Message Forum

Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Any thoughts on gambling proponents contributions to Texas Republican PAC's this past election campaign?

Any thoughts on Ken Paxton's defense strategy in his investment fraud indictment trials?  Shoud Texans be allowed to prosecute raspscallions of the law who just hire more and more expensive defense?  How are judges deemed fair when deciding venues involving political figures?  From what I gather, prosecution is getting only 100-200 a hour and defense gets 1000's of dollars an hour.

Bob, what's the status on this case?  Now in Plano.   Is it going to just fade away?

I have to have a license....You have to have a license...Paxton didn't have a license.  He admitted he didn't have a license.   Yet supposedly he acted out giving or selling investment advice outside the confines of his legal status.

Why or how is he continuing to be the Attorney General?

Are the charges groundless?

Any news from Plano courts?

Hold on. It just hit me.  Doesn’t matter whether forums are secure or not secure. There’s nothing complicated about being able to read either forum (or parts of the forum) without signing in. Among us are classmates curious, but not so curious that he/she would have any interest in being part of the forum.

No questions, asked, I understand and support them. I wish everyone had had at least half way decent memories of high school. But not everyone did. I’m thankful those who didn’t at least kept in touch (whether often or not so often) with an alum. As Emily Littela would say, (re my question) "never mind."

Lance, I deleted your post that had been between this post and my previous post. I suppose it was a foregone conclusion that you just wouldn't be able to let it go, but I thought I would risk it anyway. My mistake. In case you were unaware, lots of women are offended by that word, regardless of context.

Holly,

Class Creator hosts this website (and Tommy's). To answer your question (or statements) on security I have provided a link here.   This is a link to the Class Creator user forums where customers and administrators can go to ask questions and report issues.  This thread on the link I have provided will answer your question on security.  If we take payments on this website, those pages are secure. Other pages, such as this one are password protected, and provided you use (and others) proper protocols when choosing and protecting your passwords, that is somewhat secure. Bottom line is, if you don't want anything you say or post here seen, or used, don't post it.

Class Creator has written thousands of lines of code, spent countless hours as developers and designers to provide this "wiki" to create hundreds of websites like this for hundreds of high schools and colleges everywhere. It works pretty darn good for the price. We get to talk daily, share music, photos and our thoughts with relative ease and little hassle.  Not only that it works with your phone, iPad, laptop or desktop. It works with numerous operating systems and it it affordable. It also is customizable. Amazing.   However, it is not Citibank or Chase. Not all pages are secure. It won't bite or steal anything. I feel pretty good about it.

If anyone finds a better wiki, tells us all about it. If it as cheap, functional and easy to use, I will alert the media!  I quit looking a few years ago, when I gave up being a professional website developer. It seems I got too old to continually learn new languages, continually buy new versions of expensive software and hardware, and just plain got tired of the whole damned business.

For thirty years our business was just like that, continually changing. You had to adapt to survive.  The folks who resist change like the small group who lost their jobs on Keystone will either have to adapt to a new world of change or go extinct and retire.

As for Biden and his executive orders. Thank heaven for those changes!  Adapt. Change is good!

Sandra,

Got it. Well said. All this time couldn't figure it out then out of the blue it hit me.  I agree, change is both necessary and good or the whole world would remain stagnant.

You guys put in an enormous amount of work on both forums benefitting so many people, apparently beyond the forum too.  Long ago I should have thanked each of you over and over.  Be proud of yourselves. In a thousand lifetimes I couldn't figure out that which is intuitive to you  guys. Love you, Sandra. heart

Lowell,

I am pretty sure all the Indian (Indigenous Peoples) PAC money from casinos went to Democrats this year.  You know, the ones that sit home and get drunk and think of themselves as victims and collect a government check each month.  These are the ones that could drive 50 miles and get an oilfield job making $100,000 a year like many hispanics have done.

Steve,

Nine in ten, or 91% of the riots in the United States were linked to the Black Lives Matter ( the organization formed by two women who despise the US.  One of the women was Opal Tometi.)   That is according to a recent study.

The U.S. experienced 637 riots between May 26th and Sept.12th of 2020, and 91% of those riots were linked to the Black Lives Matter movement, according to the U.S. Crisis Monitor, a joint project at Princeton University.  Forty-nine states, not counting Washinton D.C., experienced riots during that time period.  California led the nation with 86 riots during that time.  Oregon came next with 79 riots.

Black Lives Matter, a violent Marxist (aka Communist) movement that hates law enforcement, was just nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.  The funding for BLM is tied to dark money and most of it comes from George Soros.

Who keeps saying that George Soros is a good guy who is just misunderstood?

01/31/21 01:49 AM #20202

Steve Keene

Janalu,

And isn't strange that Progressive governors of any of those states would not call in National Guard troops to prevent any of those riots which cost many middle class businesses their livelyhoods, but 200 revelers in Washington, D.C. break into the Capitol and the Democrats need 25,000 National Guardsman with machine guns and bunkers and  razor wire fence to protect themselves?  Now they want to keep them there for four months as their own private security.  Suddenly they have decided that every elected official that supported Trump and all 84 million voters who voted for Trump are just White Supremacists.  I don't think hispanics like Ted Cruz and blacks like Walter Williams and Herschel Walker would self identify as White Supremacists, do you?

Lowell,

Sorry for the belated response to your Ken Paxton questions.  I have been giving out investment advice on this forum to my friends without a license.  Do I need to go to jail, too?

Steve,

I just finished watching a movie on YouTube.  It was called  AGENDA 2: Masters of Deceit

It was produced by Curtis Bowers, a civilian, who won a major money award for his movie, and its message is EXCELLENT for telling all  AMERICANS of what is happening to our country currently.  IT IS A MUST SEE, and can be found easily on YouTube.  Just look it up as I did, and watch it for a little over an hour.  It will be well worth the time for every American citizen.  It is a VERY important film to see, to understand what our country is up against at this time, and explains SO MUCH of what fears we are having just now.  It's mainly about the Socialism/ Leftist bent that has taken over the Democrat Party, and what we have in store for us, as our country is NOW HEADED down a completely different path than we intended to go down. It is about how we are in extreme danger RIGHT NOW concerning the fate of our America.  It is SO IMPORTANT for everyone to watch, no matter which political party you are in.  I can't express how AMAZINGLY WELL DOCUMENTED and EXPLAINED all of the subject matter is, in this film!

PLEASE everyone of our fellow classmates!  Take a little time and see this film/documentary!!!!  There are SO many factual history notes within this film, many of which you will instantly recognize and understand, as to what this movie producer is telling all of our citizens.  It's startling and mind-bogglingly TRUE, as you will see!!!!

It is unbelieveably important for you and your family to know about ALL OF THESE FACTS!!

YOU WILL NOT REGRET WATCHING ALL OF THE INFORMATION INCLUDED WITHIN ITS MESSAGE!!!!!

After you watch this film, please post here with what you think of it!

I know I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight with so many things on my mind now.......

Good song Lowell!
A couple ot years ago Ellen and I were returning from Houston, and saw a guy shuffling around a basket near the baggage claim. I saw an expensive guitars' strap fall over the side and down toward the back wheel. (could see it about to catch) Just as Ellen whispered, " It's Billy Gibbons!"

I ran quickly saying " Billy you're about to lose your guitar." So I stopped the basket as the strap had made one turn! I heard the raspy. deep voice say, "Well thank you"  I kept expecting a "e haw haw haw haw!"With that he

tucked the strap inside. Then a group of folks exiting a limo came running inside to escort him out.

Course it wasn't like he was trying to hide much; with the weaved cap, trademark shades and of course the guitar! 😉

Steve, big difference...you do it for free and, well, he admitted doing for commisions without a license.  And, he was an attorney running for the top position of Texas' justice system.

01/31/21 01:38 PM #20208

Bob Fleming

Steve,

The difference between you and Ken Paxton is that - on our Forum - everybody knew better than to give you a single damn cent of their had-earned money to invest.  Not to mention the fact that we all knew that NO investment firm on earth would deign to hire you.  NOR were you foolish enough to represent yourself as an licensed investment adviser.

Alas, neither of these three things was true for  Paxton.  Thus the indictment.

01/31/21 04:45 PM #20209

Bob Fleming

And further Steve, it is a very dangerous thing - I think - to ask the members of this Forum whether or not you should "go to jail."  The vote would be a very near thing and might not reflect in your favor.

You should be glad that such a thing is not possible.  And now that I think about it, so should I and not a just a few other people in the RHS Class of 1969.

01/31/21 06:38 PM #20210

David Cordell

Don't worry, Steve. We Republicans know that you've done nothing wrong, so we wouldn't send you to jail. Of course, the Democrats don't care whether you've anything wrong or not. It's a matter of whether they like you or not. Good news: they like you, so no jail for you.

Wait a minute. I forgot. You voted for Trump. So you are a racist, homophobe, mysogonist, and xenophobe. You don't need to worry about jail. It's a capital offense. Not for being one of those types of people, but merely for being accused, even without evidence.

Elections matter.

David, Bob and Hull,

Two Democrat daughters took me to lunch for my birthday today at Prego's Pasta House.  I would not risk it for you but for time with my daughters I went out to lunch.  Tony Barraco was there and Joey is back working there every day but Monday and Thursday on the night shift.

I haven't updated you guys lately on my progress with my 42 year old "girlfriend."  I think the following song sums it all up.........

Bob,

I hear what you are saying about my dumb investment advice, but I gave everyone on this forum plenty of time to get ahead of the next craze of the reddit bunch buying silver stocks and even giving you the name of the stock AG to invest in.  Read em and weep boys when my ship comes in and no one would take the plunge with me.  My portfolio of silver stocks is up at least 25% in one day and AG is up close to 40%.  I am fixing to have a lot more dry powder for the crash that will happen in February or March.  It didn't take Biden long to take away eveyone's confidence..  You can't give away that many jobs, rejoin the Paris accords which punish us while rewarding the rest of the world, give the Chinese a blank check and authorize Iran to begin building nukes again without there being repercussions.  But, I know how much trouble it must be to call your investment advisor and say buy me some AG stock for my 401k.  Go ahead and stick to the churn and burn your capital guys while making you 3 or 4% a year.

Lowell,

I am not an attorney, but I often play one on the forums.

Steve,

You must have left me out of the loop about the 42-year-old. Martha and I just celebrated our 47th anniversary. Just sayin'. Although, if the question were, "Why would a 70-year-old date a 42-year-old," the answer would be, "Because he can." Usually, there's a big bank account involved.

Martha's niece married a man who is 25 years younger. Now that's an oddity.

About silver and shorting, IMHO you are talking about speculation rather than investing. As with most oil men, you have a strong streak of speculation within. So did the hedge fund managers that just took it in the ... well, you know. Win big. Lose big. As I have said before, I am more concerned about the return OF my money than the return ON my money.

Meanwhile, all the wild action in the market is wreaking havoc on my portfolio because the short-sellers are selling other stock to cover their shorts.

The best explanation of why the progressives are so nasty after they took over the country:

"Self-righteous progressives believe they put up with and suffer on behalf of us—and thus their irrational fury and hate for the irredeemables and conservative minorities spring from being utterly unappreciated by clueless serfs who should properly worship their betters."  Victor Davis Hanson.

Hanson is one of my favorite writers, both on contemporary culture and politics and military history.

Bod D and others.

I just got a E-mail about how now Argentina is now having Jury Trials in both criminal and civil. They now join the US and Canada to allow civil jury trials

News from the Civil Jury Project

Civil Jury Trials Become a Reality in Argentina

Our June 2020 newsletter contained the piece, The Dawn of the Civil Jury Trial in Argentina, by Professors Andrés Harfuch and Juan Sebastián Lloret. Their article outlined the efforts by the Institute of Comparative Studies in Criminal and Social Sciences (INECIP) and the Argentine Association of Trial by Jury (AAJJ) to implement jury trials in criminal cases first, and their continued efforts to apply the jury system to certain civil cases.

Professor Harfuch has been kind to keep us informed of the progress and in September let us know that the Governor Jorge Capitanich of Chaco sent to the Legislature a Bill that would establish trial by jury for civil matters.

The Bill proposed a civil jury of twelve members, presided over by a judge who would instruct on the law and would require a general unanimous verdict. A special verdict in certain cases was also allowed. All jury trials would be oral and public trials. Hearings would be provided for both discovery and case management. A jury trial would be available for class actions, consumer rights collective disputes, tort cases of over half a million pesos, collective environmental and land disputes and any dispute involving the freedom of speech, belief or press.

The Bill also provided some built-in demographic provisions. It set a mandatory gender equality requirement of 6 women and 6 men and provided for an indigenous jury: if the plaintiff and the defendant belong to the Wichí, Moqoit or Qom Indigenous Peoples, the twelve jurors would be of that ethnic group.

We are thrilled to report that on December 16, 2020, the Bill was passed. I hesitate to try and capture the compelling story surrounding its passage, so please read about it here. It is spellbinding and a testament to those who secured its passage.

“It really helped that our 5-year experience with criminal juries in many important provinces was a complete success,” says Professor Harfuch. “We now face the challenge of crafting proper instructions, verdict forms and teaching adversarial litigation techniques to lawyers and judges who do not know what a public hearing is.”

We at the Civil Jury Project applaud Professor Harfuch and all those in Argentina who valued citizen involvement in making such crucial decisions as a jury of twelve.
