Randy Roberts

January 28, 1951 - September 24, 2018

On Monday, September 24, 2018, Randall James “Randy” Roberts, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, left this world suddenly at the age of 67 to be with his Lord and Savior. Randy was born January 28, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas, the oldest of four sons to Jim and Sara Ellwood Roberts. He received his business degree from the Sam Houston State University in 1974. He worked in the oil and insurance industries in San Antonio for many years before relocating to the Houston area in 2002 to work for SCR Construction. Randy married his wife, Vicki, on January 5, 1974 in San Antonio. Together they raised a son, Drew, and a daughter, Kelli. Randy was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, and he lived a life that was a constant example of that dedication. He was a compassionate friend to everyone, especially to those in need or in crisis. Randy was a long-time member and leader at the First Colony Church of Christ in Sugar Land & Northside Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as an elder and Bible class teacher at both congregations. He was passionate about Bible Study Fellowship where he attended and served for many years. This passion lead Randy to assist in the start of a BSF ministry for the local prison where he was a spiritual mentor to many. Randy enjoyed hunting, the World Champion San Antonio Spurs, playing softball, vacationing in Hawaii, and being with his family. You could always rely on his quick smile, his sense of humor, and his loving and compassionate spirit. While on this earth, Randy was about the Lord’s work, and was a true example of what a Christian man should be. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Randy was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his brother, Gary. He is survived by Vicki, his wife of almost 45 years; son Drew and his wife Ashley, and their children Katelyn, Lucy and Anna; daughter Kelli Coburn and her husband Billy Bob and their children Luke, Bo, and Gilbert; brother Steve and his wife Barbara and their children Tiffany Burden and her husband Kevin, and children Trevor and Cooper; son Ross and his wife Brittney; and brother Darryl and his wife Michelle and children Dusty, Chris and Ambre; favorite mother-in-law Bettye King, brother-in-law Richard King and his wife Kim and their children. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd, in Sugar Land, Texas. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Northside Church of Christ, 19818 U.S. 281 in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Randy’s family has requested that donations be made to Bible Study Fellowship International (www.bsfinternational.org) or Alyssa’s World Changers Fund (www.alyssasfund.com), organizations that were near to Randy’s heart.
