Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Delta anounced last week that they will charge and extra $200/mo for health insurance for those employees not vaccinated.

My mother got the virus in January, the 6th.  She nearly died. She has had both doses of the Pfizer vaccine. She could still get the Delta variant.   I could still get the virus or be a carrier and give it to someone, which is why I wear a mask in public places.  Delta Airlines is on the right track!  Charge them extra for insurance, and testing!

I will repeat for Sandra. 90% of the water vapor that carries the China virus can get through either the cloth or blue masks you see everywhere. That is science, as opposed to making yourself feel better, which is what you are obviously into.

Hannity just had on 2 of the Gold Star fathers of the 13 servicemen murdered in Kabul this week by the suicide bomber. One of the fathers would meet with the Traitor Biden and the other one wouldn't.

Hannity had video (more than in the last Cordell link) showing BIDEN's REPEATEDLY CHECKING HIS WATCH when the 13 caskets were being brought off the planes in the ceremony. The one father who wouldn't meet with Biden said Joe did that EVERY TIME FOR ALL 13 caskets - he's checking his watch. The other father verified Biden's awful behavior for the world to see.

WOW! What an UNCARING BASTARD of a President we have! How different than the WONDERFUL DONALD!

When they got out 340K+ British, French, etc, troops at Dunkirk in 1940, some in England were prone to act like it was a great victory, similar to some of the statements we've heard about this fiasco in Afghanistan. Churchill pointed out at the time that while it was a tremendous relief, it was no victory to be celebrated since it was such a disaster on the other side of the channel.

Plus of the reported 120K evacuated, only 6000 Americans, and we're getting a lot of the dregs of their society we don't want - that will be a disaster like it was in Europe as they are currently being imported into this country to add to the other major totally unrestricted, unvetted horde from the border - what strategists these Dems are, but not for thee and me! If there were 120K minus 6K equals 114K Afghanis, if they were all interpreters, other helpers, even if they're not educated, OK they deserve to be here, even Afghani soldiers that tried to fight. But on that one FNC segment, a soldier that seemed to know said that 80-90% of the Afghani soldiers were totally worthless (within seconds in the video showing their failure to execute simple calisthenics instructions, you could tell those people were no soldiers or even really trainable at all; so anybody over the years that said they would fight is either clueless or lying or both (like Joe)) so we don't want the great majority of them - they didn't fight for their country and they're worthless to boot, pun intended.

Lance,

The mRNA technology used by Pfizer and Maderna has been in development for over 10 years.  Due to the urgency they were approved after over 40,000 patients were given the vaccines and after 5 months there were few side affect and they were over 95% effective.  Now they have 1 year of study with few side affeccts and still 80% effective after 8 months. The first large scale trial with 44,000 people getting the vaccine started in July of 2020.  The vaccine does not include any DNA so cannot cause the person getting Covid.

Older technologies use a killed virus in the vaccine.

Of the patients in ICU with Covid over 90% are unvaccanated.  Most of the vaccinated patients going into ICU have other autoimunity problems.

Last Sunday the Dallas Morning News had and article about the vaccines and what they do and do not do.

Wayne,

Read last week by the CDC and was reported by the news that the vaccine is now only about 64% effective. I am assuming this is because of the new varaints.

Lance,

A "pro vaccine" strength you left off.

Long term health concerns and damage from those infected without the vac.

Russ, like polio, a 3rd and later a 4th booster would go a long way to raising that effectiveness.

Lance, just put it on the list.

And, no spinning.

And only 53% have been vacd...There in is the problem....re herd immunity...

70% is just a dream

It should be 90%

Lance,

As far as I am concerned there are no cons to getting the vaccine.  One little prick and done.  I had no side affects.  None.  Coupled with wearing a mask and dilgent handwashing, I have managed to escape any infections this year.  No colds, no flu and certainly no Covid.  The pros of not getting the virus are no lasting lung or heart damage.  No nerve damage (loss of taste), no blood clots, no breathing problems and no extreme fatigue that lasts for weeks or months.  The RNA techology has a vast potential to arm us against a whole host of corona viruses.

I mother was experiencing some long covid affects.  Her taste buds were out of whack and she was extremely tired.  After the vaccine doses she got this dissapated, but it took weeks.  Another pro and no con.  The medications she got while she was infected with Covid were far more harsh than getting the vaccine.  Large doses of steroids for one.  When they give you steroids like that they have to wean you off of them slowly, they are dangerous.  She also got vermectin, and those side affects were awful.  Severe nausea. It was early on in the pandemic and they tried all kinds of drugs that do not work.  Vermectin in one of them.  Zinc also does nothing.  I tried to get her monoclonal antibodies but they were so new no doctors around here in hicksville knew about them and by the time they woke up it was too late.  She had to  be hospitalized.  Remdisvir did work for her.

If you like to live life on the edge and take chances, hell go for it Lance and do without the vaccine.  You might get lucky, you never know.  I personally don't gamble with my life or those that I love.

In a Reuters story today, they reported a conversation between Biden and the puppet Afghani, Prime Minister/President/Whatever Ghani (the guy who fled the country with money & no word to his CIA handlers) ON JULY 23 in which Biden indicated a rapid demise via Taliban overthrow was entirely possible - further proof of his lying to us all along about how 300,000 Afghan "soldiers" would do fine.

Also an Afghani interpreter who was stranded with Biden, John Kerry and others behind Taliban lines in 2008 when they all had to be rescued (his translations helped that, as I understand it), has been abandoned by the Dems and will likely be murdered by the Taliban - he can't escape now even though he's in hiding, right?

The ISIS caliphate created by Obama/Biden when they also abruptly left Iraq is child's play compared to what Joe the Traitor is leaving in Afghanistan with the Taliban, now one of the 5 best equipped military regimes in the world. Oh, and yes, there is a way home now for any of the thousands of hostages; it's called ransom - I'm sure the Dems would never pay ransom to cover up their horrible mistakes, especially with taxpayer money.

And as the Abandoner in Chief identified the just completed mission as an "extraordinary success", what would an "utter failure" look like in the "thinking" of the Leader of the (Formerly) Free World?

Sounds like the Afghani imports may be here already? Or almost? Vetting? What's that? I guess some obsolete word like transparency, accountability, Joe the Unifier, Joe the Moderate, Joe the Adult in the Room, rule of law and order, Constitution, impeachment, etc. Pathetic.

Sandra:

While I have been vaccinated for Covid and believe the benefits to society far outweigh the risks, I would disagree there are no risks.

Since getting the Pfizer vaccine in late March, I have developed some form of allergic reaction where my lips swell significantly (when seeing the pictures, doctors say "Wow").  I've also had two occasions when my throat begins to swell shut.  I never had these reactions before taking the vaccine and thoroughly believe the vaccine is the cause.  I'm finally going to an allergist on Thursday rather than my PCP to see if he can get to a solution.

The vaccine wars have gone on for centuries, even back to the original small pox vaccinations.  Now the typical concern is that the risk of getting a vaccine (particularly for children) is greater than the risk of catching the disease.  This goes for small pox, whopping cough, polio, etc.  Of course, when too many people take this approach, we lose our herd immunity and the diseases can once more pop up.  What we see being played out with the Covid vaccine is similar, with the additional concern of side effect of the vaccine.  And I am testimony there can be negative side effects.

Sandra Spieker (Ringo)

Kurt,

I am sorry you are experiencing what appears to be a long term reaction to the vaccine.  I hope you can find a solution or this passes with time.

I know of several folks who contracted Covid.  The symptoms and suffering varies, but generally speaking, it was rough.  Two of my son's fiancee's family members have died from Covid.  Danny has had several of his classmates die of Covid recently.  There are numerous instances in the news lately of die-hard anti vac and anti mask champions who have died, three of them are conservative radio hosts.  Another man was from San Angelo who was a vocal critic of mask wearing and anti vaccine.  He left a pregant wife and three or four kids.  I feel sorry for their families and friends.  My ex-mother in law and her husband, recently got over a bout with Covid.  She and her husband are both anti-vaccine and probably anti-mask.  She said it was very rough, and still she cannot taste, although her taste is returning.  She is six years older than I am.  She is proud of the fact that she survived and now has "natural immunities".  I still prefer to take my chances with the vaccine!

I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth or tempt fate.  My husband is without pain in his back for the first time in 20 years.  I am very healthy for age 70, despite me putting on some weight (15 pounds) since the last reunion.  I have enough stress in my life (taking care of my 95 year old mother) without adding more by getting Covid.  I plan to get the booster shot when it is available, so too Danny.

Janalu Jeanes (Parchman)

Kurt,

I've heard R.N.'s say that they do not trust the vaccine totally either.  Some of them have held off getting the vaccine due to side effects they feel will reveal themselves as time goes on.  They have managed to keep their jobs by wearing masks and having periodic testing done, but they say they know that the way the vaccine was rushed through in development, has cautioned them to not be totally trusting of it.  Time will tell, I suppose.  I've had the Pfizer vaccine and now will be in line for a booster this Fall.  I'm hoping that I do not end up with side effects, but I know that I'm taking a chance, as many others are as well.

My anger is directed toward the Communist Chinese bastards who appear to be pretty darn culpable for this horrible pandemic unleashed upon the world, and they are trying to hide the facts from everyone, while so much of the world is allowing them to succeed with their evilness.

Typical of Communists, huh?

On another note, I just had attached to my front door, a nicely colored and informative notice that George P. Bush, Jeb Bush's son, is running for TX  Attorney General, in the next election.  Interesting!

I think he can beat Paxton easily, and I suspect he knows it!   I like the way he has been developing over the last few years.  Looks like a good man coming up!

Happy Birthday Susie Shannon Rudd!

Tell us what Jerry has lined up for your big day.  Don't tell me you are touring the Battleship Texas in Galveston.  That boy is all wet.

Kurt,

George P. is a great leftwing Republican if you want no pushback on open borders where thousands of Covid carriers are being bused and flown to red and purple states all over the country with no regards for American lives, while they prevent individuals from holding a job if they are not vaccinated.  I guess it's a free country for illegal aliens and discrimination against the rest of us.

The Babylon Bee reported today that Joe Biden has ordered the military services to change their motto from  "No man left Behind." to "Hundreds left Behind."  In a related development, Whitehouse Deflector Psaki says that Joe was not looking at his watch in between the funeral ceremonies for our fallen heroes.  He was just checking to see that there was not any blood left on his hands.

Steve,

George P. Bush appears to be more conservative than his father.

He is suing the Biden Admin., for not completing the border barrier, and is stating that the money was already "there" for the completion.  He has been arguing with Biden and Mayorkas, saying they halted the construction in direct conflict with what had been negotiated in contracts with construction companies.

Being of Hispanic heritage, he has sympathies with those people who seek to come here, but he seems to follow the preferred measures of the Republican Party, as far as I can tell at this point.  He wants controlled immigration, not open borders, it seems to me.

Have you read otherwise?

George P. comes across to me as a reasonable, well-educated man, while Paxton strikes me as a squirrel-y guy, who has done some questionable actions in his life, that he should have known better than to have done.  He exhibited poor judgment, me thinks.

Thanks for the info. I too had the 2 Pfizer shots. I hadn't known about the side-effects. I knew it was something other than the anti-psychotic drugs that were causing my latest problem(s)!

Biden's angry tone early in his "Mission Accomplished" speech was as inappropriate as Kamala's laughing. Michael Moore said we are really lucky to have Joe Biden in the White House.

I just flashed on something.   John McCain was nominated today in 2008, and the GOP was extolling his stands on issues, and maintaining Obama as the most radical Presidential nominee ever.

So, nominated McCain, now not considered a real Republican.

Ran with Bush before that, now considered by many a weak Republican.   Nominated Romney, nuff said.

Nominated Trump, not a real Republican...an Icon...

Sort of illuminating.

Why not try someone from deep in the middle of the GOP instead of the fringes or instead of an iconoclast.

I predict Cruz is the next nominee...

I was running errands yesterday, listening to my Astro's game radio broadcast.   I love old baseball stories.   They were wondering who would win the AL batting Championship, Guriel, Brantley, or Guerrero.   The announcer reminisced this old story of Good Goslin from 1928.

1928 batting title[edit]

Goslin continued as one of the American League's best batters with averages of .354 and .334 in 1926 and 1927, but his best season came in 1928. That year, he won the American League batting crown with a career-high .379 batting average. He also finished among the league leaders with a .442 on-base percentage (third best in the league), a .614 slugging percentage (third best), 17 home runs (third best) and 63 extra base hits (fourth best).

The 1928 batting title was not decided until the last day of the season. Goslin and Heinie Manush of the St. Louis Browns were tied going into the final game, and the Senators and Browns played each other in the final game. Goslin was leading Manush when his turn came to bat in the ninth inning. If Goslin made an out, he would lose the batting crown. In Lawrence Ritter's 1966 oral history, "The Glory of Their Times", Goslin described the events that followed. Manager Bucky Harris left the decision to Goslin on whether to bat or sit. Goslin decided to sit and take the batting crown, but his teammates (particularly Joe Judge) goaded him that he would appear yellow if he didn't bat. Goslin was persuaded to bat and promptly took two strikes. At that point, Goslin recalled that he unsuccessfully tried to get ejected from the game, as the at bat would then disappear. Goslin began berating the home plate umpire about the strike calls, only to have the umpire tell him that he was not going to get ejected, and wasn't going to get a walk, so he better step back up and swing. Goslin ended up with what he called a "lucky hit" to beat Manush by a fraction of a point.

The radio announcer said that Goslin actually stomped on the umpire's foot to get thrown out, but no, the ump made him bat.
