Stacey Louise Balla Strait lived to help her family and the world's children. She was born Oct. 8, 1951, on an Army base in Aberdeen, Md., and promptly lived her whole life in Texas. She graduated from Richardson High School and then the University of Texas with a degree in communications and served as pledge class president in Delta Gamma.

She provided a foster home for youth, volunteered with Southlake Teen Court, the Grapevine Lions Club and Stajduhar Stables for Theraputic Riding. Horses were a favorite pastime and she earned Texas Junior Hunter Champion and multiple other titles. She was a member and a former youth group sponsor at First Presbyterian Church in Grapevine, and past chairman of the McFadden Community Advisory Council, Texas Youth Commission.

She was an avid sports fan, particularly favoring the Dallas Cowboys and most especially the Texas Longhorns. She loved to read and enjoyed hours in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.  She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Lester Strait; her children, Randall, Shannon, and soon to be son-in-law Kenneth Taylor; her sister, Susie Booth and husband, John; her brother, George Balla and Italia; numerous nieces and nephews; and her Westie, Spyder Dog, as well as her other pets.
