I remember Boon as a very nice guy. We traveled with pretty much the same group in Junior High, but as usual people spread out afterwards. Fond Memories of his kindess. Ran into him at a dance club so many years ago. It was good to see his lovely smile. He seemed to be a real gentleman. My heart goes out to Nancy and Boon's family/friends. It's interesting how you remember some people from long ago and not others. Boon will always be remembered kindly.

First met Boon in the 6th grade at, I believe, Northrich Elem. I'll always remember the many adventures we had. Junior High at Abrams, football, then HS, YMCA camping trips, a sking trip, in college, to Estes Park CO, then after college, sailboat rides with our girlfriends (Boon's girlfriend was, of course, Nancy).  We were in a rock band for a while - Boon on guitar and vocals - (I was the drummer of sorts) with Mac Rogers, Barry Caranan etc. - The "Merseymen", what a HOOT.  After college we were aptartment roomates for a year or so (stories from that time are probably beter left untold :-).  We still did an occasional lunch up until around 3-4 yrs ago.  Everybody liked Boon; always open and friendly.  When I think of my school years and good friends, I always think of Boon.  Great guy and best friend.  I'll miss you ol buddy.

I've had a hard time trying to come up with something to say without writing a lengthy biography. Because it just is not Boon, but the entire Richards' family that I came to love as my extended family growing up in Richardson. Boon and I played a charity event at the Downtown YMCA during Christmas break our senior year with Mike Marks as a side kick. Boon and I loved the guitar and the music it brought to our lives. It is a special bond like Dave Woodul knows so well with Boon. I met Boon and Jean's older sister, Randi through Boon. That music relationship lasted for years right up to the time of Randi's passing. My connection to the Richardson YMCA was from Boon and the Richards family, especially his mom who got me a job as a day camp counselor and guitar instructor. After high school I bought my first life insurance policy from Boon and I still to this very day have the little blue lock box about the size of a shoebox he gave me from his company with my policy inside. I feel as if I am rambling and I am. I am just at a loss of words. We emailed each other a few times over the last few years, especially about my farm in Montalba, TX. Boon, I miss you brother and you and your family have meant so much to me. I am one that normally is concise with my thoughts on paper. Your loss and Randi's are more than I can process in words. My thoughts are as scattered as a volcanic eruption. RIP my friend!

Boon and I had a great time in Tyler at Tyler Junior College.  I was hanging out with Boon and  the ATO's so much that the pledges thought I was an active.  Pledges would do their silly salutes, songs, or dances when they would see me on campus.  Boon thought it was hilarious.  He was always trying to get me to pledge and I told him no thank you. I told him why would I do that when everybody thinks that I'm an active already.  I go to all the social gatherings and get to hang out at the ATO house   Boon was a class act  and a good friend.  RIP Boon
