Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

My condolences for the death of Wedgie, David.  I can relate to how painful it can be when you lose such a faithful member of the family.  Like many of us, I've had far too many faithful four-legged family members die through the years and it never gets any easier.  Our current four-legged family member is named Snookie and she was Mom's dog until her death in October of 2009.  Don't even want to think of how painful it'll be when Snookie shuffles-off this mortal coil.

On another note regarding teachers from HighSchool, I have very good memories of Ruth Gray Speech class, Carolyn Doyle's Drama classes, Allee Gaydon's English class, as well as the following coaches:  Spangler, Hough and Quisenberry.  Martha Ginn's English classes in 9th and 10th grades introduced me to Shakespeare created an interest in literature that still burns fairly brightly.  Some good times were had in those classes, for certain.

Hull and David,

I SO remember the song!  I could still sing it if you just got the verse started!  We all had song sheets to join along.  That was a VERY FUN CLASS!

As long as we're talking about favorite teachers, mine were Mrs. Alsup and  Mrs. Snyder, in alphabetical order! Here is a photo of Mrs. Snyder at church this morning. I am, of course, too gentlemanly to say how old she is, but I will say that she turned 30 when we were in tenth grade. Looks pretty damn good to me! I attended her retirement party at the Northwood Club a few years ago. Very, very nice!

To Don Chester:

Like you, I cannot name any teachers from high school, even though I have very fond memories of high school.  Well, there was  "Madame Horner" my French teacher, but I remember her because I had her for a few years.  And the only other teacher I recall, very fondly, was Bobby Fleming's mom at Abrams Jr High.

I do remember, however, that you and I were in a class together.  I don't know which one, but I can clearly hear the roll call.  "Mister Chester."  What a random memory, huh?

And then, years later, when I was a Labor & Delivery nurse at Parkland, I ran into you.  You were either a senior med student or maybe an intern, doing an L&D rotation.  I married an Ob/Gyn doc the summer he finished his residency in 1977 ( it didn't take), and we moved to Colorado.   I betcha you are an outstanding doc; I know you had the best training in the country.  Good luck with your move. It's grueling, but as you said, a great opportunity to lighten your load.

Hi Sherri

I remember you from L&D at Parkland.  What intense and stressful times those were.

Being married to a physician is very difficult and most have one or two failed marriages before they get it right.  I finally got it right and my wife is truly the best person I know .

who was it you married perhaps I knew him.

how are you  now?

Sounds like you might have been looking at John Hagee's book Four Blood Moons. Fascinating stuff...

Had the pleasure of seeing God's Not Dead over the weekend. Good movie for our 14 year old.

Hi Don:

I married Bob Hahn.

The guys in our residency group were Stan Shoemaker,  Bernie Rothschild,  Noble Doss, Mike Kudla, Ali Toofanian, Bill Miller, Ivan Rovner, Ted Fogwell. I think Ivan and Ali and Ted are still practicing in Dallas.

I am so glad you are happily married. Perhaps one bad one was enough for me, so I remain single. I have two fabulous children so life is good.

Hope to see you at the reunion, and to meet your wonderful wife.

Sherri  ,

Sorry to hear about youand Bob, he  and I always got along well

Marriage and medicine have a poor track record, it took me a couple times  and a lot of maturity  to get it right.

That was a good group of residents and they  were a couple of yrs ahead of me,but good guys.

I hope all is well with you and hope to see you this fall

Sandra Spieker (Ringo)

I have received a few emails since yesterday regarding why the web site was down.  This is an attempt to answer the questions.

This web site was down last night, unbeknowst to me, since I fell asleep early, I had a busy day yesterday.  I only found out this morning, when I checked my emails.  There are a few of you out there who are night owls and access this site after 10 pm, a time I am usually passed out, since my usual time to wake up is around 4 a.m.  Last night's failure to provide you with access was due to a Denial of Service Attack.  It is what the name implies, an attack, done by who knows to stop all of the users of all of the web sites hosted by Class Creator to be unable to use the web site.  This kind of attack is done in many ways, which, if you are curious, you can check out this link on Wikipedia and find out more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

This web site will also go down for maintenance from time to time too.  That happened a couple of days ago, as memory serves.  Usually it is only down for a hour or less, so if that happens, you will get a message letting you know when you try to access a page.  The people who created the engine that drives this web site, allowing us to post messages, send emails to each other, post your own content etc., have created quite a program, which is like a mini social network.  That takes a lot of money, time and effort.  None of which I am responsible for.  I am only a user like you who helped David with adding the content.  I would like to get that part straight, because a lot of you think I will know immediately what is wrong should something happen to the site or a bug appears.  That is a nice compliment, which I appreciate, but I really don't have all of the answers.  I can test to see if there really is a bug, but not fix it, I can only report it to the developers.

I am an expert in web site development, (I have done web sites since the 90's) but on a completely different level.  I can create graphics, logos, and animations, I can also format an html page with pretty good precision.  I am real good an editing photos by joining them together to make panoramas.  I do that for my son business all the time.  Using special software and a great photographer, I can stitch multiple photos together to make one big one, that is one of my specialitiies.    Casading Style Sheets is about the only coding a really understand, and I can also do some limited Javascripting.

Please keep sending your emails to me regarding problems with this site, but be aware, that I won't always be able to fix the problem.  The real developers of this site are utilmately responsible to fix bug issues.  I will do my best to communicate those issues to them in a way that will motivate them to find the answers quickly and efficently.

Sandra,

Thanks for taking care of us on the website -

On a sad note, I found out yesterday a former RHS'r and dear friend of mine (and many of you) Wendal Edwards, passed away about 7 months ago. His daughter Ellie has resurrected his FB page and I found out that way. Wendal, Jimmy Sanders and I all had Mustangs and we did a lot together. Wendal had even dated my old childhood sweetheart Darlene WIse for quite a while. Darlene always smelled like Noxema - man I still love that smell smiley

God Rest Your Soul Wendal

Mark,

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.  It is so hard getting this kind of news, particularly when it is months or years after the fact.

I knew Jimmy Sanders too.  He took me out on my first ever date.  We were so young, one of his parents drove us (I can't remember which one).  It seems he took me to a dance, but I can't remember that either.  I wish I could recall the details.  Are you still in contact with Jimmy?  If so you should encourage him to join the site.  I remember him as a very nice shy kind of guy.

It had to have been his Dad. His Mom wasn't around. I lost track of him years ago.

On another subject, I talked to Bobby Schneider back a few years ago. He was a Line Man in the utilities business for years and is somewhere in Colorado. He and Mitchell and their family lived in our neighborhood off of Stulz Road. That neighborhood had been RHS until it became Lake Highlands in 1967 maybe.

We have lots of ol' school mates missing - too many

Not sure about most of these kids, but the top row includes two PhDs, a physician, and an attorney. And, no, it doesn't mean that tall people are smarter. Correlation does not necessarily imply causation!!

It is amazing that we are still in contact with so many of these folks after passage of 56 years. I saw Tommy Thomas last week and will see Steve Gardner tonight. (I thought an unlisted phone number would solve that problem, but apparently not!)

This is more of a new question rather than a response - but here goes....

Does anyone of you know of a lawyer who does pro bono or sliding scale divorce work and can practice in Sherman for a very poor minimum wage guy in my family (nephew) who's getting railroaded with the help of the bride's parents.

If I told you about his upbringing, you'd cry, so I'll keep that out of here. But when his grandmother died, we held back his portion until he was twenty five. Then, he used it to buy a house with that money. Now whe wants everything and sole custody of their child. This is all happening in Gunter, by the way, in a very poor run down area.

Any way, if anyone can get me in touch with such a hard to find person, let me know.....phone 214-755-2766. Once you do, this message, including my phone number will self destruct.

Contact the Fathers for Equal Rights in Dallas.  They provide a pro bono attorney for consultation one day each week and a secretary for preparing documents, as well as course to bring him up to speed on his rights.

These are great guys and it is free!

I stand corrected, they now charge to be a member of Fayhers for Equal rights and have service at 60 to 250 dollar levels.  They have attorneys six days a week.  Google Fatjers fpr Equal Rights for website and info.

It has been a while since I have been there and done that.

Marsha Brown (Johnson)

Good morning to all, I hope this day finds everyone well.  I was reading back over some of the comments about things that have occurred in the last few weeks. I loved getting up early to look at the first blood moon. I loved the picture that Tommy Thomas posted-awesome. Easter services were wonderful at our church-we had a dozen people that accepted Christ into their lives. Angels rejoiced!! I haven't seen the posts here for awhile and realized it was going to my spam box so that doesn't make me happy, happy, happy!!  I'm looking forward to our reunion in October, so we can do some reconnecting in person.  As far as teachers go, I remember Mr Quisenberry. I had him in 7th grade science?? Seems like but who knows-I don't remember a lot these days. The teacher that I'm STILL trying to find is Mr Don Davis. He was my math teacher and he was a coach also.  David Cordell said that he had seen him recently at another funeral but I'm not having any luck in locating him. If ANYONE out there, knows about him-let me know. I visited with a very sweet woman who was a Don Davis' wife but not my Don Davis. I hope to get to visit with him sometime and tell him how much I appreciated his teaching me math and teaching me respect also.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Dear David, Exciting to know our price tag will be cheaper. How did you all arrange that??  By the way fellow classmates. I had an exciting thing happen today and I have to share it with you all because it involves me and another of our classmates. In our family, we would call it a "Jesus deal" because of everything involved. My daughter and I had an opportunity to get together for lunch which is unusual. I had a text from Taco Delite in Plano, so we decided to go there for lunch. We had just set down, when another woman about my age sat right behind my daughter. I whispered to my daughter, "I KNOW that woman" which isn't uncommon for me because of being a nurse and working in pediatrics for all those years. It's usually an ex patient or someone like that. I got up, went and got napkins and came back and said, "Excuse me, is your name Pam?" "Yes" was her response, did you go to Richardson High School? "Yes" and I said, Pam McLaughlin, I'm Marsha Brown!!! It was so exciting to me that after all these years, we made a connection!!! We hugged, talked excitedly, and as we were leaving, found out we were parked next to each other. After swapping vital information-phone number, email, etc. we left. Thank You Lord for allowing me to make contact with another former classmate. It's been an awesome day for me!!! Have a blessed evening.
