Welcome to the Richardson High School Message Forum.

The Message Forum is an ongoing dialogue among classmates. The goal is to encourage friendly interaction, including interaction among classmates who really didn't know each other. Experience on the site has revealed that certain topics tend to cause friction and hard feelings, especially politics and religion.

Although politics and religion are not completely off-limits, classmates are asked to be positive in their posts and not to be too repetitive or allow a dialog to degenerate into an argument.

Lowell,

Yeah, I've heard about how the comic nighttime hosts laugh at Johnson because of his conservative and religious views.  I think he is just trying to teach his teenagers to be respectful of how they treat the opposite sex.  My own parents were similar type parents, as were my grandparents.  Religious, conservative parents are laughed at nowadays, and made to look like they are weirdos (Jesus freaks, they call us.)  In former America, conservative and religous parents were considered ladies and gentlemen with manners and respect, and were the "salt of the earth," in society's circles.  Now, if you aren't part of the WOKE crowd, you are looked down upon and are the butt of jokes on late night TV.

I think it is the diminishing of our society and will lead to our downfall eventually.  If we have no more respect or honor for each other, we become no better than rutting animals in heat, when you think about it all.  We become base, crude, and evil.

I know that the jokes about him get lots of laughs, but I think the man is the kind of man I would trust, when allowing my kids or grandkids to visit his house at any time.  I wouldn't have to worry that he might be a pervert, nor would I worry that my kids might be exposed to inappropriate stuff.

I understand your post, though.  I'm sure the jokes would fly around about me too, if I was in the limelight.

I've learned just to "go with my gut' and follow my parents' example, as I travel along my path in life.

You do the same thing, don't you?

Kurt, I understand your concern.

Yes, M2  declined. See graph: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M2SL

But velocity turned up : See graph:  https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M2V

So the effect on GDP was ameliorated.

You'll see from the M2 graph that there was a large blip starting in 2020, presumably affected by government action taken to offset the negative economic impact of the pandemic.  It looks like we're going back to an M2 level that is more in line with the long term growth in the the economy.

My daughter teaches at PESH.

They won the state 6A basketball championship last night with a 40-0 season.  Pretty big deal for the school.  Only the second state championship and the first undefeated season.  Only three in the Dallas area have occurred since 1980.

My daughter's perspective was "too many kids are taking off time to attend the games on Friday and Saturday.  Don't they know we have all sorts of work to do?  And the school administration all left on Friday.  It turns out the rest of the school was left without disciplinarian assistance."

I guess the glass was half full...

Did I mention she was a highly motivated teacher?

From the San Antonio Express Mar 7.  (Way to go Dems )

Bob D. What is happening to the leaders who caused this?

Gov

Gov. Greg Abbott is calling for the state to impose “consequences” for the 264,000 cases Houston police have dropped since 2016 due to a lack of personnel.

“250,000 crime victims in Houston never even had their crime investigated. That includes thousands of sexual assault victims,” Abbott wrote on X on Thursday. “The state must impose consequences for this neglect & provide solutions to prevent acts like this that allow criminals to go free.”

Wayne,

From what I can tell nothing will happen. The new mayor is an Anglo liberal Democrat who got elected promising to crack down on crime and the incompetent chief is black and appointed by the corrupt former black mayor.

The DA nominee who won the Democratic primary over the incumbent strongly believes in reducing incarceration rates. (He won with the dirty local establishment going all out to destroy the incumbent because she is prosecuting the county judge's top aides for their outrageous crooked deals.) Ironically, that DA was elected with Soros funding. Even though she is a liberal lesbian, we've been friends for forty years and I think she's an honest woman.

Harris County went from well-run to sleazy very abruptly starting about six years ago. A particularly despicable politician named Rodney Ellis, who is funded lavishly by the Arnold Foundation (Texas' Soros), runs things in the city and county for the benefit of his cronies. The official criminality is embarrassing. They've made Houston into a 3rd world hellhole in just a few years.

Racial politics is a huge factor, even with Houston being 18% black and Harris County 14%. I blame virtue signaling white soy boys and wine women, but that's just my personal prejudice. The DA nominee is Anglo. Ellis and his circle are all black. His flunky county judge is Hispanic, but even though they are the largest ethnic group, there aren't many local officials who are Hispanic. They don't vote.

The new Houston mayor beat Sheila Jackson Lee, who is a part of Ellis' circle and ran a very racial campaign, so he has to tread very carefully.

Bob D,

Thanks as always for your post. WOW, a Soros-funded lawyer who is honest - who woulda thought?!?!?!

All,

These pics are from January in Anchorage. And winter isn't over there until April 15!!!!! I mowed my yard here in Knoxville the first time yesterday. Sometimes you'll see bald eagles in Anchorage but not that often.

Hey Bob D.,

I guess you've heard about that large housing developement north of Houston, where some sleazy developer is allowing illegals to buy lots for housing, which amounts to mostly mobile homes being brought in, although there is some home building going on.

What the heck?

I've even heard that our governor knew of the developer's plans, but kept quiet about it, since the developer gave Abbott a large sum of money during election time.

Do you know about this issue?

I can't believe that this is being allowed at all!

Talk about third world country happenings!

When I heard that Sheila Jackson Lee was running for mayor of Houston, I laughed and thought OMG at the same time!

03/13/24 03:13 PM #29247

Jim Bedwell

Janalu & Bob D et al,

The federal government was trying to keep secret (but Freedom of Information Act was used to out this latest outrage) the many airplane flights now to 43 separate US airports from the illegal aliens' countries or elsewhere - so the illegals don't have to endure the cartels & conditions in going over the southern border!

Plus the crime statistics now lied about by the Biden regime are tainted since they don't include alien crime.

And in microcosm, Soros-funded NYC's Alvin Bragg doesn't prosecute 60% of the felonies coming across his desk. They're either dropped or reduced to misdemeanors.

Joe keeps touting 15 million jobs created - AS IF he had anything to do with it. A lot of that results from many more government jobs plus part of it is the rebound from the increased unemployment due to the Chinese covid abomination.

In conclusion, the lying Dems running things will never change and can never be trusted. As always, thanks, Dems.

Like Mark Twain said, and all three are amply covered by the Dems (and some Republicans as well),

"There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."

HOUSTON VS. DALLAS POLITICS

A SOCIO-ECONOMIC NARRATIVE

BY WALTER CRONKITE & chatGPT

In the intricate tapestry of urban governance, Houston and Dallas emerge as contrasting nodes of political and social dynamics. Let's embark on an expedition through the lens of Bob, a retired attorney from Houston, whose narrative offers a striking portrait of the city's political landscape, steeped in allegations of corruption and racial tensions.

Bob's narrative unfolds with a blend of personal insight and acerbic critique, painting a vivid tableau of Houston's political milieu. The ascension of an Anglo liberal Democrat to the mayoral throne, vowing to tackle crime, stands juxtaposed against a backdrop of allegations of incompetence and corruption within the city's law enforcement apparatus. The appointment of a chief of police, castigated as inept and allegedly beholden to the machinations of a former mayor ensnared in scandal, underscores the entanglement of power and patronage within the city's corridors of authority.

Yet, beyond the confines of City Hall, Bob casts a wider net of scrutiny, implicating the judicial sphere in the drama of Houston's descent into what he terms a "3rd world hellhole." The saga of the district attorney's race, fraught with allegations of Soros funding and accusations of political vendettas, offers a glimpse into the fissures of ideological strife and institutional decay plaguing the city's criminal justice system.

Moreover, Bob's narrative delves into the intricate weave of racial politics that suffuses Houston's sociopolitical fabric. The specter of identity politics looms large, as alliances and antagonisms coalesce along lines of race and ethnicity. Bob's reflections, tinged with personal prejudices and barbed observations, illuminate the fault lines of a city grappling with the legacy of historical inequities and the complexities of contemporary diversity.

In contrast, the mosaic of Dallas presents a distinct tableau, characterized by its own idiosyncratic contours of governance and social dynamics. While Houston grapples with allegations of corruption and racial tensions, Dallas emerges as a city navigating its own labyrinth of challenges and opportunities. Nationwide crime and corruption statistics offer a lens through which to compare and contrast these two urban behemoths.

According to nationwide city crime statistics, Houston has grappled with persistently high crime rates, ranking among the top cities for violent crime per capita. In contrast, Dallas has seen a decline in crime rates in recent years, a testament to the efficacy of targeted law enforcement strategies and community engagement initiatives. Moreover, corruption indices indicate that while both cities have faced allegations of political malfeasance, Houston's reputation has been tarnished by high-profile scandals and indictments, whereas Dallas has taken strides towards bolstering transparency and accountability in governance.

In conclusion, the narratives of Bob and the realities of Houston and Dallas offer a kaleidoscopic panorama of urban life, replete with its triumphs and tribulations, its glories and its flaws. As these cities continue to evolve and confront the challenges of the 21st century, they serve as microcosms of the broader tapestry of American urbanism, where the interplay of power and politics, race and identity, shape the destinies of millions.

And that's the way it is.
Good night, and good luck.

Lance, after Bob's post yesterday, I looked up the murder stats for Houston, Dallas, and all other cities in Texas.  I think it was the FBI report.

Significantly higher in Dallas than Houston per capita...

I didn't post as not worth the effort, but your post made me mention.

There are quite a few crime stats out there...so I could be wrong...and the one I looke at was a couple of years ago.

Also, my analysis of this suspended crimes issue is there was or is a simple software problem causing these stats.   Somehow they have a "case suspended" option in the software of investigating crime in the City of Houston.   It is a "tab" feature apparently which became popular over the last 7 years amongst police.   I don't know who designed the software, but I guess some reporter or  victim uncovered the issue.

Wayne picks it up in news feeds that have been pouring out of the COH data.

Bob ;picks up Wayne's references...jaded a bit I suppose because of his closeness to courtroom attendance or knowledge in his Harris County family court issues...makes comments...

Lance gets involved via ChatBPt.

Lowell comments...

Crime high...lower than it used to be.  Still too high though.  Police/?  man, they have a tough job.   I am guessing it's easy to scrape these paperwork issues under the rug with this easy softward tab..."suspended.."

Whoever wrote up this package didn't execute due diligence in whatever "best practices" are in this ?business?

And now for the next ...

Lawrence C.,

I am impressed with your essay.  Your language flow was excellent and well conceived.  You deserve an A+, I summize.  Did you have a thesaurus by your side as you designed it all?

I'm wondering why you chose to compose your post on this particular forum, as you did?  We, here, are not accustom to such flowery and sophisticated language when conversing with each other, as you may have noticed.

I'm not criticising you, I'm just wondering......

I find you quite amusing at times........

Are you trying to 'lift' us intellectually, and challenge us as well?----Not that there's anything wrong with that! (drumrolll & rimshot!)

As for a different subject, Lawrence, what do you think of Biden's change of heart toward the Israeli efforts to eliminate the Hamas killers/thugs, who are responsible for starting the whole doggone mess, the murderous melee happening in that continually, conflicted country?  I think Biden is a turncoat, who is most interested in re-election, rather than being an ally of Israelis.  I've read that Biden has truly never been a big fan of Netanyahu.

I also think that the mostly college student demonstrators who protest against US aid to Israel, don't know the history of the Palestinians, or the Jewish people.  The history is immense, taking careful study to learn.  I doubt that those students have studied as they should have.  I suspect they have simply been brainwashed by their college professors.

Have you read that as well?

Janalu and Lowell.

If you notice Lance's post was not his own thinking.  He asked Chatgpt to write the tome as if it was comming from Walter Cronkite.  Not any original thinking by Lance just AI.  Maybe Lance now has a chip in his head to control him.

The Houston crime statics are un-reliable since they have dropped 264,000 cases du to not having police to investigate them.  The newspaper is telling people to check on the status of their crime against them.

How about asking Chatgpt to do the same repoar as Groucho Marx?  See how it would sound.  Shood be good for a liugh.
