Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful! Click the "Post Response" button to add your entry to the forum.

Sandra, do you ever reread your posts BEFORE you hit send?

What do you NEED from this Forum that's SO missing in your lovely lifestyle?

About voting for him.  You will most likely get that opportunity, 22nd Amendment be damned.

TRUMP 48?...PROPOSTEROUS NONSENSE!

He has already taken away due process and is working his way to disregard any judge's orders, supreme or not.  In fact, he is working a way to deport citizen to prisons in foreign countries, without due process.

YES, THAT CONCERNS ME AS WELL.

He has allowed Elon Musk to take ownership of all of our private data from Social Security and the IRS.

FACT-CHECK THIS PLEASE.

He intends to slap tarriffs on prescription drugs which will cause shortages and prices, already sky high, to go even higher.

All this and the treasury bonds go higher which means foreign investments are tanking.

You thought eggs were high, brace yourselves, everything else will follow suit.     NOPE…EGSS ARE FINE…YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S SCRAMBLED!

Business can't plan for anything because on a whim he will slap on more tariffs or stop them with no notice.   It's a hellva way to run a country.

Sandra,

When Trump first ran, Jonah Goldberg, then a Trump-hating National Review editor, commented that the problem with anti-Trumpers is that they take him literally but not seriously.  It looks to me like you have fallen into that trap.

He's trolling all of you with TDS with that third term silliness.

Sandra..............

OK, concerning President Trump's BMI.

Let's look back a bit......former Dallas Cowboy - Tony Romo was 6 Ft. - 2 Inches tall and weighed 230 pounds. Yes, he was considerably younger than President Trump.....and Trump probably should weigh a LESS than he does - IMO, he needs to back off of the McDonald's & the Diet Coke....both are just unhealthy for ALL of us!

But let's compare TRUMP with BIDEN............Biden looked very frail & weak to me.  He had trouble just walking.  Trump plays a lot of GOLF.....and trust me, you have to be in descent physical condition to play that game even if you're using a Golfcart.

To Janalu.........

About OBAMA and his attitude about AMERICA not being a "Christian Nation".  Of course it is....America was founded on the "Christian faith".  OBAMA is definitely a "closet MUSLIM".  As I mentioned here in the forum before.....OBAMA wrote in one of the books he published...if he had a choice of being an AMERICAN or a MUSLIM...........he would chose to be a MUSLIM.  Personally, I don't feel OBAMA was properly vetted (sp.) by anyone when they put him on the top of the ticket to run for President of The United States.......IF they had, they would have known he was a "full blown MUSLIM" and had no business being in THE OVAL OFFICE....period. He did a great job screwing up AMERICA for 8 years!!!  And I think he was very active (behind the scenes) the 4 years BIDEN was in the White House.......and OBAMA is probably STILL actively working "against everything President Trump is trying to accomplish for America and the American people".

Thinking about my comments regarding the proposed EPIC development east of Plano, in retrospect I am showing bias.

I'd compare my thoughts about the EPIC development with how I think about neighborhoods with Orthodox and Conservative Jews.  Since these Jews follow the principle they can't drive to synagogue, they walk.  In general they follow the principle they should not walk more than 3000 feet between their home and the synagogue.  Therefore, they will seek to buy their homes within a 3000 foot radius.  This results in neighborhoods which are heavily Jewish settled.

This doesn't bother me at all.  Yet I am bothered by the East Plano Muslim Center purposely building a community to be close to their mosque.  I can't reconcile why I'm bothered by one and not the other.  But I will give it some thought over time.

04/15/25 07:56 PM #32613

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Kurt,

I think you may be bothered by the EPIC Center, in a way similar to how I am bothered, but maybe not.  You are a man with distinctive ways of reasoning.  To me, the idea of having all of the living and worshiping and possible retail shops in one area, is an idea that it is NOT conducive to how most Americans live, in the state areas away from the big cities we have here.

Everyone who sees the model of the EPIC layout, can see that THIS concept is not the usual type of layout we see, when developers are beginning a new residential area..

To me, it appears to be the way other Muslim enclaves have come about in European countries and in Great Britain.  The Muslims enjoy living all together in a cluster, probably because they get strength-in-numbers from the concept, and they prefer to push away Americanization as much as possible.

I could be wrong.

Am I biased?

Yes, I am a bit, but I think I would be less biased if I saw them living just like the other nationalities live who have come here, in a way that demonstrates they WANT to be Americans, rather that Muslims living in an enclave, in the US.

I also am biased in believing that they don't accept, readily, Christians, Jews, or even other religions of the world.  To know that they have tenets in their Holy Book, whereby they are instructed to either kill people who are not of the Islamic faith, or enslave those people, does not allow me to feel comfortable having them in my neighborhood or country.  Also, I can't figure WHY they want to come to this country they openly admit is THE BIG SATAN, except that their Qur'an tells them to go out and conquer all nations, converting the people to Islam.  That idea is another one that doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy toward them.  I DO KNOW that there are quite a few Muslims in our neighborhoods who say they ignore parts of the Qur'an they think are incorrect or outdated, but I wonder if those people will always remain in THAT frame of mind.  If at sometime in the future, the Islamic people begin to gather together and revolt against THE BIG SATAN, how will those particular reformed Muslims interact when they see many Muslims coming toward them with the attitude of "Join us, or die an apostate."

I know I should try my best to be open-minded to the Muslims, so I DO try.......but I still am wary about some of them who act stand-offish.  And when the EPIC developers SAY their new development will be OPEN TO ALL, I wonder if they are being truthful.  I wonder if their MOSQUE will be open to all people at the EPIC area, or even if any people who do not know about the faith will be welcomed without suspicions swirling?

Maybe they will be welcomed, but will they be able to embrace the Qur'an as it is written?

Well, I'm rethinking the whole Muslim-self-contained-enclave-in-Plano thing.

One thing I can say for certain, though. Muslims in Plano like Costco.

04/15/25 11:16 PM #32615

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Maybe they like Costco because they are encouraged by their Qur'an to have many children, so as to populate the world with lots of little Muslims, able to overtake other countries more easily, when the time is right.  And since Costco sells many items in large sizes or in bulk, i.e. three tubes of toothpaste bound together, or peanut butter in the giant size jar, etc., then they find good bargains at Costco.  They can even get clothing, luggage, or bargain buys on mattresses.  Muslims and most everyone around like the Costco offerings, dontcha' know!

I don't think there is halal food at Costco though, but maybe in some areas with many Muslims, it is offered.  I know we can buy lamb fillets at our store with good prices, but the lamb has not been butchered like halal meat.

US butchers have better sanitation requirements, unlike some halal places. (or so I have heard)

I was just now remembering when my daughter had a birthday party on a Friday night in fifth grade, with a slumber party, to boot.  Many of her classmate girl friends came, one of them being a Muslim girl included in the group.

However, once it was around 10:00PM, her mother came to pick-up her daughter to go home, since she was not allowed to sleep over in a house where there were men living, not related to her. (Or something like that.....)

The sweet little girl was in tears not being able to stay, but her mother insisted that she had to go home.

We packed up some extra cake and bubble gum to take with her, as a consolation.

Muslims' EPIC Efforts in Texas: A New Chapter in Religious Community Development

The East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) has proposed the development of "EPIC City," a 400-acre Muslim-centric community in North Texas. The project aims to include homes, schools, a mosque, parks, and other facilities to support the Muslim community.

However, Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton have raised legal concerns, initiating multiple investigations into the project. Abbott has accused EPIC of having "serious legal issues," even though developers state they have not yet moved beyond the planning stages. The controversy has drawn criticism from multifaith community leaders, who view the investigations as discriminatory. Star Tribune+4Chron+4KERA News+4YouTube+3Houston Chronicle+3Chron+3Dallas News

Comparative Cases: Muslim Community Developments in Other States

Minnesota – Lino Lakes' Madinah Lakes Project

In Lino Lakes, Minnesota, a proposed development known as Madinah Lakes, which included residential housing and a mosque, faced significant opposition from local residents. Concerns centered around the size of the development and its potential impact on the community. The city council ultimately tabled the proposal, reflecting the challenges Muslim communities face in establishing dedicated spaces. Star Tribune+4CBS News+4AOL+4Star Tribune

Michigan – Hamtramck's Cultural Shifts

Immigration Policies: U.S. vs. Europe and Their Impact on Muslim Communities

The United States and Europe have adopted different approaches to immigration, particularly concerning Muslim populations. In the U.S., Muslims constitute a smaller proportion of the immigrant population, and integration has been relatively more successful. Conversely, Europe has faced challenges integrating larger Muslim populations, leading to social tensions and policy debates. CMS

Quran, Surah al-Nisa’ (Verses 1–5): Interpretations and Potential Conflicts with American Values

While these teachings promote social responsibility and justice, interpretations that advocate for gender-specific roles or inheritance laws differing from U.S. civil law could lead to conflicts. For instance, if religious practices were to influence legal decisions in ways that contradict the U.S. Constitution's principles of equality and secular governance, tensions could arise. Scholars Crossing

Final Thoughts and Further Reading

The development of Muslim-centric communities like EPIC City highlights the ongoing dialogue between religious freedom, community planning, and legal frameworks in the United States. As these projects progress, they will continue to test the balance between accommodating religious truth and practices and upholding constitutional principles.

Hey Youz Guys!

Have you seen the photo of Joan Baez's tree house in her backyard!?

She was recently singing at a rally for Bernie Sanders, so news people were asking her lots of questions.

Someone got wind of a tree house in her backyard where she says she likes to sleep on some nights.

Cool!

I would love to have a tree house where I could sleep sometimes too!

I've been fascinated with tree houses since seeing the movie "Swiss Family Robinson," a Disney film, when I was a kid.  The tree house in that movie was fabulous, with a roof over the parent's bed that could be lifted, so that one could lie there gazing at the stars.  WOW!  I thought that would be a dream come true, for a night of peaceful sleeping and dreaming.

I've seen some advertisements for rentable tree houses in Washington state.  Some photos of them are amazing to see, at least to me.  I wonder how much the rental fee is?

The East Plano Muslim planned community is in violation of "Red Lining" laws under HUD. That has stalled the project. They intended it to be for their own faction of Muslims. I can't remember if it is Shiite or Sunni Muslim, but one of the two ONLY. No whites, blacks, asians, hispanics or anything but their own kind. This is another example of how other countries get away with discrimination and are trying to bring their lifestyle to America.

The only way I see them being able to build such a community won't happen in Plano. They will have to buy a tract of land and privitize it completely with their own maintained streets, water, trash, electric, gas etc... Take NO money from city, state or federal agencies no city, state  or federal agency can have anything to do with it. Then it could be somewhat like a private members only country club. Completely self contained. They will have to provide financing themselves. No bank, credit union or mortgage company could possibly lend on this kind of property.

That's the way I see it from a professional mortgage banker viewpoint. Anything less is a violation of HUD.

I suspect that the Muslim group will allow non-Muslims to live there, but Christians, Jews, and others will know that moving there is a bad idea.

Meanwhile, what are your thoughts about the "Maryland man" who was deported to El Salvador

Janalu,

I fell in love with the tree house in Swiss Family Robinson as a kid, too, and it's always been one of my fantasies to have one.  Good for Joan!

I was wondering if we could pick the guy up, put him on a plane with a judge onboard to "hear" what the guy has to say, then while all aboard listen, along with a couple of American newsmen,     we could decide which  country we should next deliver him........ or take him, possibly, to Guantanamo.

It has been said that this whole fiasco should have been 'nipped in the bud' on the first day or two, because now we have a much larger continuing story where news clips are being stored away to be rehashed at inopportune times to skewer Trump as a "Dictator," particularly at the mid-terms time period, and toward Republicans as being horrible, non-compassionate destestables; people who ENJOY breaking apart lovely families with little children involved. (reports HAVE to always reemphasize the CHILDREN component with fervor)

04/17/25 11:21 AM #32622

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Bob D.,

The movie was a memorable one, wasn't it?

I still want a treehouse, but my husband is not in agreement.

I may have to get out my hammar and pieces of wood scraps to construct myself!

Joan has named one of the very large trees near her house as "The Counselor."  She says she talks to it all the time and communes with it.  Sounds okay to me.......

Nature is definitely calming and peaceful to be in.

04/17/25 11:51 AM #32623

Sandra Spieker (Ringo)

David,

My thoughts on the “Maryland man”.

I had no idea that it was possible to pick up anyone, illegal or legal and put them on an airplane and deposit them in a foreign country without due process.   I thought everyone, regardless of the “crime” was considered innocent until proven guilty.

I have always thought that the foundation of our democracy was based upon due process and this:

habeas corpus /hā′bē-əs/

noun

  1. A writ that a person may seek from a court to obtain immediate release from an unlawful confinement, as when the confinement has occurred through a means that violated the person's constitutional rights.
  2. The right of a person to obtain such a writ.
  3. A writ to bring a person before a court or a judge, most frequently used to ensure that a person's imprisonment, detention, or commitment is legal.

I have yet to see any proof that this “Maryland Man” wa a member of a terrorist organization, or that he committed a  crime  in the past.  No record so far yet:

The President and his “men” (ie Stephen Miller, for one) has cited the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 as the reason for this action.  I guess that means we are in a state of war.  Further to that it must  mean that anyone who has the following criteria is a member of  MS-13:

"he was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie; and that a confidential informant advised that he was an active member of MS-13 with the Westerns clique" – a group based out of Long Island, New York.

We are so far from slippery slope on this it boggles the mind.  We are off the cliff.  Constitutional crisis commencing.

As for the mother who cried upon hearing this man was deported and her daughter was murdered by a man from El Salvador, I wonder if that man got due process.  Did he get deported or put in jail after evidence proved he did the crime?  Why is that so terrible?

I guess the conservative logic will be that to deport all El Salvador men regardless of crime, history or proof will prevent all crimes from this group.

Due process be damned.  To hell with habeas corpus.  Goodbye democracy.  Hello dictatorship.

Rolling back freedoms and individual rights as having gone too far for a conservative country's own good is what the GOP and the right are all about.

US POLICY MEMO:

DUE PROCESS, TERRORISM, AND CRIMINAL DEPORTATION

Hey David, (cc: BobD), as you recall last week, we both heard by email from our old Castilian friend Richard Ainsworth regarding his Loyola University luncheon in New Orleans with guest speaker Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

@LoynoLaw was honored to host Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, recently for the 2025 Robert A. Ainsworth, Jr. Memorial Lecture. https://x.com/Loyola_NOLA/status/1912255172958363713

Richard is now a retired banking-attorney living with his wife and 2 sons outside of New Orleans.  He replied below with his opinion on the recent events concerning “limited due process” afforded to (or not) criminal aliens, e.g., Abrego Garcia, concerning whether he has any habeas corpus rights to reverse Trump’s controversial deportation to CECOT in El Salvador. I’m confident we’ll be hearing from the Supremes soon to deliberate here.

Knowing you appreciate a good opinion on such issues, including yours posted above, I sent him my US Policy Memo (also below) for his opinion on my opinion.

Would you please comment on which of the many Forum commentaries (drama and all), are more likely to soon hold up in court, IYHO?

April 16, 2025

Lance,

I took a class in Constitutional Law 42 years ago.  This hardly makes me an expert.

I don't know if this summary is an official U.S. Government document or who might have put it together.

I haven't read the cases cited.  I would prefer to see the government pleadings in this case and their references to the case law and how they should be applied to these specific facts and this guy's past and current conduct.

It appears that in the case of national security and/or terrorism the government has a lower standard to meet due process considerations.  The president has declared MS13 a terrorist organization and a national security risk.  Two courts have found this guy to be a member of the gang.  All I know about the present case is the limited coverage I have seen on television, usually slanted one way or another.  Unless there are circumstances of which I am not aware, I tend to have confidence in Pam Bondi and the U.S. Justice Department's assessment.  I also think that we should deport illegals who have no right to be in the country and are affiliated with organized criminal activities or otherwise threaten the safety of American citizens.

I suspect that, in an effort to stop Trump's deportation of illegals, the Democrat leadership wants to demand full court hearings with full due process rights for every single illegal alien in the country.  This would gum up the legal system and bring deportation to a standstill.  The government must make sure that the person to be deported fits the criteria for deportation, and we are going to have to depend on the Supreme Court to give maximum clarity on their due process rights.

Richard.

US POLICY MEMO:  DUE PROCESS, TERRORISM, AND CRIMINAL DEPORTATION

Executive Summary

This memorandum addresses the contrasting due process rights afforded to terrorism suspects versus criminal aliens, particularly those affiliated with foreign gangs within the United States. It highlights how national security and immigration enforcement intersect to create differing standards of legal protection. U.S. Supreme Court rulings such as Hamdi v. Rumsfeld and Boumediene v. Bush uphold due process rights even in terrorism contexts, while cases like Demore v. Kim and Zadvydas v. Davis demonstrate how criminal aliens face constrained due process protections, particularly when deportation or mandatory detention is at issue. Legal mechanisms like expedited removal and secret evidence use further limit procedural rights for foreign nationals, especially when gang affiliations or aggravated felonies are present.

This memo provides legal context and a comparative chart to support future policy or litigation strategies. To: Policy Analysts and Legal Advisors From: Legal Policy Research Division Date: April 17, 2025 Subject: Constitutional and Legal Parameters for Deportation and Detention of Criminal Aliens and Terrorism Suspects This memorandum outlines the constitutional boundaries and legal mechanisms involved in the detention and deportation of criminal non-citizens, particularly those with foreign gang affiliations, in comparison with terrorism-related cases. It evaluates how U.S. courts have addressed habeas corpus and due process rights in national security and immigration contexts.

Legal Foundations: The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments guarantee that "no person" shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. However, immigration law allows the government to implement streamlined or expedited removal processes with limited judicial oversight. Habeas corpus protections under Article I provide a mechanism to challenge unlawful detention, but its application can vary based on citizenship status and the nature of the offense or security threat.

II. Terrorism and National Security Cases In landmark cases such as Hamdi v. Rumsfeld (2004) and Boumediene v. Bush (2008), the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of both citizens and non-citizens to challenge detention under habeas corpus, even when national security was invoked.

These cases affirmed the judiciary's role in preserving due process rights, even in the context of military detention or wartime detention facilities such as Guantanamo Bay.

III. Deportation and Limited Due Process for Criminal Aliens Criminal non-citizens, including lawful permanent residents, face more limited protections. In Demore v. Kim (2003), the Court upheld mandatory detention during removal proceedings. In Zadvydas v. Davis (2001), the Court ruled that indefinite detention without a foreseeable removal was unconstitutional. Immigrants with gang affiliations may be deported under aggravated felony or terrorism provisions.

The use of expedited removal, material support clauses, and secret evidence are common legal tools in such cases to determine legal distinctions.

I'll join Lowell and Sandra in expressing horror over deporting people without their having due process.  And I recommend the following podcast: "Trump's Deportation Black Hole" on revealnews.org/topic.  You might benefit from this investigative journalism - something lacking from Fox.

Lance,

I think your New Orleans atty. friend makes very good points in his analysis.

We have been deporting illegals who entered this country when they knew they came here unlawfully, or under false premises.

No other country allows that type of entry either.

This "Maryland man," was ordered by a judge to leave, but didn't, and his wife or ladyfriend called police twice to claim he assaulted her.  Plus he had a "rap sheet' known to police depts. in several states.

He has been before a judge twice, I have heard on newscasts, though I have not investigated it, since it seems to be a ridiculous exercise.  The mainstream media wants to portray this situation as a miscarriage of justice, along with the Progressive Leftists who encourage them.

He was known to police in Maryland and New York to be an MS-13 member, as was brought to light in previous court hearings.  That's why ICE officials went after him in the first place.  They didn't just pull him off of some neighborhood sidewalk, when he was walking his poodle.

Is he really married to an American, or is he just living with her?

I haven't heard about that.  It appears that he has an explosive temper at times, so I'm wondering why she wants him back, or around her children.

Janalu, I heard Garcia was in prison/jail when he married that American woman. I don't know for sure if that's true or not, but I suspect it is, since I heard that on Fox News, the last frontier or bastion of INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM along with some talk radio outlets as compared to the corrupt legacy media, which is simply the Pravda or the communication arm of the increasingly-corrupt-over-decades Democrat Party.

Democrats & liberals have forfeited their right to ever mention "rule of law" or "due process" again, with their silent acceptance of the Biden/Kamala/etc. policy of the open border. They created the problem and now are squawking about it when Trump & Co. are trying to fix THEIR unlawful, unconstitutional, STUPID illegal-alien-invasion mess.

And the statement  "investigative journalism - something lacking from Fox." is one of the most inane/clueless and inaccurate assertions that I have ever heard. The left for many years now has often accused the right of behaviors or characteristics that define those people on the left, the "Russian hoax"'s being perhaps the best example (with the Steele dossier paid for by none other than HilLIARy, who WAS actually colluding with Russians to sway the 2016 election to herself). The left is truly the fascist side, not the right, etc. ad nauseum.........

The "Maryland Man" had his Due Process in 2019 first by an immigration Judge who proclaimed him a member of MS-13 and issued his deportation and then again by an appelate Judge who upheld the lower court and ordered him deported. Biden never followed through with it. But now Trump is and should have done it in 2019. So what the hell are you talking about "Due Process" for this "Maryland Man"?. He is where he belongs, PERIOD! He came here illegally in 2012. Did not claim asylum until 7 years later, by law you have to do that in 1 year. He told the judge in 2019 when asked about asylum is that he feared for his life FROM another gang in El Salvador that were a rival gang to MS13.

BTW, where is the outrage for the murder of another young lady killed by these illegal immigrants? It's BS that you are standing behind illegal gang members of MS13 over American citizens and send a couple of congressmen down to El Salvador on the taxpayer's nickel, but haven't reached out to the families of those murdered in Maryland!! Totally disgusting behavior.

David, I hope that answers your question to me about my thoughts on the "Maryland Man".

The latest school shooting today at Florida State U in Tallahassee, Florida - the wacko shooter was the son of a law enforcement officer - odd that the serial killer Danny Rolling ("the Gainesville Ripper"; 1954-2006 executed, thank God) who killed 5 U of Florida students in Gainesville, Florida in 1990, was also the son of a Shreveport cop.
