Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

David, I have been watching The Gilded Age on HBO.   The alst two weeks portions of the shows involved a black male and female reporter for the New York city publication for blacks heading by train down to cover the opening of a resident dormitory in Alabama at Booker T Washington's Tuskegee College.   I don't know how valid the story was, but it was interesting.   Same production folks as Downton Abbey/

I think Brian Kilmeade is a very smart, hard working guy and an amiable gentleman!  I like his shows, of which there are quite a few.

Have you read his book about Andrew Jackson in New Orleans, or some of his others?

Lowell, I will check out The Gilded Age. You might need to check out the Texans. Ugly.

Janalu, I handed a note to Kilmeade, saying much of what you said. Someone asked a question about his path to Fox News. Early in his career, although he is from Long Island, he took a job in Los Angeles, but really struggled financially. Then he was offered a job back in New York. He moved back, only to find out that the guy who hired him had been fired, and the outfit was "moving in another direction" that didn't include him. In LA he did several years of stand-up. I'm not sure there is a quicker wit on television.

I haven't read his books. We'll start this one after we finish Brett Bair's book about G. Washington and the Constitution.

Watching my first version of A Christmas Carol of the year -- the 1951 version with Alistair Sim.

Enjoyed the Cowboys win.

Too bad about the Texans.

Not that anyone cares about the Texans, but they have been really doing well.   0-0 at halftime in that rain and then the second half.  The Jets got ahead 14-0.   Texans came back with a TD, but missed the Extra point (our kicker is hurt.)   The leading reciever, Tank Dell, went down last week, and Nico Collins, went down in the 2nd quarter this week.   Also, former Cowboy TE Dalton Schultz out.   When you take away the top three receivers from a QB who specializes in timed "no look" routes, it's tough.   Then, CJ gets concussed...

Maybe he can come back...but next is Tennessee, and they looked real tough last night against the Dolphins.

Every wild card hopeful in the AFC lost last weekend, so we are still "in it to win it."

At church Sunday Martha and I were sitting behind a couple with a cute little girl who was about four years old.  She was smiling and showing affection for her mother. We always wanted to have a daughter but were cursed, I mean, blessed with three boys. I could tell that Martha was a bit sad, even though she enjoyed seeing the little girl. I told Martha, "I know you always wanted a daughter. And, you know, it's the man's genes that determines the sex of the child, so it's really my fault. It reminds me of that famous song -- I only have Ys for you."

Yeah, it's a groaner, but is't the best I could do.

After Back-To-Back Losses, Chiefs Replace Taylor Swift With Selena Gomez

SPORTS·Dec 11, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

KANSAS CITY, MO — With back-to-back losses following last night's disappointing defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs have made a roster move, opting to swap out Taylor Swift for Selena Gomez.

"We just felt it was time to make a change," said Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid. "We still feel Taylor is a nice girl and she's a strong contributor, and we appreciate everything she's done to help the team, but this league is about results. We think it's time to get someone else in there to see what they can do. We're happy to have Selena."

After taking the league by storm and helping the defending Super Bowl champions get off to a strong start, Taylor Swift had been unable to maintain momentum for the team. "She's been such a huge part of the team this year," said quarterback Patrick Mahomes. "We're all disappointed with the way things have gone lately, but it's still sad to see her go. It's been great to have her on board, but at the same time, this is a business. When the team struggles, someone has to take the blame."

At publishing time, though Swift and her representatives were unavailable for comment, Selena Gomez released a statement addressing the situation. "I'm happy to join the team," Gomez said. "I'm willing to help out in any way I can. I know my role on the team, and I'm ready to achieve big things. I've already made sure TMZ is aware of where I'll be going out with Travis tonight."

Chuckle.

Mahomes is my QB and KC defense is my fantasy def.   Not going so good.

Did you see how the 700,000,000 for Ohtani was deferred?   He's only getting 2 million in salary and the rest is deferred some 10 years in the future.   Apparently, since that is future money, it makes the cap hit on the salary limit only 43 million instead of 68 million...or rather 45 million.

i guess that means we can count on inflation from now until 2043.

It is slightly amazing and mind boggling.   I wonder if we'll be here to see the end of the contract.   And, i wonder how much a 300/40/30 hitter with OPS of 1.000 plus will be making in 2043?

On the sports money note, I need to start an IRA for a ticket to a baseball game in 2043...

Wife asked her husband, "Why don't you treat me like you did before we got married?"

So, he took out for dinner and a movie and then dropped her off at her parents' house...

What kind of cat is that in the background?

Is this from the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, in which Sean Penn tries to photograph a snow leopard?

David C,

I don't know - some kind of leopard, I think. Got the pic from my nephew's Facebook.

That's a feline "lurker."

I don't know who stinks more; the offense, defense or refs!

Whatever the case, I think we "phoned in" a loss!

Jerry, David C,

Yes, from Micah Parsons's latest comments about the Boys' road performances, I believe that NOW, after almost 3 years, he's starting to realize the overall longterm effects of being in Jerryville, and they're not good, as we know....wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him move on when his rookie contract is up - notice the tenor of my remarks indicate I've already chalked this one up to another failure in the end; i.e., 28th consecutive year, I predict, without an NFC conference championship game appearance. Well, Tom Landry had 29 years until he met Jerry. Do you think this ACE GM will give himself a 29th AND 30th year after this year?
