting was more than we wanted to do.   I now have a greater appreciation of that parody song by Weird Al:  Another one rides the bus!

P's and Q's and punctuation.....

Now you are suspect if you forget a period???  Wow.  I may have to do some searching to see who I should be wary of.  Even the best of us can have slip or two when it comes to commas, periods and spelling.  Late night postings especially.  I make the most mistakes when I use my phone or iPad to post a comment or two.  I have a question.....Is it time to lighten up a bit???

You have to remember in this day of "texting", spelling, gramer, punctuation and other writing has gone out the window.  It goes back to texting with phones that do not have a keyboard.  I can't get over my habit of trying to use proper english and grammer even though I am an engineer. I am just old fashion in that manner.  You only have to watch local or national news and you will see a lot of poor grammer.

Several years ago the new Chair of Journalism at SMU realized many students did not know proper grammar so he went to the English Department to find out about a course for his students and the department did not have any classes in grammer and did not want to offer one.  He created one in the Journalism Department and now about half of the students are English majors.

I'm not crazy about the idea of veering into the political realm on this site, but if you do, be sure to keep it on a friendly, non-sarcastic plane.

Well, David.  Can I say this?

If I was an investor in real estate or a developer or a leasing agent or a tenant seeking space in New York or New Jersey, I would not want to do business with Donald Trump.

That's business, not politics.

Lance you asked me the following:

Sandra,

Given the facts that:

  • your endorsed candidate (Beto) has withdrawn from the 2020 POTUS election

  • Texas remains a RED State despite some polls suggest otherwise

  • the leading DEMS candidates lack...

    • credible platforms,

    • supportable plans and budgets for proposed policies

    • evidence of continued lying and corruption at the root of the party in Congress

    • weak Leadership that if nominated...is ultimately unelectable

    • no "message" that rallies or resonates with the American voter.

Consequently,

what are your beliefs and convictions that compel you to pursue election (minority) campaigning?

Facts?  Your questions below are leading and your assumptions about the party platform and candidates is biased, therefore I will not answer those questions.   I will say this, working the polls (an election polling place on election day) is not campaigning, far from it.  It is what I do as a public service to ensure that our democracy is sound, and fair.  I consider it a duty as a citizen of this country I find it fullfilling and constructive.  Campaigning at a polling place is against the law.  I do not break the law.

Secondly,

David just made it quite clear that he would rather not discuss politics on this web site.  So I won't.

Responding to your question as to switching to a "concierge" medical service arrangment.  We have switched to Care N Care Choice Advantage plan.  Monthly premiums are $0.  Co pays, out of pocket $3900.  All our Dr. are in network except our dentist.

Sandra,

As per your statements in post #18062, I was questioning Sue not to admonish her (Yes, of course we all make little mistakes, and that includes me)  but rather I was, like others, just trying to get clues about Sue, and was curious about her actions.  That's all!

I don't admonish anyone, or at least, I try not to.  Sometimes I teasingly say things in jest, but I try to do so in a gentle way, as a jokester.  Humor is something I enjoy.  I hope you understand that.  I come from a teasing family, so I got started being like that as a youngster, and having three siblings, it became a constant among us.

There are some of our posters who believe that she is a fictitious character, and maybe she is, but I'm not giving up on "her" yet.  "She" intrigues me and challenges me.

Sue?  If you are truly a graduate of our class, will you give me a clue of some sort?  What was your favorite snack in the Eagle's Nest from those snack machines?

I guess that doesn't tell me much, does it.  I remember I once got a tuna sandwich from one of those machines, and it really wasn't too bad---just a little too much mayo.  I also liked to get apples, which were crisp & nice!

Sue, will you  come visit me here in Georgetown?  I'll gladly show you the town's square, which is pretty darn cute and quaint!  And I'll buy you lunch too!

So Bloomberg is entering the race?

I think Trump will have a real challenger now!

Lowell Tuttle

Janalu, do you think Trump will get his Party's nomination?

11/08/19 02:11 PM #17117

Lowell Tuttle

Russ, the Care and Care Plan looks like they use the term "concierge" in their package.  They have a person you can call to get information about where to go or what to do or who to see.

I think that there are now a lot more "advantage" plans available at ---0--- premium than there were in the past few years.  And, they have started covering less populated areas.  Of course their success will be dependent on numbers....large numbers...as Medicare reimburses the Advantage plans.  You don't get your coverage paid by Medicare, it gets paid to the advantage plan by medicare....and medicare even gives the advantage plan a monthly amount for each patient on their rolls.

The article I read about was an actual monthly fee you would pay to a primary care physician, say $250.00 a month.  That would be in addition to any medicare, medicare supplement, or if not 65 any insurance plan you might have.   The 250.00 gets you their personal attention, e mail contact, actual phone call availability and instant appointments and attention.  You get seen in 5 minutes and the visit is 30 minutes to and hour.  Also, in some services, lab work and tests are included (more fee monthly, I presume.)  You don't pay the doctor anything when you go.  Just the monthly fee.  Insurance also is not involved.

The key there is the Doctor's practice does not have to go thru insurance.  Cash in, services out.  No insurance red tape.

A typical concierge physician would have 400-600 patients paying a monthly fee instead of a practice of 4000-5000 patients.

It is something that is apparently coming in the medical marketplace.

Janalu,

I am sorry my comment seemed personal, please accept my apology.  I hope you solve the mystery that is Sue, and make friends with her too. Extending an olive branch of friendship, like you have, might be the best way to break whatever barrier is in the way to her secrecy.    Best of luck to both of you.

Don't go to Georgetown to meet Janalu.  It's a trap.

LOL

Sandra,

No apology necessary.  I was just explaining my attempt to understand Sue.  The Exec. Secretaries I have know are usually sticklers for punctuation, with capitalization and spelling too.

Sue may have been texting to this forum, if that is indeed possible, which I think it is.  I'm rather clueless to iphones, Androids, etc. because I think I am the only one in America who doesn't have one yet.  However, I may get one for Christmas---maybe.  I know, I know ....I'm pretty darn nutty and old fashioned!  Stubborn too!

Janalu,

My daughter has a dachsund that predicts elections in its sleep.  She asked him who was going to win in 2020.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Steve,

That dachshund is the cutest!  I love dachshunds!  And that one there is a smart little cookie too!

We had a miniature dachshund for 19 yrs., when I was a teenager.  His name was Max, and he was the funniest rascal, who loved to chase squirrels with a burning passion!  He wanted so much to catch one, but we're very glad he never did.

I'd like to get a long-haired dachsi one day.  I just may do that next spring, and surprise ol' Carlos!

Your photo shows that little one lying in the sun, just like our Max used to do all the time.  So sweet!

Janalu,

When my daughters were 12 years old, my very good friend who was an Arabian Horse Ranch Manager gave them matching miniature dachsunds from the same litter in Midlothian.  They had those dogs all the while they were growing up and Madison's dog, Prince died at 14 years of age in her last year of college.  Makenzie's dog, Frankie is still alive at 17 and can't hear well or see well but he still goes on a walk around the neighborhood with her when she gets home from work.  She has three other dachsunds that he tries to outdo:  Elvis, Sammy and Presley.  Dachsunds are the best.  I had one when I was kid, named Dutch Schulz because he was such a low character.  Dutch was a regular size dachsund and he hated my Dad.  Dad was always trying to get him out from under the bed with a broom.

Sue,

Do you have a rottweiller?

Jan,

Somebody told me that dachsunds were bred to kill rats and ground squirrels.  I guess they could be trained as retrievers for guys that shoot prairie dogs.

Yes Lance,

I agree that you are an ENTJ.

As Martha Stewart would say, "And that's a good thing!"
