In Memoriam

Melanie Moon

Melanie was my sister and my best friend.  We lived close to one another, saw each other often, and even worked together occasionally as we were both Flight Attendants for Braniff Airlines. She was a loyal daughter, sister, and friend.  Melanie was spunky, vivacious, energetic and fun!  She had a huge heart and was very giving.  Our family has never recovered from the loss of her warmth and bright light.  It felt as if 10 people were missing at our family gatherings for years following her death.  We were only able to experience joy again during the holidays as my brothers, sister and I started having children of our own.  Thank you RHS 1969 for this memorial page honoring our memory of her.

Melanie, you are loved and missed every day!  I can't wait to see you again in Heaven!!

I am so thankful for my friendship with Melanie. She was sensitive, caring but also wild and funny. I miss her and remember her often. A tragic loss, we were robbed.

As soon as Melanie moved across the street from my house on Northill, we were pretty much inseparable. Both of our parents knew if we weren't in our beds, that we were at the other house.  A very different time indeed!  Melanie and I did stupid things like smoking in front of her bathroom mirror and laughing at each other.  We would meet up after dates and eat tamales and chips.  I loved Melanie dearly and think about her all the time.  We had so much fun together and I have so many great memories of Melanie and her family.  She is deeply missed.

I never go back to Richardson without thinking of Melanie. She was so much fun to be around. Her Father, George, came to my mother's funeral several years ago and Mel was also buried in Restland. We often said "My name is Linda and I've got bread in my mouth." Then we would laugh until we cried. All she ever wanted was to have her own family since her mother, Mildred, was supermom with 4 kids. She wrote me a letter before she died and assured me she had become a believer in Christ. That has since given me peace and the knowledge we will laugh once again!.

I thought Melanie was very pretty and a sweet soul. Sad to hear of her passing

I saw Melanie for the last time in 1971 in Switzerland of all places. She was on a bus with me going to France, if I remember correctly. Of all things -- seeing Melanie Moon in Switzerland on a bus. What are the chances of that happening? Unfortunately, she was miserable to the point of dispair. She couldn't even sit up straight she was sobbing so uncontrollably. Because it's been 52 years since that encounter, I can't remember exaclty what was troubling her. I think she was homesick. I don't think she was real keen on Europeans. And she had a boyfriend and missed him, if I remember correctly. It seemed like every time I saw her back home, she was troubled by something. My mother was 103 when she died. As I get older, I can now understand why she was looking foward to death. She had about played it out here and was ready for something different. Melanie, as young as she was, might have been thinking the same thing.
