Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Tommy,

You said if I would post a picture of Bedwell and I you could enhance it to take out the glare, shadow, etc.

Bobby,

Happy Birthday!   We have missed your wisdom on the forum.

Steve Keene

Janalu and Hollis,

Yes Hollis I am back home with my son.  After leaving Bedwell that night in Vancouver, I drove to Everett, Washington and got a room near the Boeing Plant.  I awoke the next morning and waited an hour and a half at the ferry.  I awoke a second time on the ferry with the attendant knocking on my window to drive off after I dozed off.  I drove about a third of the way up the island and helped my son load all his tools and clothes in my pickup.  From there we went to Ivars to eat fish and chips and then headed into West Seattle to see my other son and my granddaughter.  We visited with them till dark and drove to Southwest Portland and got a room.  I called Jan Schollenberger on the way and we arranged to meet for lunch when she got out of Church at the Warren Community Fellowship Church.  Jan looked great, especially after some of the health problems she has had to endure.  She retired as a bank executive like her father and lives on some acreage in the only county in Oregon that went for Trump.  Her son quit the finance industry and started his own coffee company, Local Quality Coffee, and also raises and sells vegetables.   He is unmarried.  Here is a picture of Jan and me outside the local hotspot.

I was surprised to learn that Jan has an interest in gems and rocks.  We have a future date to hunt agates on the Columbia River sand bars.

After leaving Jan, I went southwest and spent the night in La Pine, Oregon.  Steve Gardner drove to La Pine and met us for breakfast and then we proceeded to Crater Lake.  My son rode with Steve and Django his dog and impressed Steve by asking if he had named his dog after the Accoustic Flamenco guitar player, not the movie.  In fact, he had.  They got so distracted talking, they missed the turn and we drove 30 miles out of the way before we realized our mistake.  That is a bad move for a Tesla driver like Steve with 300 miles of range and who allowed for a 10% safety factor.  Steve was able to return towards Bend and located a Charger 9 miles south of town to keep from having to be towed.  Here is a picture of Steve and I at Crater Lake and another shot of the lake.

Janalu and Hollis,

After leaving Steve we drove to the outskirts of Fresno, California because I wanted to see the Giant Sequoias in Sequoia National Park before they burned up.  All of the 9 groves were closed and the air was thick with haze and smoke.  We had hoped to see the General Grant and General Sherman Trees.  We were able to sneak in and get a shot with one of the giants.

Somebody please orient the pic for me.

After that we drove to Yosemite National Park which was not crowded due to the Covid and Wildfire hazards.

There were a group of Crazy Mountain climbers that had traversed the Cathedral face and were going to tie off and hang there all night and then finish their ascent the next day.  If someone will help me orient the pic you can see their small profiles.  I get scared taking two steps at a time down a staircase.  These guys are nuts.

After leaving Yosemite we drove through the Sierras and saw a beautiful pastoral mountain lake.

From there we drove to Henderson, Nevada and spent the night.  Next day we went to Flagstaff, Mancos and Four Corners.  We spent the night in Durango.  Next day we drove to Pagosa Springs, Co. where we saw my friend Gary Boyter and I retrieved the Stetson I had left there two years before.  From there we drove to Amarillo, but the hotels were rediculously high priced.  We headed on to Childress where we got a nice Best Western room for $67 including tax.  We cruised into Red Oak and then Hillsboro, late Friday after a brief look at Archer City, so I could write off my trip.

All,

Notice how well all the other Chief No-Stache fotos turned out - hahahahahaha!!!!

Lance,

I could post a foto, but like Kurt I don't know how to get a foto from my flip phone to anywhere so I can't post a foto.

Bob D,

I'll have to look at my tree - 243,700+ people on it - all kinds of royals, nobles, celebrities you wouldn't believe way back to medieval times (1 of the best compilations in the world) to see how I'm related, if at all - I put people on there if they're closely related to people I'm related to. By the way, anybody who has royal/noble ancestry, you can get a copy of my tree - you WILL NOT believe the name index I've built (I've spent literally thousands of hours building this thing after my parents died) with a TON of searchable data viewable and inundated in that name index in one particular field, "Suffix". Also you wouldn't believe the spreadsheets I've built from this tree - David C saw my now-1500-person-celebrity-cousins-spreadsheet and his reaction was "COOL!"! Sorry, Bob, on the way to Costco now.......can't miss "The Five" later on FNC....

Chief No Stache,

I said I had never been to Crater Lake or Yosemite. You took care of Tommy yesterday. Are you taking care of me today? another hahahahahahha!!!

All,

And don't you love Steve's remark to Tommy:

"You said if I would post a picture of Bedwell and I you could enhance it to take out the glare, shadow, etc."

Chief Stephen No Stache,

KEEP IT UP, BROTHER!!! I TRULY have been LAUGHING continuously since last night after having seen that great "photo" of us, and your reactions since. This incident with its merriment has probably added at least 5 minutes to my depraved life!!! AGAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

I think the picture of you and me was obscured by the haze and smoke from the fires of downtown Portland. I think I saw a clearer picture of you at the Vancouver post office.  It looked like they were advertising giving you some kind of monetary reward.  Pretty soon the only thing left on the west coast will be the Chinese fault, formerly known as the San Andreas.  The Cathedral and the Warren Community Fellowship Church appear rooted in something that may still last.  Jan says there is a possibility that two counties West of Portland will go red at the midterms.

Bob D,

Virginia Woolf & her siblings Adrian Stephen & Vanessa (lover of bisexual Duncan Grant - I'm not related to Grant, one of the 6 Dreadnought pranksters) are my half 13th cousins, 5x removed via the Banastre family of England. The head prankster Horace de Vere Cole is my 10th cousin, 5x removed from a Bacon/Cage noble marriage in England. Anthony Buxton is my 12th cousin, 4x removed via common descent from a Windsor/Andrews noble British marriage. I don't know of any way I am related to Guy Ridley, but he's on the tree since he was in on the hoax and he descends closely from Ridley's related to some of my distant relatives.

But I limit the number of my cousin relationships to others to 10 (obviously "Self" is set to me on my tree), and it still takes the reset-relationships routine an hour and 15 minutes to finish calculating the 1.8+ million relationships to me on the tree. The max is 999 relationships and I don't know if I used 999 instead of 10 how long that would take (gotta be days) or if it would crater before finishing. But I've got 10 known cousin relationships to all these Bloomsbury cousins, through various noble (and sometimes royal - didn't check that here) families. And yet God knows how it all fits together and why. Beyond amazing.

I found it pretty humorous that Virginia & Adrian's FIRST COUSIN, a British naval officer, William Fisher, ALSO on board during the hoax, DIDN'T recognize his cousins!!! Especially since Adrian Stephen was the "interpreter" of the "Abyssinians" and not in brown-face disguise! Fisher is my half 12th cousin, 5x removed through common Fitzhugh family descent.

And yes, at one point I did take some time and add as many Bloomsbury Group folks as I could find that I could connect to my tree.

Gee Lowell, I hope Eileen Sullivan, Linda O'Donnell, and Susan Melton don't see your post yesterday.  They may get offended.....  You undoubtedly are confusing me with Marty Matzen, who lived down the street from me in 'the Reservation'.  She was a year or two younger than us, but a major Babefest nontheless.....

Steve's road trip brings back memories of my life in Seattle, 1975 to 1982.  I lived all over - West Seattle (twice), the Fremont district, Lake City, Phinney Ridge, White Center.  My favourite place was Vashon Island, about a mile north of downtown on the main road.  Wish I had an extra $30K - my friend had to sell his place in 1981 (on five acres).  It burned down a year later, a very old 2-story house.  Probably arson.  Oh, I almost forgot, spent maybe 6 months sharing a house on Capital Hill, next to a Post Office substation.  It's always been the hangout for a lot of the city's 'nut cases'.  That's where I almost got robbed at knifepoint....  Cheers!

Hollis Carolyn Heyn

Steve!

I love Ivars.  Been to one downtown and the other right next to the ferry in Mukilteo with Charles Van Citters (little brother to my RHS 71 classmate Rachel and your RHS classmate Sarah) and his wife Linda, my classmate from Lindenwood.  They have a Mukilteo midcentury modern with a great view of the water and developers knocking on their door weekly entreating them with offers to buy their extra lot for egress down a hill where they want to build multi million dollar houses.  Much enjoyment for them in saying no because no other way in is really possible.  Kinda surprised the developers haven't managed some kind of eminent domain bull shit move.

Next visit to Portland I'm planning on a Crater Lake visit.  Thanks for all the photos.

Chief No Stache,

COOL!!! BUT I had to go to ALL the post offices. Those guys are THOROUGH & QUICK!!

Don't know if you heard that some eastern (a lot less woke/broke there) Oregon counties want to switch to Idaho (who can blame them?). Yeah, maybe I should wait for something like that to happen so I can stay in this mild weather out here after the divorce is final? I don't know, Archer City is pretty appealing compared to these Marxists out here..........gnaw, she and I (and they) are leaving!

Just reported on Hannity, 352,000 deaths from the China virus in 2020, 372,000 deaths in 2021. So if not already, the number of deaths under Biden will soon be greater than those under Trump's administration.

Since the Marxists are now fully in control, as long as that continues, just like we'll likely never know if Biden really did beat Trump (I doubt it), we'll never know what the number of deaths would have been had Biden not begun the ongoing super spreader at the border. And also on FNC they reported how they are flying the illegal aliens from the border to Westchester County, NY & all over in the middle of the night, like arriving 3 in the morning just like when they flew all those billions of $$$ to Iran when Obama was President. Then there are always buses waiting to distribute the aliens from there. This is truly an invasion and totally impeachable. Duh!

But of course, the most blame for the China virus belongs to China, but as always Biden's an enabler of them; go ask Hunter.

10/18/21 08:33 PM #22589

Jim Bedwell

Is anybody else SICK of this pattern?

The Chinese just launched a mega missile, nuclear capable, that the Biden administration was totally surprised about.

A week or two ago, the latest jobs report was less than 200K created with an expectation of 600K+, yet another economics surprise except it's ALWAYS that way with Marxists on economics reports.

I guess Afghanistan surprised them?

Forget next year's election, at this rate, we'll be lucky to make it to yearend!

Oh, and like Hannity just said (& every day now) it's been 60+ days since Biden abandoned ALL in Afghanistan, and 40+ days since he's mentioned them! And of course the abandoning 60+ days ago happened 13 days after Biden said he would never abandon Americans there.

I'm starting to think these folks running things now are not just incompetent, they are the mothers of all incompetence. Like Reverend Jeremiah Wright said, "Chickens coming home to roost..........."

?   Marty.   Now I am confused.   I was pointing out to Janalu she may have mistaken you as a female.   I barely remember you from high school...but was pretty sure you were not female.

Marty Matzen lived down the street from me on Thompson.  If you drove 100 miles per hour down Westwood and failed to stop, you would crash into her house...or close.

The reservation was on the other side of Arapaho, West or Waterview.  Lots of girls there too.

Marty was a year behind us.   I took trig  my senior year.  She was in the class and I sat between her, Carol  Peavy, and Nancy Warrenton.   Every test I took came back to me from Ms Mann and it was exactly a 70.   Each time I saw those three girls, all juniors, getting back their tests with 99.   I was good at algebra but never memorized the laws or rules in plane geometry or Trig needed  for proofs....can't believe algebra has helped me, but sign, cosign, and triangle and square fules, as well as plotting points never came into use.

Marty's two brothers were Rick Matzen and Neal Matzen both (RIP.)   Neal was the swimming coach when RHS started the school swim team our Junior (I think) year.   Marty is now Colley  My sister in contact with her via Susan Newsom/Martin.  Marty's hussband was one of the guys who start ed the Katy Trail  Ice House...a good place to hang out.

Rick Matzen and Kathy Vogt were involved, and I think married.

My mom and Mr and Mrs Matzen were friends.   Kathy Vogt's mom and my mom also were pretty close.   The Vogt's had a nice vacation home in Wimberly...

Oh well...past to current times...just faded memories.

Why would anyone take Trig voluntarily their senior year?   Ya got me.

And hapledy Boietherdey   Bob Fleming.   My co worker from my first job where they took out social security.  I had to get an SS card to work for the YMCA.   It was two weeks at 15.00 a week.   The Y day camp was on the grounds of that Church at the end of Sp ring Valley...That was the best day camp site...The same year Charles Whitman shot from the UT tower.

Hollis,

They closed the ferry at Mulkiteo and built a bigger one east of there about a 1/4 mile.  The néw one has an upstairs gallery that has local Native American artifacts and artwork.

Lowell,

I used to stay near Capital Hill when I visited my. Granddaughters near the hospital district and an IHOP.  They had the best coffee shop that roasted their beans rather than burned them like Starbucks.  Good pastries, too.

it looks like the Red Sox are doing something about the Astros.

I may start being a jump on the bandwagon Cowboys fan, but only if they start throwing to Cooper more.  He's on my fantasy team,,,,I need him for this week bad as some of my players are on bye.

10/19/21 10:10 AM #22595

Lowell,

I can guarantee that Cooper will not catch any passes and Dak will not throw or run for any TDs this weekend.

Cowboys have a bye week.  No game.

10/19/21 11:38 AM #22596

Yep, saw just after the RHS post.   Well,  have to go with Brandon Cooks and Antonio Brown...Also lost Cleveland running back Kareem Hunt for 4-6 weeks...

I guess a lot of NFL haters will be watching the Cowboys again soon.   They are starting to look pretty good.

Tommy,

Thanks if you are the one who oriented my pictures.  The climbers on the Cathedral face are the tiny black dots on the far top right.  You can see the tiny shadow they cast.

Chief Bedpost office wanted reward and Lance,

I would be careful about making comments on my zaftig profile with all the negative attributes that you boys tend to exhibit.

Jim Bedwell

Chief No Stache,

I'm not sure why your warning was directed to me AND Lance. I made no reference to your zaftig figure, but just that AWFUL cigarette you were smoking. I did mention that my figure was formerly more zaftigish; please forgive me if that oafishness brought attention to your figure. "Negative attributes"? Guilty.

And I did have to look up "zaftig". But thanks for reminding me that yes, we both know you beat me on the SAT - BUT THAT WAS ONLY THE VERBAL PART!!! SO TAKE THAT, BUSTER!

You really are making me jealous though when you mention you stopped by Archer City - CAN'T WAIT to get there! However, you will be pleased to know that your eyes looked less distinctively that striking shade of blue I covet so much - so my jealousy of you for that BEFORE THAT GLORIOUS PHOTO OP was diminished somewhat as we were chowing down. But don't worry, I'll NEVER be as jealous of your wealth as you indicated privately you were of Hull's, and also don't worry, I won't let ANYBODY know of your designs on that! Those plans you divulged to me at that dinner make this latest Tommy episode that you executed so cleverly look like child's play! You know you can always trust me on stuff like this; you know I could never, would never lie to you about anything like that or ANYTHING ELSE EVER. Trust me. And the illegal aliens aren't going to be here that long so don't worry about that either - Jen Psaki is equally trustworthy.

But AGAIN, you would NOT believe the JOY you've given me the last 48 hours. Plus the added bonus of removing undesirable and TOTALLY UNJUSTIFIED local advertising concerning me!!!

Chief Bedpost

Tommy,

The GLORIOUS PHOTO OP of 11 days ago in Vancouver, WA and resultant photo SO INDICATIVE OF STEVE'S PHOTOGRAPHIC GRAVITAS and your initial, disbelieving response. Maybe I was wrong - it wasn't Gardner, but you and Steve who pulled this off? Or the 3 of you? I found it truly rib-shattering.
