The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

NYPD Implements Controversial 'Stop And Forcibly Vaccinate' Policy

December 7th, 2021 - BabylonBee.com

NEW YORK, NY—New Yorkers are having mixed feelings about the NYPD's new stop-and-forcibly-vaccinate policy. The controversial policy would be the first in the nation to allow police officers to inject the COVID-19 vaccine into any motorist or pedestrian they choose to profile based on their appearance.

“Some people say it infringes on their right to decide whether to inject a substance into their own bodies,” said NYPD’s Chief of Police while demonstrating how to retrofit syringes onto standard-issue tasers. “But then again, others believe unvaccinated New Yorkers are like leprous zombies who explode on contact. This policy is meant to reduce the number of leprous zombie explosions during Broadway shows, I guess.”

Mayor Bill De Blasio took some time away from watching a SWAT unit use a Gatling gun to pepper a passing school bus with hundreds of syringes, and explained the importance of this new policy.

“You see, the Omnomicromicon variant is the most dangerous variant in the known universe; it vaporizes its victims on contact, and spreads virally through our thoughts and feelings, according to MSNBC. The only way to stop it is through a powerful, unstoppable, totalitarian police state!”

When reminded that such a policy would end up targeting black and minority communities most, the mayor replied, “Who cares? They’ll still vote me in as governor next year!”

Watching "I Love Lucy" in the '50s and 60s........

No "f" words?  How could that have happened?

I couldn't listen to "The Sopranos" for more than two minutes because of the "f" word in every other sentence.  Charles thought the show was funny, but I thought it was lousy, so I watched TV in the other room.

Remember: "A horse is a horse of course, of course,

And no one can talk to a horse, of course

That is, of course, unless the horse

Is the famous Mr. Ed."

A show you could watch with your grandmother in the room, and not be embarrassed.  The humor was a little juvenile, of course, but that was common and acceptable back then.  It allowed for some folks to browse the newspaper at the same time, but still get a few laughs out during the half hour, then shuffle the kids off to the bathtub for a day's-end scrub before bedtime.  Now THOSE were the days, eh folks?  No serious worries back then, right?

HA!  No serious worries except for the Ruskies and Fidel, with his scheme to plant some rockets around his kingdom, aimed toward the north.......and the Chinese still had not stolen our technology secrets at that point, leaving them to try to find ways of feeding their burgeoning millions of mouths with enough rice to keep them from complaining aloud in the streets, having to go out and shoot them to quell the noise........

Reality Check:  Vaccine Mandates Work!  And The Supreme Court Won't Block NY Vaccine Mandate!

What a shame.  The RHS School Board is going throw a perfectly good Superintendent under the bus tonight.  Very sad.

Beto Surges To The Lead For Governor Of Texas In Poll Of Californians

December 10th, 2021 - BabylonBee.com

CALIFORNIA—Beto O'Rourke has surged to the front of the Texas gubernatorial race according to a recent poll of Californians.

O'Rourke is polling at the front of the pack, being an incredibly popular candidate to become governor of Texas. Not, of course, among people who live in Texas, but he's very well liked in California. While he'd be at the back of the pack in Texas, over 60% of Californians say they would vote for him as governor of Texas if they lived in Texas.

"This is great news for Beto," said one CNN anchor. "I mean, it would be. If he were running for governor of California. He's not. He's running for governor of Texas. So. You know. It doesn't really help him there. But it must make him feel really good."

"So there's that."

At publishing time, Democrats had proposed allowing Californians to vote in Texas, a proposal that was wildly popular in California, but sadly, not in Texas, where the proposal will be voted on.

Someone needs to post Beto's rap sheet.  He's been wrangling in court numerous times, with our pesky laws interrupting his "fun nights at large," so that his wealthy wife has had to fork over mucho dinero to have charges against him swept under the rug, to be able to tell the kiddos at the dinner table that "Daddy's okay and will be home soon!"  I guess Chucky Schumer is goosing him with Dem Party fungible bucks to hoist him back in the spotlight of the mainstream media outlets.  Beto is the candidate that always bounces back, never understanding that "Hey!  We think you are full of baloney, but a good thespian candidate, with a Kennedy grin, and windblown hair, a la JFK."

Hey!

Sequined fanny packs are half-priced on JC Penny's sale aisle!  Some are glittery rainbow-striped, so go get a couple for your favorite interior-decorator-guy friend.  Useable gifts are the best gifts to receive, ya' know.  And bright colors add so much to a specially coordinated ensemble, with maybe a feather boa to boot and some Jimmy Choo stilettos to finish the whole shazam-er-eeni........!!   OO la la!  Work it honey~~  ( is afternoon drinking addictive?)

You lost me with that last paragraph, Janalu.

Meanwhile, I urge everyone to watch a good version of A Christmas Carol, and then to watch The Man Who Invented Christmas. The latter is very clever and a must-see for Christmas Carol lovers. It is available for streaming from several services for $3.99. It stars Dan Stevens and Christopher Plummer, who was fabulous as an imaginary Scrooge.

Martha is going to start reading A Christmas Carol aloud to me as a bedtime story tonight. (Insert mean-spirited put-down here.) First, we're going to our church to hear/see a couple of piano trios by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky -- piano, violin, and cello. Should be enjoyable.

David,

Have you not watched on HBO, "We're Here!"

The queens are lovely, sassy and hysterical!

It's a must watch......at least once!    And once is probably enough.....

One might say it's Mother Nature's gift of 'Bring In The Clowns!'

Steve Keene

Janalu, Sandra, Hollis and Jan,

I am exceedingly blessed and thankful this week.  Sunday evening we all went and looked at Christmas lights at the Twelve Days of Christmas on Moss Farm in Lake Highlands and in the Highland Park area.  We ended the evening with a trip to Richardson to the Villages just South of Arapaho where the City has gone all out to create a Christmas pageant.  They are open at the City Municipal Complex and have a carolling choir and man made snowflakes descending from the trees.  The police and fire departments and many local businesses have exhibits.  The fire department let my grandson dress up like a fireman and he got a fire chiefs badge,  The police department gave him a badge and I explained which side of the bars it is best to stay on.  The credit union declined to give my grandson the credit card he asked for, but they did give him two gold chocolate coins.  They also have Santa and a TV Station set up called KELF where elves interview the kids asking what they want on live tv.  We were surprised by  some of my grandson's answers, so it is back to the store.

I know ya'll are tired of looking at my daughters so here is a shot of me, my son, and my grandson and the girl's husbands.

Here is a gingerbread boy:

They also have a petting zoo.  When I took my grandson to see it, I realized they had contracted it from my friend from Cowboy Church in Waxahachie, Paul Robinson.  He and I were lay pastors together.  He has two complete petting zoos that stay contracted much of the year.  Here is a picture of my grandson Marcus petting a pony and a miniature donkey.  They have cows, sheep, goats and two llamas with Christmas bells hanging from their necks,  or "llama llama ding dong" as I like to call them.

The pageant is open 6 to 9 Thursday thru Sunday during the Christmas season.  I highly recommend it to entertain the kids and it was not too crowded on Sunday.

As if this outing wasn't blessing enough, my daughter Madison told me she was 7 weeks pregnant, which is what I asked her for Christmas.

Steve:

First Methodist purchased the land just south of the City Hall and library some years before they had the money to build their new campus; however, for several years they staged a live nativity scene on the property, the field where we  played as kids.  My mom and I would walk over and enjoyed the scene complete with a camel and other animals.

Glad y'all had a good time!  Merry Christmas, dear Steve.

Steve, Nice to read something on here that isn't about politics or not liking /hating leftists... etc....

Here is a camel escaping from a Nativity scene in Kansas...

Steve,

Do you remember where the Allen Case store was.  All I can remember is it was North of Beltline.

Steve,

What a great evening for you all!  Very handsome guys and young-un!

I love petting zoos still!  I go in with my grandson and tell the handlers he needs to have a grown-up with him, since he gets a little nervous sometimes, but he really doesn't.  I just like the babies too!

Glad to hear that Richardson is having a Christmas event like that, in spite of negativity about those displays from so many others who don't agree with them.

Which one of the young men is your son?  Is he the one who used to live on Whidbey Island?  Did he not like it there?

So great to hear that a new wee one is on the way!  You'll love all of that grandbaby stuff....

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Steve,

Nice photo of you, your grandson, son and son in-laws.  There are times I wish I was closer to Richardson and the Dallas area, for the culture, shopping, eating, etc.  Looks like you had a grand time.

I spent today taking my mother to the eye doctor to get her glasses repaired.  I think she stepped on them in the middle of the night.  They were bend so badly, I was afraid they would break.  Anyway I loaded her up, wheelchair and all and went out with her.  I had to run some errands.  Bank, UPS store etc.  When we arrived at the doctors office they were closed for lunch until 2 pm.  So I took her Christmas shopping at the local Belk.  Mother has not bought presents in years.  She just "writes" a check (which I do).  This time, she actually picked out items for Danny, Aaron and her new grand-daughter in law, Tonye.  Now I have to wrap the gifts.  Tommorrw I will wonder why my arms are sore and then remember that I had to wrestle the wheelchair out of the trunk of my car five times.  Mother is napping right now.  She told me she was exhausted.  Ha.  So am I.  Trip was good.  She saw fresh air and sunshine today.

I'm pretty sure that Allen Case was on the south side of Belt Line. It was not on the large L that represented the original part of Richardson Heights Village. I think it was in the other section. In the photo below (with Belt Line at the top), I think it was about where the R in Skechers is.

David,

Your comment juggled my memory.  It was in the corner where the chicken place is next to Alamo draft House.

Nice job Steve!

Allen Case LTD, was located over by the old J C Penney store in Heights Shopping Center. Close to Theo's, but not in the breezeway like the barber shop and Theo's. It backed up to the old Texas State Optical building.

Wayne if you are thinking north of Beltline, you may be thinking of the Kent Shop. However, It started on the south side of Beltline close to the old Skaggs grocery store.

Wayne:

There was another men's clothing store in the location by what is now a chicken place in the Richardson Heights shopping center.  Was it Jerry Whittle?  Or Dad and Lad's?

All,

I stand corrected.  After so many years of not thinking about things the memory gets fuzzy. I believe it was Dad & Lads on the SW corner of the buildings.  Thanks for helping me to remember fond memories.

Iember there was a Whites Auto where the Alamo is now and a Wyatts Grocery on the South side of TJ Max. I would get my Dammas Morning News papers to deliver on the sidewalk to the store.  There were times we would get donuts at a shop by where the Half Priced Books is located.

I just back from seeing the new "West Side Story" movie.  It was very good and the singing and dancing were excellent.  I still find it very emotional.
Rita Morino is excellent.

This is still a movie to go with your spouse.

Lowell,

I watched the clip.  Did you notice the TDs caught by Kyle Rote of SMU?

Tom Landry was an a player along side of Kyle then an asst coach for NY Giants while Kyle was a player.

Wayne, I am pretty sure some of our own Eagle footballers played against Kyle Rote, Jr.   and our basketballers....perhaps our baseball players...

But  he decided to play soccer at SMU and later for the Dallas Tornado...
